AVERAGE MOVIE

More often than not,Jackie Chan movies are always entertaining as most of his films are made in a very light hearted fashion and Jackie always has a very sunny attitude alongwith him executing some excellent stunts. To a certain extent this was the same with this movie, although this Chinese film's quality was brought down tremendously by the extremely terrible acting by the junior cast who were extremely amateurish and childish in every way. The other huge minus point was the horribly horrible translation from Chinese to English resulting in a very cheesy output.

All in all it's worth watching just once, only because of Jackie Chan.

dead inside

Uniquely looking panda bear Hu Hu is born at Noah Zoo amusement park. An Arab prince is willing to pay any price for it. Soon, criminals are trying to kidnap Hu Hu for the bounty. Movie star Jackie Chan gets invited to adopt Hu Hu. He, his agent, and the zookeeper try to save the panda from the criminals.

This film has Jackie Chan going to an amusement park. I would hate going to this all-panda themed park. It looks modern and dead inside. Then there are the CGI animals. I'm not necessarily talking about Hu Hu. I understand the need for some CGI on that. It is all the other unnecessary fake-looking CGI animals in the background. Talk about dead inside. I do appreciate that Jackie tries to do some of his action stunts. He's an old man and shouldn't be expected to do that much. I did laugh once when the girl asks him those two questions. It's a funny safe meta joke. On the other hand, I do not like the ending where they try to salvage the villain. It completely destroys the stakes. All in all, this is pretty bad.

A bit worn out!

Jackie Chan, an adorable panda, and the lovely Ce Shi are enough to keep me engaged, even if the kid-friendly slapstick martial arts film feels a bit worn out. Unfortunately, the panda was just a poorly animated CGI version! The villains were meant to be the real deal, but their acting was so subpar that viewers might have preferred the CGI instead!

The film seems a bit confused about its identity. For the first hour, Panda Plan is a fun action comedy focused mainly on stunts and jokes. Then, in the final act, it takes a serious turn when Su reveals she might have to leave her job caring for the pandas due to her parents' health issues. The film even attempts to tug at the heartstrings at the end when the motive behind the panda heist is unveiled.

Nonetheless, it was entertaining, as is typical with Jackie Chan films... so for the entertainer who continues to shine even in his 70s, I give it six stars!

A high budget, low effort garbage

Bad CG. Bad writing. Bad... everything. A high budget, low effort project designed to appeal to those with little to no expectations.

Barely even scraps by as a silly ride for children with gags and jokes that very rarely lands on target.

And our poor little panda. A poor excuse of a bundle of pixels, which would look great and adorable on its own, but it is cheaply shoved it into scenes, as if it was another unwelcomed Chinese actress there to appeal to impressionable men for the mainland.

Come to think of it, this whole project stinks of someone who had money hell bent on making a movie because he had a genius idea... that nobody believed in.

Upside? Seems like they had fun making the movie.

Good for them.

This Jackie Chan movie falls flat on its face...

When I sat down to watch the 2024 action comedy "Panda Plan" here in 2025, I was actually looking forward to doing so, as it was a Jackie Chan movie.

But lo and behold, my excitement was cut brutally short, because this movie was cringeworthy in so many ways. It was painful to watch Jackie Chan in this movie, and I have to say that this was definitely a contender for the top three of the worst of Jackie Chan movies, and it is not like there are many of those.

I find it rather impressive that three writers collectively could manage to put together a laughable heap of a storyline that this turned out to be. The movie had next to no coherent storyline whatsoever.

The only familiar face on the screen was Jackie Chan. I have to say that the acting performances in the movie were not overly great, and Jackie Chan seemed like he was forced against his better judgement to star in this dumpster fire of a movie.

I watched a terribly dubbed version of the movie, and even Jackie Chan was dubbed, just adding to the cringe that is "Panda Plan". It is simply baffling that dubbing still takes place in this day and age. And just to add insult to injury, then the dubbing was atrociously bad.

The panda cub in the movie was CGI animated, and not impressively so.

What keeps the movie afloat and elevated from being a total bottom scraper, is the archetypical Jackie Chan action and stunts.

My rating of "Panda Plan" lands on a three out of ten stars.

What does the CCP have on Jackie?

Watching Panda Plan was one of the most painfully cringe-inducing experiences I've had in a long time. Jackie Chan is a global icon, a legend who's given us decades of unforgettable action and charm. So how did we end up here? This film is a baffling mess that feels more like a propaganda puff piece than a movie.

The plot is nonexistent, the dialogue is insultingly bad, and Jackie-who we know can deliver so much more-looks like he's going through the motions with a forced smile. The whole thing reeks of pandering, with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Honestly, what does the CCP have on Jackie to make him embarrass himself like this?

The one where Jackie gets to milk a rhino.

International movie superstar Jackie Chan is all tired from filming his new movie and wants a worthy break. The non-filmy activities doesn't excite him much until he is convinced to adopt a baby panda at the Noah zoo. Unknown to him and others, the baby panda's kidnapping is planned and the deal is made with a group of mercenaries. When they make the move to kidnap the baby panda, Jackie Chan has to step up and do what he does best on screen to save the baby panda.

What the film gets somewhat right are the action sequences which are not entirely fun but atleast not outright bad. It's fun to see Jackie Chan doing those stuff for the millionth time and he stays committed. Setting aside the meta references, the film fails in it's attempt to strictly aim at the kids and the stale jokes don't appeal to anybody irrespective of the age. The supporting characters remain irrelevant and overact at cue which would have been okay for the 80s or 90s but not now. I am not being lenient is because after a long time I watched an English dubbed version and I was not happy with the dubbing at all. Having said that, I doubt I would have enjoyed this better in it's original language either.

Worst casting

Whoever casted all the russian actors in the movie should never do any casting ever in his life. Especially the russian actor that played the role of the father of the child. The acting is so bad. Its only jackie chan doing mini stunts and thats it. Not worth going to the cinema for this movie.

Poor Movie

I think this is one of those family friendly movies, but the terrible dialogue and pointless jokes. Plot is nonexistent and story is so simple. It's like AI wrote it.i loved Jackie Chan growing up and even though this movie is a good background movie. It doesn't hold your attention for the whole film.

The film is some what ok, but it's a terrible experience. The long good thing about this movie was the effort of CGI in the animals and the panda was very well created.

I would have preferred the movie to be slightly shorter. Have a secondary character who could do stunts with Jackie and also someone should have kept the panda as a puppet.

My daughter loves it!

Jacky may look old but he still good in action, the stories were light, easy to understand and easly forgotten too. But that's ok. A lots of comedy, a bit silly but we were very entertained, my 8 year old daughter really enjoyed it until the movie end. There were many scenes that made everyone laughed. Maybe some people will dissapointed because the panda cub was not real, it created by cgi. Trust me it still cute and looks real tho. No real pandas were harmed during filming.

There aren't many family movie released these days so im really happy about this one. Thats it! I dont know what else to say, i just want to reached the minimum character limit lol.

Super disappointed, don't waste your time or money

Worst Jackie Chan movie ever. What a snooze fest. Where are do I even begin? The stunts are mediocre, the acting is sub par, the villains are all bumbling idiots and the CGI is amateur at best. The panda is obviously CGI and makes all sorts of cute sounds which is so fake. I feel bad saying this but the glory days of Jackie Chan are over. I don't even understand why Jackie will even shoot this sort of movie, where are his standards? The other cast members are not famous so it's just him carrying this movie. This looks and feels like a money grab so don't waste your time or money watching this poor excuse of movie.

A boring experience

I expected this film to be at least a funny surreal experience based on the trailers and the posters calling it "a family adventure" but it ended up being a boring generic action heist movie. The writing is poor and some of the characters are hurtful to watch also most fight scenes were too long and the film moves in too low pacing and most of the jokes are bad and make the film hurtful to watch. And also the panda CGI is strange and annoying and the ending is a bit weird. I wish the film had lean more into the surreal aspects and also made Tony (the best character from this film who sadly never appears again after the 2nd act) have more screentime.

Jackie Chan as Jackie Chan

Greetings again from the darkness. Jackie Chan starring as ... Jackie Chan! He's an international action-comedy star appearing in this international action-comedy as himself. In fact, one of the running gags has various people questioning if it's really "him" and whether or not he can actually fight like he does in his movies. The film is from writer-director Luan Zhang and co-writers Wei Xu and Meng Yida.

An amped-up and expansive action sequence opens the movie. It's also where we learn Jackie is playing Jackie. He's a bit frustrated at the roles he's being offered (the man is now 70 years old) and quickly jumps at the opportunity to adopt a rare baby panda. Not only does he find the cub irresistibly cute, but so does the entire universe ... including a Middle Eastern dude willing to pay $100 million to a group of mercenaries to steal (bear-nap?) and deliver the panda. Jackie arrives at the island zoo at just about the same time as the bad guys' pirate ship. What follows is rampant chaos as Jackie and the panda's nanny, Su Xizozhu (Chi Se) try to protect the (CGI) cub.

For most of the movie the panda is referred to as 'Big Babe', but is blessed with an actual name later in the game. The film is purposefully cartoonish and leans heavily into Jackie Chan's natural charm and presence. It likely would have played better as a pure family film about a cute panda, and aimed squarely at kids, but unfortunately, the action sequences pack enough violence to keep the youngsters away. There are some entertaining sequences ... including a rare escape utilizing a forklift as a getaway vehicle. The finale lifts the story from the dark cloud that hung over most of the film, and Jackie Chan fans will be thrilled to know that a sequel is already in the works for next year.

On digital and Blu-ray on February 18, 2025.

Jackie Chan: Panda Plan

I'm biased! I will admit it. I met Jackie over 20 years ago at the Oscars, and I got to work with him in this movie as well. I am the security guard eating burgers that gets choked out.

But, the best part of working on this movie, besides meeting with Jackie Chan after 20 years, was being able to take my 3-yr old daughter to see her first theatre movie. She loved the cute CGI Panda, and recognized me immediately! She even yelled out for the soldiers to "stop hitting daddy!" A cute movie, so silly, funny, and sentimental enough to make you tear up and possibly look for a tissue. Highly recommend it for families, and even dates.

Good fun for the family

This is my first IMDB review. I was prompted to write it by the negative reviews here.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this fun story. Sure the CGI panda wasn't hugely realistic but it was good enough and very cute. We all laughed a lot at the action scenes which were often quite inventive.

Jackie Chan might be old now but he still knows how to do his skilled stunts.

It helped to be watching this with young teenagers who know how to have fun. If you don't have those, turn off the critical thinking, see it through the eyes of a child and enjoy the silly ride. You will be rewarded as long as you stop expecting "another" Jackie Chan movie.

I gave it a chance and I finished it.

Well It matched my expectations! I mean I wouldn't expect it to be anything new or anyway hardcore Jackie Chan. As it's so obvious from the title of the movie and the posters.

Jackie aged well. He still can do some action. God bless the guy. The casts are OK truly. The Nanny is so cute and adorable. Half of the success here credited to her. And of course, the Panda! The way it moves was captured quite well in CGI. (I mean it's cute enough!). I love it when Nanny carries Panda and runs around. It's the best in the film. The bad guys are typical yes but I wouldn't expect anything else really.

Overall it's a light-hearted cute and relaxing film to watch. I didn't really want to watch it in the beginning because it's not really my thing, figured I gave Jackie and the Panda a chance. I'm glad I watched it.

As for the 10 Star, why the 10 Star? I could haven't given it a true 6-7 Stars. BUT seems like there are other biased reviewers here (especially one which mentioned the CCP, which got NOTHING to do with Jackie or the film *What a looooser). Figured I'll just exercise the third law of Newton.
