Maria spends one last night at home cooking and in the company of her "girls". Her grandson appears.

Maria's special cake ends up creating chaos at the investors' meeting of Gloria, her sister-in-law and neighbor. Gloria's husband, Jorge, realizes that the special ingredient in the cake is the cause and presents Maria with a business opportunity that seems to be the answer to everyone's money issues: Mama Cake.

Maria wants to prevent her grandson from becoming part of the business and discovering Mama Cake's secret ingredient. But the lack of produce forces her to do business with Morro, a gangster who works for Hans, the local drug dealer. Rumors begin to spread about Maria's products and orders skyrocket.

Poncho buys and refurbishes a food truck to expand Mama Cake's operation, but Maria doesn't want him to be part of the business. Mama Cake's success makes the police start investigating the origin of this highly popular special bread, and local drug dealers demand a share of the business.

Mama Cake continues to flourish. Maria is about to pay off her debt and to have the house for herself, which arouses suspicions in her sister-in-law, who starts investigating the business. To avoid being caught by her, the police, or the drug dealers, Maria decides to keep her plants with her friends from the nursing home. Everything seems to be under control, but an accident changes everything.

Thanks to online sales and the food truck, Mama Cake continues to flourish, but the relationship with the gangster who collects money from Maria makes it hard hiding the secret of the business from her grandson. The plants are doing great in the nursing home, thanks to the care of Maria's friends. All seems to be in Mama Cake's favor, but any mistake could expose the key to her livelihood.

Hans and his goons declare war on Mama Cake. Meanwhile, Gloria decides to take justice into her own hands and reports Maria to the police and to a rival bakery affected by Mama Cake's huge sales. The business and everyone's lives are at stake.

The members of Mama Cake try to find out who was responsible for the attack while the police finds evidence to shut down their operation. The lies and secrets finally catch up with them.

Everyone decides that, in order to survive, there can be no more lies and secrets between them or around Mama Cake. Especially when they understand that they are up against a dangerous army of gangsters led by Hans and that, in order to defeat him, they will need to gather their own troops.

Maria, together with her army, confronts Hans' gang to put an end once and for all to what began as an innocent bakery: Mama Cake.
