The Young Artist Academy is the only youth awards structured the same as major Hollywood award shows. As members of the Academy, young performers are taught awards judging and production processes of live shows. The experience gives young performers the advantage of fully understanding and participating in the larger awards shows upon eligibility.
Due to the 2023 American actors' union strike (the longest strike in SAG-AFTRA history), most publicity opportunities for actors was struck by the unions. Though exempt from struck work, the Young Artist Academy stood in solidarity with its members and adjusted the 44th Nomination Announcements to be made without presenters.
