The film's release year 2027 will mark the 40th anniversary of 1987 Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (1987) show, the 20th anniversary of the 2007 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2007) movie and the 15th anniversary of the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012) show.
This is the first ever sequel to a fully animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, being Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023).
