The podcasts series are excellent - really well researched and put together together.
So it was with some trepidation I started to watch the tv series, not wanting to be let down. For me the whole the whole thing just works. Danny Robins is the perfect host - quirky, likeable, credible and always on the fence presenting evidence for and against, allowing you to make up your own mind. There seems to be so much strange activity going on out there and this show tries to capture experiences and present them in a simple yet effective formula.
There is plethora of poor paranormal programming - but for me this stands out as being one of the best. Looking forward to series 2.

... looking at alleged hauntings, poltergeists, and possessions. Just watched the third - and final - episode of the first series. Very well researched. Host Danny Robins presents an extremely balanced view. It does a good job of looking for natural explanations, consulting various SMEs (sound engineers, psychologists, structural engineers), as well as conducting social experiments with volunteers. The show's biggest strength is how it holds itself to a high standard of credibility - of both witnesses and investigation (with no Most Haunted/Yvette Fielding-style screaming/running around). Robins also presents a regular Uncanny podcast, but I hope this BBC TV version returns soon. Strongly recommended if you're at all interested in these kinds of subjects. 8/10.
I enjoyed the podcasts and the tv show. I like the balanced approach.
The presenter interviews sceptics and believers to try and understand the uncanny things that have happened to people.
He speaks to knowledgable people on both sides of the debate all over the UK. The people he talks to seem calm and credible. The pace is good although I don't like the fact that the special affects are so dramatic.
My score would have been higher if Danny the presenter hadn't seemed to take such enthusiastic, delight in people's genuinely awful experiences.
Smile less Danny and be more serious about this serious stuff.
Great show though. Do more.

My recommendation is that you check out the original radio podcasts, although that is not essential to appreciating this TV series. Listening intently to the tales and testaments on the the radio is certainly more atmospheric than the visual talking heads and the jump-scares thrown into the recreations of "events" we see on the television. Still, the TV series has a lot to offer ... including said jump-scares.
The program opens with Danny Robins dressed like Griffin Dunne in American Werewolf in London, which must be deliberate since he does bear an uncanny resemblance to the actor. And, maybe there's a nod to Don't Look Now, too. The format works. Ciarran O'Keeffe as the sceptic does his best to debunk the phenomena with which he's presented, but you can tell that Danny wants the viewers to stroke their respective chins and nod at his explanations, but ultimately side with the people telling their stories .... even if they're not buying Evelyn Hollow's wholesale subscription to the paranormal.
Definitely worth a watch, especially on a Winter evening when you've read you collection of M. R. James stories.

This has to be one of the best paranormal shows along with the podcast. You get the suspense you crave but a respectable, honest conversation that helps you look at the phenomena from both a believer and skeptic view point. It is refreshing to see a show that is both open minded yet sensible.
The show and podcast have taught me not to jump to conclusions. It is both rare and usually impossible to have enough evidence to move from theory to fact, but that's ok, as it sparks conversations and has you swinging like a chandelier between team believer and team skeptic. If you have an interest in the paranormal, this show along with the Uncanny podcast will not disappoint.
