I'm still baffled by how Soori was insufferable as a comedian and is yet somehow sincere and naturalistic as a lead actor. Only his second movie in the lead following Vetrimaran's underrated "Viduthalai" last year, Soori delivers an impressive showcase of range and character in this gripping tale of family, loyalty, greed and jealousy.
R. S. Durai Senthilkumar's "Garudan" might not be a very pretty entry in the list of good Tamil movies this year, but it's effective and rich in its complex study of familial relationships. Each character is very well crafted and the way in which they all interact with each other speaks volumes to the amount of care the writers had towards telling an effective story. Sure, there are times when it could be a tad predictable, but it's never too much to be distracting. There's as much action and as much layers underneath said action to make the movie as entertaining as it is emotional. Where this movie shines the most is where it draws the line, as it consistently skirts the line of excessiveness without ever crossing into it. It's aware of its own scope and does well enough to stick within it, making any slip up (which of course there are many of) forgivable.
It's not a movie I went into expecting anything, but walked out of it pretty satisfied with what I watched. It's very worth your time and I would happily recommend you check it out!

A corrupt minister eyes for grabbing an unclaimed land dedicated to a temple. He plans to steal the original land documents kept at a bank's safe locker. Meanwhile Inspector Muthuvel is tasked to gather all the information about Karuna, Aadhi and Karuna's loyalist Sokkan, as these three are the main hurdle for the minister. The main root cause for all problems - land, money and women. These causes rift between Karuna and Aadhi whereas Sokkan getting caught in between. His loyalty comes at a hefty price as the rift leads to betrayal and murder. How Sokkan rushes karma over the real culprits while protecting the victims, forms rest of the story.
This rural based story involving a temple's land being a main dispute has a decent premise but the screenplay falters big time. The attempt at narrating this story's conflict through land, money and woman suffers heavily from generic writing right from the beginning. We have a bunch of template baddies and to make it worse, the good ones too are one toned. Aadhi is righteous with anger issues, Karuna is the heir from once a rich family and Sokkan is loyal in an unbearable way. The pace is uneven throughout and the director resorts to unnecessary violence. The half baked love story doesn't help either. In the attempt to glorify Soori as Sokkan and Sasikumar as Aadhi, the scenes remain outdated.

RECOMMENDED
The movie is extraordinary in the first half and the interval block is so thrilling to close as "Naadodigal" one interval block.... The character and story development was fantastic.
Liked the lead trio characters most and Soori's silence and "non-stop" dialogs to reveal the truths are ultimate.
The second half also good, but the freshness in the first half was missing.
Too much of violence also little bit minus. And the after credit scene is 80's cinema cliche.
The overall screenplay and cast makes the movie as a worth watch in big screen.

Story of how a Dog becomes a man... No offence- I just wanted to convey the conviction of faith like a dog converts to valuable emotional
The story revolves with the trio all the time Sasi Kumar, Soori and Unni with tensions all the time. Sasi Kumar and Soori have done exceptionally well and it's Sasi Kumar the hero of the movie supported by Soori. Sasi stole the stage almost the whole show and Soori at last 30 mins. Shivada, vadivukarasi and remembered for their performance and the heroine Revathi gets hidden and not so worthy.. Roshini enters the silver screen and worthy role and if she does these supporting roles, she can atleast earn fame and money - but if she demands heroine roles, just get lost...
Overall violence is heavily shown and I wonder how U/A was provided. Songs and BGM did not stick to mind and Yuvan never came to mind.

I went to this movie randomly and I was shocked to see this movie. A great acting by SasiKumar, Soori and Unni, interesting screenplay by the director.
Sasikumar, Soori and Unni acted perfectly driven the character and made us to the edge of the seat in the interval block. This story revolves around two friends and who protect the temple and friendship.
Soori - He gave the best and elevates the character he played.
Sasikumar - Played the character that he never played.
Unni - He played another important role which supports the story.
You will seriously enjoy and talk about this movie and fully satisfied with the movie. #Rock #Soori #Sasikumar #Unni.
