Well it's marketed as a romantic comedy, but it leans more towards dark humor, making it a unique experience. The film is packed with laugh-out-loud moments, seamlessly blending comedy into even the most serious scenes. It takes a bold and uncensored approach to satirizing LGBTQ+ topics, openly mocking societal perceptions while highlighting how, despite claims of progressiveness, these issues are still treated as taboos. The movie also offers a sharp critique of male chauvinism.
Vineeth Sreenivasan delivers an outstanding performance, effortlessly carrying the film with his impeccable comic timing. Scene after scene is laced with humor, making it an engaging watch. The supporting cast complements the narrative well, adding depth and energy to the film. The music is fair not something memorable, but it serves its purpose.
However, the film doesn't hold back, and its unapologetic dark humor might make some viewers feel uncomfortable or offended. It avoids political correctness entirely, which could be seen as refreshing or problematic, depending on one's perspective. Ultimately, "Oru Jaathi Jathakam" is a film that thrives on satire and dark comedy, leaving its interpretation to the audience's personal views. If you enjoy bold, no-holds-barred humor, this one's worth a watch !!

A fun laughter satire drama conveyed through slapstick humour moments.
The story revolves around a man in his late 30's struggling to find a perfect alliance for him matching the conditions set by him & his family.
Rakesh Mantodi has blended many humorous moments through the story portraying many misconceptions and expectations about married life. M Mohanan who is known for his feel good happy ending movies has moved out of his comfort zone and delivered an out and out family laughter entertainer with some sensible and thought provoking messages about relationships.
Impressive performance by Vineeth Sreenivasan as the eccentric character. Good performances by PP Kunjikrishnan, lady who played Vineeth's mother character,Thaha Thug,Renji Kankol,Pooja Mohanraj & Mridul.
Good Background score by Guna Subramaniam bringing quirkiness and excitement to the story.
A watchable flick with family as a fun relaxed weekend entertainer.

The film Oru Jaathi oru Jaathakam, is a cinematic work belonging to the genres of comedy and drama. It was directed by M. Mohanan.
The narrative is focused on the character of Jayesh, a 38-year-old who is not yet married and is in a constant search for a suitable partner. He hails from a traditional mambrathu family. The subject has a number of stipulations for his future spouse. The aforementioned conditions have had a prolonging effect on the duration of his marriage. The narrative is characterised by its focus on specific incidents related to Jayesh's pre marital life, with a discernible comedic undertone. The subject is employed in a literary company based in Chennai. He made an appointment with a broker located within his village with the purpose of arranging meetings with young women. Concurrently, he enrolled with a matrimonial service. On one occasion, Jayesh encountered a young lady in the company of his family. He subsequently sustained a fall in the bathroom of lady's house, which resulted in a state of humiliation being inflicted upon him by those present. Following the arrangement of his daughter-in-law's marriage, he vacated his residence. It was hypothesised that the subject's family unit was not demonstrating a significant degree of engagement with regard to the marital union. Following the resolution of familial issues, the subject entered into matrimony with a woman named Gopika. It is to be noted that all the necessary formalities concerning the marriage have now been completed. Prior to the nuptials, the female subject discloses to Jayesh that she has been in a relationship with a lesbian partner. The marriage has been annulled. Subsequently, it came to light that rumours were circulating regarding Jayesh's alleged homogeneity. The aforementioned events resulted in significant humiliation. Following the resolution of this issue, the gentleman entered into matrimony with a young lady. Subsequently, following the completion of the knot-tying ritual, the bride absconded with the cameraman. This incident resulted in a further humiliation for the individual concerned. It was subsequently apparent that the initial issues were, in fact, attributable to him. The subject is seeking a female partner via a matrimonial service. He compromised his conditions. However, despite extensive efforts, no suitable candidates could be identified. Subsequently, the three previously rejected proposals were reintroduced to him. The film concludes with Jayesh's unmarried status.
The narrative was of a high quality, with elements of humour. The direction provided was satisfactory. The performances are the most commendable aspect of the film. The utilisation of musical scores has been demonstrated to be a beneficial practice. This is a valuable resource for individuals who wish to watch the film once.

It's a storyline with a lot of projections of confused understanding, and an attempt to find comedy through it. Seeing the film made me really miss the ability of certain individuals who were able to make everyone laugh a decade and half ago, it was simply fun and often had a clean finish. Nowadays, not many have that skill. Another thing I noticed is Vineeth is perfect now to portrait a Kollam-based character, his energy-level gives off that vibe. I don't know if the curse word used through-out the film is something commonly used around that area or not, and not including other regional expressions made me feel like they were lazy on that end. The ideology of embracing uncertainty or ambiguity is expressed through out the film, and felt like it is the statement that the film was making. Anyhow, not that good and not that bad, but bearable than some recent ones.
This was unbearable to watch. Just like M Mohanan's past movies the characters are cartoonish and the comedy is outdated. His movies makes me feel like I'm watching a play(natakam). Aravindante Athithikal is an exception.
Coming to OJJ, the actors have done a terrible job. But with writing and direction like this, I don't think anyone could've saved this movie. Most scenes made me cringe while they were going for comedy. I don't understand why there was so many characters. None of them had any depth at all. It had a satirical nature but it simply didn't work.
It's like the writer found some topics from social media comment box and made a script around it.

This movie is for you if you want to just forget everything else and start laughing uncontrollably.
This movie deserves better ratings and reviews and i saw that its reviews were not in the zone of 7 and above that i decided to review this.
Vineeth Sreenivasan as an actor has shown great maturity and improvement. The situational comedies in the movie also make satirical mocking of patriarchy, gender norms and homophobia.
I think the film is an example of new age comedy movies where many situations are relatable to the new gen lads. But nevertheless it gives a satiating experience for all. Thank you.

Seeing a comedy film after a long time in Malayalam.
Thumps up to Vineet Srinivasan and the director.
Must watch.
Encourage more comedy movies to come.
Fed up with suspese horror detective and crime movies in Malayalam.
Now we want comedy which we missed many years back.
Better way of picturization. All have done their parts perfectly
Vineet Srinivasan in at its best role and acted very well.
Best songs and dances.
Lot of new faces acted well too
Should encourage more comedy movies in Malayalam which we missed in since last 20 years.
Excellent movie to watch in theatre. Don't miss this movie which is a gem.

The movie has a very unique storyline with fresh comedy packed throughout the movie.
All actors did a great job and even the newcomers seem to have acted very well.
The film gives a unique and realistic perspective on how arranged marriages work today and also sheds light on the current generation's preferences and choices about their partner.
In my view, this is quite an underrated movie and deserves much more credit than what is mentioned online as reviews.
Music and bgm was okay but nothing outstanding there.
Direction was done very well and there did not seem to be any lag anywhere in the movie.
