The Witch and the Beast

Majo to Yajuu is one of the most impressive anime I've seen recently, with its dark atmosphere, intense fight scenes, and savage characters. The main characters' ruthless behavior and backstories add a lot of depth to the story. The action scenes are not only dynamic but also visually stunning. Especially the way the characters move without hesitation keeps the tension high throughout. The music and art style match the dark theme perfectly. As the story progresses, we learn more about the characters' pasts, which adds mystery and keeps things exciting. Even the opening and ending sequences reflect the atmosphere beautifully. I'm really looking forward to the next season!

I can't believe a show with this quality is rated so lowly, this show to put it plainly, is fantastic!

It's fast paced, the characters are interesting and to put it plainly, bloody awesome!

The animation is top notch, the music is great, the action is fast paced.

The entire series was watched over a couple days, really I am just trying to use the required characters so I can post this review to let everyone know how amazing this show is.

Knock knock? Who is there? Who? Who is who? Who cares about that joke, it sucks, is it even a joke? No.

Please watch this show, you will not be disappointed!

The creators waste no time with proper introductions or core motivations. We're given the most basic of reasons for the main characters to do what they do, then pushed ever onward to the next event. This creates the effect of great momentum. Your attention will be captured because the world is fascinating yet barely explained. The reality of magic, witches, necromancy and supernatural calamities is just accepted by the viewer as well as the average citizen in what is otherwise a world with a familiar modern backdrop. All of this combined with distinct characters, a few surprises, and good if not generic depictions of what you'd expect some of these people to look like makes for an enjoyable watch. The interactions between Guideau and Ashaf are also particularly entertaining, as one is constant rage and impulse, and the other ever meticulous and unbothered. But the season ends exactly as it starts, abrupt, and lacking proper resolution. As quickly as we are thrown into the story, we are also thrown out of it. Perhaps if the series was finished this wouldn't be so keenly felt but as it stands the ending is a bit sudden. This communicates a sense of impermanence which somewhat registers the entire experience as ultimately forgettable.

Overall, this is a surprisingly entertaining show that no one seems to talk about. Hopefully upcoming seasons will round out the edges for a more complete experience.

It does have alot of dialog, but thats part of the story line, it has its share of action too. The characters are fresh, the anime art work is top notch, including the English Voice Actors. It has mystery, suspense, folklore and it's own unique story arch. I'm giving this the highest rating because it's good enough for a 2nd season... Plus, the anime industry just has too many harem, inside a game, in another world and reincarnated themes nowadays. It needs more different theme stories. This series falls into that category, which I hope there will be more similar series/movies down the road. Again, this anime really needs a 2nd season.

If you enjoyed the dark humor and mystery of "Undead Girl Murder Farce," then "Majo to Yajuu" won't disappoint. This anime offers a creepy atmosphere, a suspenseful plot, and a fantastic relationship between the main characters.

Fueled by fellow manga readers' excitement, I dove into this story with anticipation. As a dark fantasy and metal enthusiast, I was impressed by the world's brooding atmosphere and the engaging adventure plot. The tale of Ashaf and Guideau's quest to break a witch's curse and restore Ashaf's true form is a thrilling ride. It echoes Tsugaru, Aya, and Shizuku's journey in its blend of dark humor and monster-filled cases, but with an extra dose of genuine plot twists that kept me hooked.

This anime has a strong Dark Souls vibe, which I really enjoyed. There's a ton of worldbuilding with hints of a deeper story, but sadly, 12 episodes weren't enough to explore it all. It has great potential for future seasons! The magic system itself is a bit generic, but the powers are used really well. While the action is limited and the animation (except for the first episode) is just okay, that doesn't matter to me. The best parts are the journey to find the original witch, the atmosphere, and the relationships between the characters.

The show's real charm comes from the interactions between its characters, especially Ashaf and Guideau. They're a fun duo to watch. Ashaf is the epitome of cool composure, while Guideau is loud and sharp, basically acting like a man stuck in a woman's body thanks to the body swap. Ashaf is the calming voice of reason, reining Guideau in when she gets impulsive and keeping her on track. They're like a classic brain-and-brawn combo, similar to Inuyasha and Kagome or Tsugaru and Aya from Undead Girl. Their banter is witty, and the voice actors bring them to life so well that even slow episodes fly by.

Even though it's kind of overused, this show is simply an experience. I can't quite describe how it makes me feel. It's dark, unsettling, and emotional, and it really resonates with me. Despite some production problems, the plot is exciting, the characters are interesting, and the world has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, like most seasonal anime, it feels like we barely explored this world. Time to jump into the manga!
