Filmmaker Kiyoshi Kurosawa does a decent remake of his 1998 original movie with the biggest difference is that it takes place in France.
Kurosawa, while not every movie is amazing, he always offer a sense of tension, dread, or good approach with horror. Making an interesting experiencing of a slow-burn character studies of a movie. Shot well and presented, this new remake doesn't have anything really new with the story but Kurosawa still manages to make it interesting to say the least. Solid performances from the cast all around and some good dialogue moments.
Because it's almost like a shot for shot remake, at times it does feel a bit unnecessary to why this needed to happen. Including some strange direction that doesn't work at times. But overall, it's a solid movie.
