Ended really poorly...let down by plot holes all over the place, some really bad acting in places, unbelievable storylines and behaviour from the main characters and supporting characters and all kinds of subplots that went nowhere, fast.
It seems like it should've played out in six parts rather than four, the ending was totally ridiculous and left a lot of questions unanswered. Buildup flashbacks are all well and good but at some point we deserve the logical 'full picture' of the past. Otherwise it makes not a lot of sense...
I thought the young man played the torn up, angry teenager really well and he will go far as an actor. Just a bit wasted on this series.
I can't say I hated it, it had a good start and build which I enjoyed for a while but it all felt messy, a bit thrown together and rushed at the end.

Another one of those UK dramas that starts with a bang and completely messes the non-ending (remember that show with the flood and its dumb murder mystery?). The concept is engrossing: a grieving woman doesn't accept that her brother's killer is building a new happy life after a long time in jail.
The idea that each character is multiple shades of grey is entertaining but problems starts when your plot has just so many coincidences and stupid twists and turns. It's fun until it's not especially when your lead character is psychotic and becomes the most unlikable character of the show.
People always show up at doors at the same time, go to the same location on the same crime night or hear conversations at the perfect time. Our lead lady has a unique talent to befriend anyone despite being a weirdo from day one. It's just bad writing and there are good ideas -like the religious redemption group- that are wasted. Too many plot lines are saved for the second season which is infuriating and somehow lazy. I absolutely hated the final episode that didn't make any sense and tried to fit all the reveals in the most illogical way. I also think a proper flashback about the characters past would have helped creating an emotional link with the present story. Another waste of a good premise.

I was enjoying this and genuinely thought I'd be giving it a seven or an eight by the end, but it just went a bit too awry.
I can honestly say that I'm not too sure who did what, to whom, and when, or why.
I don't expect full closure, but I would like at least one bit to be clear.
And this is after the utter nonsense that no one would recognise they are being messed with, even if they were drunk or off their meds all the time.
I did like the story, the actors did a fab job, It's worth watching. It's just a shame it got a bit too clever with itself.
All the secondary characters were way more interesting. Which thinking about it is maybe the point.
Hmmm. I'm confused!

Another one of those series that doesn't know how to finish, and leaves you wishing you never invested time in it in the beginning. The first episode gets you hooked with an intriguing plot, good filming and score and characters.
But it just goes downhill dramatically and the last episode is a 2/10 at best. So many more intelligent ways to have concluded the series, but they went for a silly option. Not really sure how they could have messed up the end so badly give there was obviously some talent involved in the production overall. Some reviews criticise the acting but I don't fault the actors.

All I wanted to say was this show was just absolutely frustrating to watch. It's so hard to watch when the lead character (Cathy) is so incredibly unlikeable in every single way. Usually there's redeeming qualities or we get to see another side to the character so you can also empathise and soften but no. I haven't seen a show for so long where I just absolutely hated a character so much it made it kinda hard to watch. The murderer ends up being so much more likeable that you end up rooting for the murderer and hoping things will turn on her. But the main thing is that it kept me entertained and I didn't get bored. Which is what TV is supposed to do. At the same time though, it was a bit of a dreary unpleasant viewing as it's basically just four episodes of a man's life being torn apart by the most unlikeable self absorbed woman who didn't care about who she hurt as long as she tickles her urge. It ended rather abruptly. We didn't get answers for many of the things which was really annoying. The show definitely felt unfinished due to how rushed episode four was and how it ended very abruptly with barely any explanations to many of the plotlines.

I endured all episodes of this dire offering from the BBC. One and a half episodes in and I really didn't care what happened to any of the two dimensional characters, by episode three I was skip watching just to get to the end. The flimsy storyline revolves around the lengths to which the female protagonist will go to get revenge on the man who killed her brother many years previously; the whys and wherefores of which are never fully explained. She is a teacher, so supposedly intelligent; but her actions become increasingly ridiculous as she twitters, cries copious amounts of tears into copious amounts of wine and lurches from one unbelievable situation to the next whilst dragging her equally stupid friend along for the ride. By a strange coincidence her husband; also a teacher; teaches the son the man and there seems to be some kind of never goes anywhere subplot involving the two of them. And then we are treated to an ending that is so bad it is laughable. The whole thing is made worse by the poor acting, the dire dialogue and the lack of any resolution or explanation of the subplots. This series falls well short of taut thriller status. If you want a good "revenge stalking" thriller try Red Road instead.

Where do we start? It's always possible that someone could just bump into the guy who killed her brother - as you do, in a supermarket car park - and then that you get more and more obsessed with messing his life up. He's "done his time" but that's not enough for Cathy... She has to ruin the killer's life.
The story-line requires that working people just take time of of work; Cathy just disappears for an hour or two and her husband accepts it; a phone gets stolen, with no induction how. The dialogue doesn't flow, the characters are two-dimensional and uninteresting. The story gets more and more ridiculous and the demands on the poor cast become overwhelming: at times, you can read it in the actors' eyes: "How did I get involved in this?" Fortunately, there are only four episodes to endure, although I suspect they planned for six and decided to cut and run after four.

I have said it before and I will say it again: what is wrong with those reviewers who like to find fault in everything and then give scathing and unjustifiable reviews??
And for those who genuinely don't get the intricate but yet subtle plot twists throughout- which DID pass the test of believability - perhaps watch at a different time when you gain more life experience and an increase in emotional intelligence...
For those who do 'get it', you will be delighted at very consumate and polished acting performances throughout supplemented by highly creative storytelling that easily passes the test of believability.
And if that weren't enough, copperfastened by superb direction that kept the viewer guessing right until the end; an ending that had multiple and shocking twists that compels the viewer to be on the edge of their seat - terrific stuff.
A drama series that highlights the potentially devastating consequences of stalking that gets completely out of hand, and to which should make us all sit up and take notice.
I highly recommend - a riveting watch!

Started of brilliantly had me completely hooked. But as episodes went on it became increasingly improbable especially the final episode. A pity because it showed great promise. Too many plot twists with no explanation. Lead female character had no likeable traits whatsoever so it was hard to feel any sympathy for her. The male lead was better and definitely easy on the eye but you never really find out why he did what he did. All of the main characters were all linked in one way or another but there back stories, connections and various problems were never explained properly. A 2nd series maybe.
I really wanted to like this and the first episode had so much promise but as it went on I realised that it was a jumbled up story. It was unclear on who I should be invested in, the backstory needed to be delivered in full earlier so we could fully engage in the spiraling revenge and the consequences. I ended up not caring what happened in the story or to the characters and abandoned watching it, which is a shame really as we haven't had many opportunities to enjoy an Irish thriller / drama.
The cast was good, set in a great location, but just boring long winded, choppy wasted story lines...

I have never left a review before but having read the mostly negative reviews I felt compelled to leave one after enjoying this show so much. My partner and I watched this entire series in one night and were on the edge of our seats. I thought the acting was on the whole really good, especially Colin Morgan who never disappoints. I think that slightly left-field plot lines makes a thriller interesting and fun as you try and guess what's going to happen in real time. I had no issue with the born again Christian group and thought it was a clever way to acknowledge this corruption that goes on in the real world. I think the last episode was intended to capture a Shakespearean tragedy and those that complained about it lacking a neat and tidy conclusion would likely have been the same people to complain about it being too predictable if it had one. Would defintely recommend!!

Each episode of Dead And Buried ( binge watched it!) is highly entertaining and gripping.
Dark humor!! Think, 'Pulp Fiction'. Mixed in with some very dramatic scenes as well. It is not meant to be taken too seriously. All actors knew the assignment. Resulting in an enjoyable and gripping watch.
Enjoyed every second of it. Lots of twists and turns, keeps you guessing.
Colin Morgan and Anna Schoely (spelling?) did an absolutely wonderful job.
Rave reviews from public and press on the internet already. Anyone I know personally who watched it, loved it.
If you want somethinga little different from the typical everyday 'shlop' you see on tv, then this is the show for you.
Highly recommended.

From the very moment Cathy discovered Michael was no longer in prison for the killing of her brother 17yrs ago, she spirals into a web of deceit and revenge. That's the opening of the 4 part series written and adapted from Colin Bateman. Yes, some may say a slow start to the drama, but give it time and you, the viewer, will be hooked into the path of destruction, not knowing just how far Cathy (played by Annabelle Scholey) is prepared to go to seek revenge on Michael (played by Colin Morgan).
Each episode takes you further and further into the web of lies on both parts. But, despite Michael not being as innocent as you think, you kind of feel sorry for him. And the further into the episodes you go, the more you feel compelled to find out what will happen. I have given it a 10/10. It's gripping edge of your seat viewing.
The only thing that lets it down slightly, is the ending. What an ending though! But you are left in a cliffhanger moment. Left wanting. Wanting to know if Cathy did really do what you're supposed to believe to Michael. Did Michael's family ever find out the truth. I guess you the viewer have to decide.

This was a very fun watch! Although it is a very heavy subject matter, I was surprised at the amount of dark humor and it as well.
Left me on the edge of my seat in all four episodes.
Will not go into a lot of detail on what happens in the show, as others do. Because I feel that ruins it for those who have not seen it yet!
There are trailers and news articles all over the net explaining what the plot line is and what it's all about.
You should be able to watch a show or movie and grade it based on your OWN opinion, not others.
Suffice to say that Colin Morgan and Annabelle Scholey did a tremendous job.
It's entertaining and keeps you watching till the end. The very definition of a good show!
Enthusiastically recommend.

A series very well written and performed by an excellent cast.
Cathie, played by Annabel Scholey appears from the start to be a traumatized somebody, with a disturbed personality. Chapeau to Annabel for her acting performance. I appreciate also the effort she made to assimilate northern Irish accent.
Michael, played by Colin Morgan is a unhappy man, not satisfied by a life that he was forced to live by his father in law. And to cope he drinks a lot. He lives a comfortable life, but he doesn't rally feel forgiven for his past. Colin Morgan has played this part as the marvelous actor that he is.
The rest of the cast gave a very good performance.
A series worth the watch.

Wow, caught the first episode then went to the virgin media player and binged the whole show.
Every character has a certain darkness in them to varying degrees but none seem to be as dark as our hero Cathy, who starts off quite normal but spirals into madness and scheming very quickly upon meeting her brother's killer in the local shop.
Ironically and very interestingly, this man seems to have genuinely turned a new leaf but Cathy is detemined to drag him back into the darkness with her. Will she succeed?
Really excellent acting by everybody involved, especially Anabelle Scholey who nails the accent. Her and Colin Morgan have an excellent chemistry. Everybody seems perfectly cast.
Really looking forward to a season 2.

I viewed Dead and Buried primarily because of Colin Morgan. He's been a favorite of mine for years now, and once again, he is super awesome. His performance is layered and intense. It was honestly difficult for me to see him as the "bad one" in the tale, but I think that just speaks to how convincingly he plays his role.
The show itself is atmospheric and suspenseful. It's a slow burn that works, pulling you into a smalltown mystery complete with secrets, trauma, and hidden truths. I appreciated the psychological undertones and the fact that the characters aren't so clearly black or white, but human and flawed. The ending left me with some unanswered questions. It seemed somewhat abrupt, and I'm still wondering about some of the plotlines that weren't completely wrapped up. Was it on purpose? Perhaps. But a part of me wished for a bit more closure or clarity. Particularly after being so emotionally invested. And Colin....woww....

Wow. Just finished watching this and I'm so full of different emotions. It really messes with your head. Really hard writing a review and trying not to give any thing away. I thought it was superb. Great cast and fantastic acting from all the cast. Binged watched it. I'm a lover of four episodes dramas. I'm still processing all the different emotions I'm having. If you like psychological dramas you will love this. It's very clever and really taps in to the human psyche. If you don't get a powerful message from this then I would say you've definitely missed the point. The two leads are just incredible.
