This is a remake of Ausgetrickst (1988), and there are several nods to that film, including:
- during the heist in the beginning, one of the characters is whistling the same tune that one of the characters in the first film sang repeatedly.
- the prison that Conny goes to in this film is named the same as one of the other inmates in the previous film, Gränges.
- the actor who played the main character in the original film (Björn Skifs) shows up in a cameo near the climax.
- a song sung by the original actor is played at two points in the movie.
- during the escape in the airport, one member of the SWAT team screams the same thing as one of the characters in the original film: "Stop! Can't you stop!" in the same tone of voice.
- after finding the tunnel leading out of the prison, Conny uses clothes that was stashed by the bad guys, and the tan leather jacket and red cap are very similar to the clothes that original Conny wears after breaking out, also stashed by the bad guys.
- the endings of both films hinges on showing someone a video of somebody committing a crime.

First movie for Fredrik "MrChilibeard" Johansson. He plays one of the inmates in prison.
