I saw people writing up "who are the actors cast in Star Wars: Episode VII" posts yesterday, which made me wonder who exactly needed an introduction considering the only newcomer on the list was Daisy Ridley, whose most notable role was a small part in "Mr. Selfridge", until being thrust into the spotlight as a member of the cast of what may be the biggest blockbuster to come around in years. I can understand wondering who she is and now you can at least take a chance to get acquainted as the 2013 short film, Blue Season has been found online. Directed by Lee Jones (who must be loving this added attention), Ridley stars in the short opposite Kenneth Jay. The film was made as a part of the Sci-Fi London 48-Hour Film Challenge. Check it out below and get to know Daisy a little better. via Film School Rejects...

Daisy Ridley, one of the new stars of Star Wars Episode VII, is the most unknown of the group. In fact, she’s almost a total mystery to most people, as she has precious few credits to her name. One of those credits, however, is a short thriller called Blue Season. Produced out of London as […]

The cast of Star Wars: Episode VII was announced on Tuesday, and, while many of the new castmembers are somewhat unknowns, one in particular is a complete mystery: Daisy Ridley.
Ridley is the only new female cast member and one of only two women included in the entire announcement. She joins Carrie Fisher who will be returning to the Star Wars franchise and reprising her role as Princess Leia. (It’s worth noting that Fisher is credited as playing a ‘Leia Solo’ on IMDb.) However, the film is reportedly still looking to cast another actress to join the film in a “substantial role."
Very little is known about Ridley, a British actress who has only been acting professionally for roughly one year. Her credits, of which there are few, include one-episode guest spots in various English television series, including Casualty, Youngers, Toast of London, and a two episode run in Silent Witness.

Why Watch? The official Star Wars VII cast was announced today, and between all the names that rang a bell was newcomer Daisy Ridley. So who is she? She’s done a bit of television, and she also starred in this sci-fi short film from Georgina Higgins and Lee Jones where she gets to be a badass in small doses. There are no asses being kicked, but if her physicality in Blue Season is any indication, she probably won’t be waiting at the top of any space towers waiting to be space rescued by Jedi knights. In the short, Sarah (Ridley) regains consciousness upside down in a mysterious locked room, connected by an accidental phone call to a man (Kenneth Jay) on the outside world willing to help. In another testament to the high caliber of filmmakers taking on the Sci-Fi London 48 Hour Film Challenge, this short film opens with powerful atmosphere created by dank environments...
