De ring

Whereas previous reviewer stated that the underlying premise is bad, I would not say so. Everyone can make stupid decisions, it does not matter if you're a lawyer or not. And also, evil persons exist, even though we wish they don't.

Of course you can keep your eyes shut for this, but this doesn't make it less true.

Even though, being a lawyer myself, I found some flaws in the way the series addresses legal matters, this does not make this series less appealing. I found most main characters rounded, especially Anna (Annie) and Max. You get to know their deeper thoughts and what drives them. Sometimes these things may seem to conflict with other parts of their personality, but this actually makes them way more human. People have these internal conflicts. To me this seems to be the underlying premise of 'De Ring' which makes it very intriguing and an interesting watch.

What makes it a 7 instead of a higher rating is because I found it quite evident who the murderer was.

I am not sure wether the director and the actors can be blamed for this badly written script. I would not believe in it either after reading it. The premise is already ridiculous. I could not believe it would be salvageable in any way. It seems they have tried to fix it, but how can anyone fix such a bad premise? The actors and the director are certainly not able to do anything about it. The actors are not delivering their best work, but can we blame them? On the other hand, they did not have to go along with this. However, it is tempting to take a job with a decent salary. What could go wrong with a few prominent professionals who have already proven themselves in the Dutch film industry? Well, this...

Great whodunnit series, kept me guessing till last episode. It is quite tense thriller, bordering on horror and the story is not for faint hearted. It exceeded my expectations, ended up binging the lot in one day.

IMHO the actors are really good, as is production. The plot - well it is not a documentary, so we need to allow for some unlikely twists, but all good in general.

I haven't watched much Dutch stuff before and I was quite fascinated seeing so many pushbikes being used by people from all walks of life.

Again, Harlan Coben - eat your heart out ;-) I'd like to recommend this show, providing one can find it...
