Mark Duplass Proudly Helps His Daughter Ora Make Her Film Debut In Oh, Christmas Tree
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag. Tribeca Film Festival showcases high-quality indie short films, including Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton's Oh, Christmas Tree. The short packs an emotional punch in 11 minutes, exploring a poignant story about mental health and family dynamics. Directing a short film in one day was a special experience for Ora Duplass, whose film debut emphasizes the power of storytelling over big budgets.

Tribeca Film Festival may be known for its feature-length movie offerings, but it is also a great place for high-quality indie short films. Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton recently premiered their new project Oh, Christmas Tree there, which also served as their daughter Ora Duplass' onscreen debut. Directed by Aselton from a screenplay by the elder Duplass, the short manages to pack an emotional punch in a mere 11 minutes.

Oh, Christmas Tree follows 16-year-old Claire (played by Ora) and her father...

The Duplass Family Isn’t Alarmist About a ‘Cratering’ Industry: Indies Have Always Been ‘You Must Destroy Yourself to Get There’
Image
The Duplasses are starting miniature with their first full-fledged family affair on all sides of the camera: the short film “Oh, Christmas Tree,” a bittersweet 10-minute ode to a father and daughter reliving their favorite holiday traditions.

It’s written by Mark Duplass, directed by his wife Katie Aselton (“Mack and Rita“), and stars their 16-year-old daughter Ora opposite her dad in roles that aren’t exactly autobiographical despite the onscreen, lived-in rapport. Here, the mother is dead, and the daughter, Claire, is now the one doing the parenting as her father grapples with mental health struggles. The short, currently seeking buyers out of Tribeca Festival, packs a lot into its brief running time, and for this trio, it also marks Ora’s entry into filmmaking as she readies to follow in her parents’ footsteps.

“Oh, Christmas Tree” is close to home in other ways: The Duplass family brain factory...

The Morning Show Season 4 Filming Start Window Revealed By Star Mark Duplass
Image
The Morning Show season 4 begins filming in about a month, but little is known about the plot. Mark Duplass shares that he hasn't seen a script yet, with a theory as to why that is the case. Duplass's character, Charlie, may play a pivotal role in the upcoming season after a dramatic season 3 finale.

The Morning Show season 4 gets an amusing update from star Mark Duplass, who plays producer Charlie Black. It's been more than six months since the season 3 finale, in which Bradley quit her high-profile news anchor position and had to face the music for her part in covering up her brother's involvement in the January 6th riots. Though The Morning Show season 4 has confirmed a new cast member, with Oscar winner Marion Cotillard as the savvy Celine Dumont, not much is known about the next chapter of the soapy Apple TV+ Original.

In an interview with Screen...

5 Things to Know About Fifty Shades Darker Baddie Eric Johnson
Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan in Fifty Shades of Grey: Gefährliche Liebe (2017)
Warning: sexy spoilers ahead!

If Fifty Shades Darker actor Eric Johnson totally creeped you out as Ana’s pushy, harassy new boss Jack Hyde, you might take comfort in the fact that he also creeped himself out while playing the character — an unhinged, angry type who takes an unhealthy interest in Ana (Dakota Johnson).

“This one was weird for me,” Johnson, 37, tells People. “I’ve played bad guys and done horrible violent things, but it was something about the violence towards women that was really gross. It’s messed up! At the end of the day I felt so gross about myself.
