Funny and Entertaining

The movie is centered on coming of age in Delaware County, PA ,a suburb of Philadelphia and, honestly, one of the most unique and quirky places in the US.(Yes, the place whose dialect challenged Kate Winslet in Mare of Easttown, the place that produced Tina Fey, birthplace of the hoagie AND the stromboli, and probably the least admired county in PA) It does drag a bit at times and it is apparent that it is a lower budget production from a new filmmaker making his first feature length movie, but the movie does deliver laughs and heart. If you are from Delco, you MUST see the movie. If you are NOT from Delco, give it a watch anyway... and pray for us!

A funny, simple coming of age story

I got on board with this movie back when the crowdfunding started, and have followed it all the way through til the premiere. Why? Because nobody frickin talks about Delco, and this movie is. It manages to piece together a genuine picture of what life was like as a teenager growing up in Delco - one defined by isolation, grittiness, and self-loathing. I grew up here, in fact, and took the very first opportunity I had to get out and never come back.

I went into this movie as somebody who hated this county, and oddly enough, by the end, I felt a new sympathy for Delco, largely because this movie asks the simple question, "why does everyone from Delco hate on it so much?"

I thought that it struck a careful balance between portraying Delco as a living stereotype and portraying Delco as a believable place that people live. The story is simple, well-rounded, and every plot thread that begins has an end somewhere - which is way more than I can say for movies that even A24 is releasing these days. Character development is easy to grasp, and religious themes are largely cursory; the conclusion of the story makes it clear that the lead character has to reach a new, less fundamentalist understanding of faith.

Scenes tend to run on in parts, but I liked that a lot of the ancillary characters were given enough airtime to actually have a real personality; it felt truer to most high school romp films that way.

All in all, I think this is a pretty good film. Delco is a character in the story, not the joke of it, and I think that's a meaningful distinction. It means that people outside of Delco will understand and be able to access the movie, but if you're from here or connected to here, you're guaranteed to have a real emotional connection. See it if you can.

A great way to describe Delco

Overall I enjoyed this film. It didn't need to be flashy, didn't need current events/songs shoved down its throat, it's just a movie with three teenagers in a county that people love to hate, but feels emptiness when they leave. The actors played their roles very well, and we also see the main three develop as they continue doing their nonsense. If you lived/currently live in Delco, you gotta see this at least once. For as quickly as this movie was made and with a very tight budget, it was very good and definitely had moments where I went "I know where that place is". It was meant to have people from multiple parts of the county to come together and enjoy this and it did just that and then some.

The movie was originally written as a school project and it shows

Went in with low expectations knowing it was a crowd funded, low budget movie and got what I expected. It played as what someone would submit for a class project. Not enough Delco stereo types. It only focused on the Aston section, no aerial shots of row homes, it made Delco look nice. Could have been funnier and a little disappointed in the casting. The female lead looked 32 playing an 18yr old. Funny that both male leads were THAT religious and went to public school. I didn't know any public school kids that much into their faith so to have the movie centered around two felt off. Not the worst was just hoping for better.

Superbad/Clerks with Delco kids.

The opening is a montage of all Delco locations which will be familiar to anyone from Delco. Nearly follows a classical climactic structure, as the movie takes places in just a bit more than 24 hours. The inclusion of Brian O'Halloran definitely gives the movie a View Askewniverse connection, and Brian A Wilson is a "that guy!" character actor who has appeared in many shows and movies. You may also recognize original American Idol co-host Brian Dunkleman, and J. J Cohen from Back to the Future (dork thinks he's gonna drown!) shows up, and gets to call the teenaged characters "dorks!"

Chris is a talented guy, and I fully expect to see several more projects set in this universe. Also, if you're worried about this being "a religious movie", you may be missing the point of the movie, and the arc of Wayne, one of the three main characters. All the young leads are excellent, and the video game clerks steal the show in several scenes! Also, who knew Ms Skivo had such acting chops?

Religious

Totally based on religion. I saw 3 places in Delco 1 hour into movie and one of the places was Wawa. It should let ppl know it's a religious movie. I wasted $50 of my tight budget was excited to see movie. Such a disappointment. I don't know what else you want me to type for 372 characters. Movie was religious. Movie based on religion. Movie boring and to religious. Movie not advertised for what it was. I hope someone makes a real delco movie some day. Not a religious boring movie. I really wish description. Matched movie. But of course it didn't. Just bring ppl in. Who cares if they r on a budget.

Awesome good time!

I saw the movie at the premiere and again at the latest showing and it is entertaining and nostalgic! I think even if you're not from Delco you can relate to the angst of that time of life growing up and feeling like there has to be more out in the world for you. A young man with a life path laid out for him by family finds solace and adventure with friends in his home town.

The acting was well done! It was a treat to see Dunkleman doing his thing as the not so supportive dad. As a comedic actor he plays a character many can remember from their own town when growing up.

The trio of Harding, Pfeiffer and Kuerzi were relatable as three teens looking for adventure in small town America! Oh how I remember doing some things I wouldn't usually attempt if it weren't for that one friend!

The backdrop of all the places I went to years ago and the places that hold special memories was an extra bonus!! Many of the laughs came from the nostalgia of things that happened at that time and the places that no longer exist.

It's a feel good movie with laughs and provoking memories we can all relate to no matter where you are from. Well done!

Good, endearing fun with heart

I had high hopes for this film, and they were met and succeeded in many places. This is a wonderful freshman romp from director Chris Pierdomenico. A funny, heartfelt love letter to my adoptive hometown.

The film stands its ground in beliefs and morals, and shows how the unexpected support from good friends can make you a wonderful version of yourself. Aside from making those statements, the film is beautifully shot and the cinematography holds up as well.

Overall, if you're looking for a warm, fun, good, clean (and whatever other adjectives you'd like to supplant) coming of age tale, you've found it.

Fun high school flick

A classic 2000s era high school movie feel, made in 2024. Was worried religion-related plot would be too much to follow but it was an enjoyable framework for someone trying to figure out who he is with his "devilish" & "angelic" friends on each shoulder. And as an Italian who was raised Evangelical in a mostly Catholic environment, I've never felt more seen. Didn't know there were others like us out there haha. I enjoyed all the shots of Delco. The real businesses being involved gave it a nice local feel. Lots of laughs & lots of heart. Hoping this gets a wider release! Had some great original music too ("Delco Girl"!

Laughed and cried

I literally burst out laughing several times throughout Delco the Movie and a few heartfelt scenes near the end had my eyes tearing up. Great ensemble cast with truly great writing and ensemble cast...I was fortunate to see the movie twice during opening weekend in Media and absolutely fell in love with the main cast Jess, Adam, Wayne, Bob Hess, the Paster, Reverand and Officer Winnie - truly excellent casting choices and performances all around. Plus as a music guy I'm sometimes critical of the soundtrack choices especially in an independent film but oh my goodness the songs chosen for different scenes were a perfect fit. Can't wait till Delco the Movie comes to streaming so we can see it again...

A fun coming of age story, that I really connected with

I've known and have been friends with Chris since college, and he's talked about this movie for a very long time. When it premiered in January, I wanted to support my friend. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised.

It's a fun coming of age story, especially when it comes to finding yourself. We all come to a cross road in life where we have to chose if our beliefs are serving us. I really enjoyed the lesson of the movie and while it was funny and it made me laugh, it also made me think.

This may or may not be related, but my engagement ended after this movie. I said to my ex-fiance that maybe I've been trying too hard to fit a square peg into a round hole. I have to thank this movie since it got me out of a really bad relationship. Like I said, it probably would have ended without this movie, but Chris's writing really helped me think about things. Thanks, Chris!

Hilarious look at life in Delco

Delco: The Movie is not one to sleep on. Check it out if you're looking for lots of laughs.

Just outside of Philadelphia, PA sits Delaware County, aka Delco. Written and directed by a Delco native, this film is filled with Easter eggs for locals.

This heartwarming comedy directed by Chris Pierdomenico and featuring a mix of local and name talent.

Youse guys want some churry wodder ice down da shore? Or just spend a night with a clean-cut bunch of kids living it up in Delco.

Any fans of "The Wire" will need to keep an eye out for actor Brian Anthony Wilson as Reverend Charleston in this movie.

LOVE This Movie!

Delco: The Movie is an absolute gem-a hilarious, heartfelt, and unapologetically raw tribute to Delaware County life. From the accents to the Wawa runs, every scene is packed with authenticity and local flavor that only true Delconians will fully appreciate (but outsiders will still love). The characters feel like people you know-your cousins, your neighbors, your loud aunt at a cookout-and the script balances comedy and heart in a way that's both entertaining and deeply relatable.

Whether you're from Delco or just curious about it, this film captures the soul of a place like few movies ever do. It's gritty, funny, touching-and totally worth the watch.
