Not as lightweight as it seems

This series seems to show someone so self obsessed that you wonder if she will ever find love - and after splitting with a boyfriend after 10 years together and not getting the wedding ring she wanted, she kind of goes off the deep end.

But as the series goes on you get explanations about why she's the way she is and more than just the "top layer" of the person - and you can feel for the character (and her friends and family) more.

It's also not as predictable as you might think initially with other characters showing it's not just about her. The lead actress is great - showing inner softness under the slightly crazed shell - and she has a good supporting cast too.

This does seem be a "going concern" though - as it looks like it'll take more episodes to wrap things up in a bow (if that - or the second series - happens).

I'll be watching them if that happens.

A great surprise!

Argentinian cinema and series hit different.

This show is kind of a romantic comedy but in a much higher level. Don't expect those hollywoodian stereotypes and superficiality. Having just seen the last episode (of season one), I can say this is probably my favorite rom-com series ever. Which is remarkable because I usually don't like this gender.

But this show is just AMAZING. I'm gonna list all its qualities:

  • great acting from everyone, especially the two main characters, from actors Griselda and Esteban;
  • all characters (friends, family, coworkers) are likeable and relatable;
  • great dialogs, with very little cliches to be honest. Everything feels very real;
  • in the first two episodes you'll probably don't like the main character very much; but she will grow on you very quickly!

  • cute production, good scenes from Buenos Aires;
  • story is not all about "love". There are side stories about friendship, family, loss, self esteem, relationship with the therapist (which scenes are particularly enjoyable);
  • relationships and feelings are showed deeply and there's no way you won't relate to some of them, being it one character or another.

I guess the thing that surprised me the most is that we're able to like the main character even with all her flaws. She's not perfect, as neither of us is. She's not a poor little girl looking for a man, she's a real woman whose situations in life are a result of her choices. And she has to deal with them.

I'm just dying to see season 2!

Griselda Shines in a Brilliantly Written Series

I started watching the series without many expectations, but halfway through the first episode, I was hooked, and it seemed brilliant. Griselda is an impressive actress, and she shines the most in the comedic scenes. The rest of the cast is flawless, and the characters are very well-written. The writing is also worth highlighting-it's one of those series where you can easily recognize different friends or family members in the characters you see on screen. The attention to detail in the storytelling and the balance between humor and drama make it a truly enjoyable experience. Each episode keeps you wanting more, and it's hard not to binge-watch the entire series.

Maybe it's just too good

Maybe it is just the incredible talent of the writers and the female lead to give life and shape to such a horrible, self-absorbed, selfish, insensitive, revolting person. The show is otherwise great, the cast is brilliant, wonderful production values, the writing is solid, Esteban Lamothe's character is dreamy etc. However, into episode 8 I just cannot stomach the female protagonist anymore. There is also something old-fashioned and disturbing about a 40-something middle-class woman in Buenos Aires desperate to get married. I cannot watch the show any longer. I can't stand Vicky, her tantrums, her first-world emotional problems (she may live in Argentina but she's an insufferable emotional Karen). Hasta aquí llego.

Suprisingly GREAT!!

I've never watched the Argentinian series... and I can say that I'm blown away.

I'm also not a big fan of comedies, but this one was perfect for me.

In the begginig she was so annoying, and that was point of the show, but from every episode she was more and more likeable. I had a really good laugh.

And really good thing is that I rethink about myself, and concluded that I and all women have it in us, a touch of envy. Sometimes we don't have a good day and everyone's life seems better than ours. But reality always surfaces, as it was shown in this show.

I am from Europe and I can say sadly that women here are still consider "failure" if they are 40 and without husband and kids, and that is sad.

I especially liked the character of the psychologist, if I go to therapy I would like her to be just like her!

10/10 from me and I am really suprised.

We're in the 21st century... are there still women like her?

Pretty bad. I'm Argentinian, and it's truly sad to see how a national series is contaminated by other series like Sex and the City, when the series could have its own narrative, like NADA, with Luis Brandoni, or BELLAS ARTES with Oscar Martínez.

On the other hand, ENVIDIOSA is the kind of series that leaves women behind in time, like idiots who only want to get married and have children. The protagonist has nothing important to say, is someone you'd be terrified to meet on the street and someone you'd never want as a friend.

The dialogue is bad and lacks depth.

Perhaps what makes it beautiful is the surroundings of Buenos Aires, but beyond that there are much more beautiful things to see.

This is my favourite romantic comedy series of all time 🙌🏼

If you are a fan of romantic comedies this show is definitely for you. Like old classics such as "The Awful Truth", "When Harry Met Sally" or new classics like "To All the Boys I Loved Before", it's filled with amazing comic timing, romance and great chemistry. It's got plenty of twists and surprises that are refreshing and somehow keep u guessing. You think you what happens next, but then the writer will one up you and you'll laugh hysterically. Somehow it makes it more believable bc life is more unpredictable than most Netflix shows. What really sets this show apart is how heartfelt it is. I cried just about as much as I laughed. You fall in love w the main character along with her costar. There was this one amazing scene that I watched 5 times. I've never done that before but as a fan of film and television, I was astounded by the impeccable portrayals and the writing. Nothing was in excess. Nothing was lacking. It was the perfect declaration. The one Jane Austen wld pen today if she was a modern author. Pls watch this and fall in love with romantic comedies again.

The worst of romantic comedies and soap opera cliches

The author of this comedy series must have watched lots of romantic comedies, especially Sex and The City, Bridget Jones Diary,and many others because there is a bit of each one in it. Which is not bad at all, considering they are all good movies but...the stereotype this is based on is totally out of date, the main character is a selfish brat with no personality at all except for the anxiety of getting married, we know nothing about her, I mean who quits a career for a man these days? Are we nuts? The actresses however are phenomenal, Griselda Siciliani can do anything, best actress of her generation together with the rest of the cast even Esteban Lamothe who plays same role every time. Conclusion...Not worth watching, it is not even funny.

Relatable

This show is an absolute gem. I love the script, the actors, everything is relatable, every character is someone you most probably know in real life. The main character is not meant to be liked - she has many flaws, but that's exactly the point. Her behavior, her contradictions, the way she interacts with people - it's raw, real, and sometimes painfully accurate. It doesn't try to sugarcoat anything or present idealized versions of people. It just shows them as they are.

The familiarity brought me very close to the Argentinian culture, and I love it. Even though I'm not from Argentina, there's something universally human in the way relationships are portrayed - the messy family dynamics, the social awkwardness, the emotional chaos. It felt like home.

The humor is subtle, dark at times, but never forced. The pacing is also great - not rushed, not dragged - just enough to let moments breathe. The side characters add so much texture to the story. They're not just background noise; they have their own depth and arcs, which makes the whole thing more immersive.

It's not often that a show makes me feel both seen and uncomfortable in the best way. That's rare. Fingers crossed for a third season!

Laughs are guaranteed across all 23 episodes!

I am also one of those who completed watching this two-season series in just two days. No surprise! The story and characters are fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed what I watched and laughed at many scenes. Although the character Vicky even managed to make me mad at times, I appreciate the way her journey is portrayed.

This is not just a comedy; it also makes you question yourself and your relationships. The series creates perfect moments where you start to feel like part of the story. All the performances in the series are excellent. The script and directing techniques are absolutely successful.

This isn't meant to be a critique, but the series does use some similar patterns to Sex and the City and The Golden Girls. While there aren't direct similarities, there are slight inspirations. However, one critique I have is the lack of diversity. In the series, you don't see any Black people; it's almost entirely a white-centric depiction, except for a few Chinese characters.

Buenos Aires is famous for its rich ethnography, but this was reflected in the TV series far less than I expected.

Superb acting, humour and layered characters. Argentinian series you wish we had more of!

This series is about Vicky, someone so self obsessed but also quite lost, and trying to find her place and love in life.

It is absolutely hilarious, I was in stitches within minutes of her talking in the first episode. The actress, Griselda is highly regarded in Argentina and is extremely talented in theatre and also in dancing. She's outstanding. You will love, hate her, cringe, all the feels, as you go through her life. But you're rooting for her, because there's bits of her in all of us.

The supporting car is amazing too- her ex fiance , her friends (i love Debbie, Lu and her sister Carolina) and her family. It is so well done, I don't know how this show hasn't hit top 10 in all countries, it far outweighs Bridgerton or any of that stuff.

The second season is even better than the first in my opinion and that's hard to do for a series, especially with such a fast turn around.

Also love seeing Buenos Aires and the Argentinian lifestyle which is very Parisian (Buenos Aires is used for Paris in a lot of sets as it's cheaper to film in!)

Amazing, cast, writing and a series that will make you laugh and cry and keep you guessing as well.

Envious is not the right adjective

First than anything let me clarify that i'm argentinian and the one star I give is because the photography of Buenos Aires is beautiful.

Because everyone was talking about it I started watching it.

In the first few episodes I thought it was going to be the story about this quirky airhead of a certain age looking for love... When I realized that the main character was an unsympathetic and annoying Argentinian Karen, every episode started feeling more and more upsetting to say the least Then I completely stop caring and I kept on watching out of curiosity about the only two likeable characters, one was a dog and the other one a guy who let himself being treated like a dog.

To top my disappointment it has no ending, so if the second season is never made, that was it...

Amazing and relatable!

I loved every episode-it kept me hooked from start to finish! The story was incredibly relatable, especially through the character of Vicky. I felt her pain, hope, happiness, dreams, confusion, and love drama deeply. Her journey resonates with so many women today who struggle to find a supportive partner while balancing their dreams of building a family and pursuing a career. I experienced every emotion as if it were my own.

I absolutely loved it and wish there were more series like this-realistic and emotionally grounded-rather than the overly dreamy ones we usually see. This series truly reflected real-life experiences, making it all the more impactful.

This is complete script failure

Envidiosa had potential, it could be a great series but it was a complete waste. This show could be an excellent story but the writer and director decided to lose the opportunity to have a great character transformation arch. Instead they chose an unsympathetic main character who never changes, who always screwed up, never learned and at the end she won what she wanted.

There is something wrong when you finish the season and you are not happy that the main character gets what they wanted. You can't emphasize with their needs or desires. Great actors that for sure they could have done it better under other circumstances.

Good Start but Unwatchable by End of Season 01

Unwatchable if you're a Man

All the men in this series are complete idiots. By far, this is the piece of entertainment that tries the hardest to communicate that women lead and that men are like two-year-old children who even struggle to express themselves properly and can only understand each other. The actresses are amazing-rarely have I seen such high-quality acting. But the constant insistence on portraying and proving that all the men are complete idiots (they could at least include one who's somewhat intelligent) makes it impossible to watch the series as a man. Yes, it's an absurd comedy and you're supposed to laugh at it, but the constant portrayal of men as intellectually diminished beings becomes tiresome. Every comedy needs some realism; idealistic comedies are fables, not comedies. This one is probably "The Ultra-Feminist Fable of the Envious Woman"-that should have been the title of the series.

A waste of time...

It could have been a great comedy. But it isn't. The protagonist is a woman with serious issues, obsessed with the idea of marriage - so obsessed, in fact, that she not only can't feel happy for the people around her, like her sister or her friends, but actually causes them problems. She's also a woman who constantly humiliates herself, with behavioral issues, rudeness, and not a trace of empathy. Not even a caricature... It's also very difficult to relate to the protagonist, let alone sympathize with her or understand her. Throughout the episodes, we see no change in her path, no self-reflection - she remains fixated on a single goal and ends up being almost pitiable...
