#Azaad: A Missed Opportunity

While Azaad stems from an interesting idea, it falters in its execution. A gripping script is the backbone of any engaging film, and unfortunately, this one misses the mark. The narrative lacks consistency, with a sluggish first half and half-baked characters failing to build a strong emotional connection. Despite the slow pacing, the finale is impactful and provides a brief glimpse of what the film could have achieved with better writing.

Director #AbhishekKapoor, known for his storytelling finesse, does his best with the material at hand.

Standout moments include #AjayDevgn's intensity, #AamanDevgan's sincere performance, #RashaThadani's confident debut, and the bonding between #Azaad and the horse. However, the dull screenwriting, underwhelming music (except for #UyiAmma), and lack of a strong romantic track weigh the film down.

Fails to connect emotionally.

Tone, Script & Story: The story is set in 90's India. It's a story of a horse named Azaad. He belongs to Baaghi played by Ajay. Anyone who sees this horse falls in love with him at first instance and wants to own him. Guy played by Aman is no different. Further it's the story if Aman will win.

Being an animal lover I liked the concept where the story revolved around horse, but the problem is it fails to connect emotionally

Direction, Screenplay, Cinematography: The mukhiyas, the angrej, the caretaker of horses, their families, the Baaghis, etc have been captured well. Despite that, who is to blame for no connection with audience? Music is below average. Acting is justified.

Final Verdict: You will like it if you are animal lover, else it's an outdated drama.

A solid debut by Aaman Devgan, less so by Rasha Thadani

Overview: This movie was entertaining enough, with an interesting and novel storyline. However, it was just too long, cutting 30 minutes of the movie would have served it well to make the story more compact and engaging. Let's be clear the purpose of this movie was to launch two new actors Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani and with that in mind it did give the two young actors plenty of screentime to showcase their acting chops.

The movie was clearly an opportunity to launch 2 "star kids" but was done with a unique storyline which I did appreciate.

Plot: This period piece centers around village boy Govind (Aaman Devgan), and his love for horses. As a peasant he does not have money to access or own a horse of his own. Through a series of events, he ends up joining the gang of freedom fighter Vikram Singh (Ajay Devgn), and later on inherits his legendary horse, Azaad. The rest of the movie is about him bonding with this impressive horse as well as helping his village folk out of their debt struggles. This is interlaced with a love story with daughter of the landlord, Janaki (Rasha Thadani).

Acting: I was really impressed by Aaman Devgan as an actor. In the role of Govind, he put in a solid showing with what was potentially a challenging role. Excited to see more of him as he clearly has acting talent and is a good dancer as well. Rasha Thadani on the other hand was more of a disappointment, her accent was not great for the role she was playing, she was not able to get rid of that South Bombay accent. Also, there was some really unbelievable fake crying from her. That being said her portrayal was not terrible and it is her first movie, we could see improvement from her yet. All other performances are decent with nothing exceptional, and Ajay Devgn makes a brief appearance mostly to support his nephew.

Music: Music is generally good and adds to what is going on onscreen.

Conclusion: Worth a watch, it is entertaining, but it isn't going to blow you away. You will also probably find it repetitive and draggy in the middle.

Azaad - An attempt to keep Bollywood balanced

In the Bollywood era of films with zero meaning and reoccurring plot, this movie gives hope to the og lovers of Bollywood. It shows the potential that upon trying harder the Indian industry of movies can produce something original and meaningful.

Though there were several areas like where improvements can be made. The horse riders and britisher roles lacked acting skills. The story build up could have been better with more research.

The MC did an amazing work with acting and character development. The role of female MC was short yet powerful.

It was refreshing to not see the typical love story between a man and a woman but a story of loyalty and between a man and a horse.

Better than expected

I recently watched the movie on OTT and honestly it's not half bad. I enjoyed the performances and the movie overall, it was a nice one time watch.

Enjoyed Aaman Devgan's performance, he had a good screen presence or maybe the other debuts have been so bad that he seemed fine in comparison. It felt very sincere but other characters didnt have much weight and felt gimmicky.

Liked that the movie was animal centric and didn't over indulge in unnecessary love stories.

Overall a good watch on OTT, maybe in the theatre this might have been disappointing.

I'm honestly looking forward to Aaman's next performances.

Disaster

What a complete disaster.

Azaad is easily one of the worst movies I've sat through in a long time. There's no plot, no emotion, no direction, just a painfully boring mess pretending to be meaningful. It feels like someone had a vague idea, scribbled half a script, and then decided "yeah, this is good enough."

The acting? Flat and lifeless. The characters? Cardboard cutouts with zero development. The pacing? Glacial. I kept checking the time, wondering how a movie this empty could still be going. Even the music, which could've saved something, was forgettable at best and annoying at worst.

It tries to be profound, but ends up being laughably self-important. A total waste of time. If you haven't watched it yet, do yourself a favor and don't. Seriously.

The overall rating of 4.7 is not justified

I almost didn't watch this movie because of the poor rating. But, my wife and I wanted to see how the newcomers performed. Was waiting for a dull moment because of the rating but the movie finished and we couldn't find any. We both are animal lovers and we loved how the film was centered around azaad. We could predict certain things in the movie but that's okay. It didn't have surprising twists and plots that will keep you on edge but the story itself is nice and will keep you occupied. The direction was good and the VFX was decent too. Both Aaman and Rasha performed really well. Overall, the movie is a decent watch.

A decent film with good acting

Rasha and Aaman have recently made their debuts in the entertainment industry, and their entry has certainly caught the attention of many. What stands out about them, however, is not just the fact that they are newcomers, but the way they have managed to break away from the stereotype of being "nepo kids"-children of well-known celebrities who often get a free pass into the industry without much effort or talent. They trained hard to hone their acting skills, unlike many star kids who struggle with basic acting. Their dedication and effort are evident in their performances. Aaman, in particular, stands out for his impressive portrayal of his character.

Toooo good movie honestly

This movies show the loyalty and love of the horse this beautiful creature and also emotionally.. Seriously that was the amazing movie.

The real hero was was Azaad( the horse) Emotions ,Love and Drama shown by him.

The cinematography is breathtaking, perfectly capturing the era's rustic beauty and emotional intensity. Every scene feels like a painting come to life.

Bond Beyond Words: The connection between the stable boy and the majestic horse, Azaad, is pure magic. Their journey of courage and rebellion had me hooked throughout! The last scene will surely make you cry and burst out in tears because of the emotional depth.

Everything was incredibly amazing

Superb acting by #Ajay Devgan Sir and #Aaman Devgan.

Nice movie, better than expected.

I had low hopes for this movie since it flopped in cinemas and the reviews aren't great but I was pleasantly surprised!

I like the fact the movie was about the horse "Azaad" it feels like a fresh storyline. I think movie was good, didn't feel like it was unnecessarily dragged anywhere.

Now coming to the acting I was honestly impressed by Amaan Devgan's performance considering it's his debut and I had no expectations from him since he seemed rather expressionless in the "Uyi Amma" song. He gave a solid performance whereas Rasha Thadani seemed like she really tried bless her but her crying scenes were a bit forced. Overall acting was good from both debutants.

I'll give it 8/10, good watch. :)

Good movie

I really enjoyed this movie Not like other bollywood movie with nonsense topics It has fresh topic Depicting that biggest battle can be won by affectionate bonding between a human and animal Ajay Devgan best role Rasha debut is best I found I would also appreciate Mohit Malik role And most important Azaad.

Somewhere the movie feels little bit boring and overall impression was nice

Ajay Devgan fighting scenes with Britishers is impressive but he should remain alive till the end of movie then movie will have more impact

As it is a debut movie yet with such a fantastic performance I will give it 10 stars.

Fresh concept. Need more movies like this

Azaad (2024) - A Roaring Saga of Strength, Sacrifice, and Justice

Azaad by Ajay Devgn is a masterfully crafted cinematic experience that blends action, emotion, and a powerful sense of justice into an unforgettable narrative. With breathtaking cinematography, intense action sequences, and a gripping storyline, the film captures the essence of resilience and the fight against oppression without falling into predictable clichés. Ajay Devgn delivers a commanding performance, embodying a character whose journey is both inspiring and deeply moving. The film's pacing keeps the audience engaged, with every scene contributing to a larger, emotionally charged picture. What makes Azaad truly special is its ability to resonate beyond just entertainment-it ignites a fire within, making viewers reflect on the meaning of freedom, loyalty, and sacrifice. The background score amplifies the intensity, while the direction ensures that every moment feels raw and real. Ekdum First Class

Its movie is wonderfull must watch and share.

The heart of Azaad lies not just in its compelling storyline or breathtaking visuals, but in the performances of its cast, who bring depth, authenticity, and chemistry to every frame. Each actor, whether in a leading role or as part of the ensemble, contributes to the film's emotional weight and immersive experience.

Ajay Devgan Sir delivers a powerhouse performance, capturing the nuances of their character with impressive precision. Their ability to balance vulnerability with strength is particularly striking, making the character's journey not only believable but emotionally resonant. Whether they are navigating moments of deep introspection or high-stakes drama, their presence on screen is magnetic.

Liked it cause this type of movies may we want from Bollywood that make sense!

Azad is deserves to be celebrated for its originality and emotional depth. It's a film that not only entertains but also inspires, leaving you with a sense of hope and admiration for the indomitable spirit of both humans and animals. This type of movies actually vanished from bollywood.

Also new actors are in this movie is a reason for watching it, or for anyone looking for something different from Bollywood, Azad is a must-watch. It's a film that stays with you long after the credits roll, reminding you of the power of freedom, resilience, and the unique connections that shape our lives. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and recommend it to anyone seeking a refreshing and heartwarming experience.

Good movie but lost out on incorrect promotion

This movie is based on the loyalty of a horse towards its master. The master is torn between social dilemmas during the 1920s when the Indian subcontinent was governed by the British Raj. The story has many layers about love, lost love, social hierarchy, and tax loot by the elite zamindars and the British. But from all of these, it chose to promote a simple dance "item" song, which does not even fit properly within the context of this movie. I think the major marketing and audience pull of this movie revolved around the song "Uiyamma," which has nothing to do with the movie and has been put in a dream sequence. This attracted the "wrong" kind of audience due to the mismatch of expectations and the actual target of this movie: history buffs were ignored entirely.

If you love historical fiction, this movie is for you since it comments on all the societal evils and the difficulties an Indian citizen could face during that era.

Azaad - A Truly Underrated Movie! (100% My Honest Review)

First of all, Azaad was absolutely amazing! I don't understand why people didn't like it as much because, for me, it was such a well-made and emotionally touching film. The way it portrayed the bond between humans and horses was truly beautiful, and I felt so connected to it while watching.

Rasha and Aaman Devgn made their debut in this film, and honestly, they did an incredible job! I've seen other debut films of actors, and compared to those, I think their performances were even better. Despite being new, their acting felt natural, and they had such great screen presence. I especially loved Rasha's dance-she looked so confident and graceful! It's rare to see debut performances that feel this polished, and they both really impressed me.

I get that some people feel the movie lacked certain elements, but personally, I didn't mind at all because the emotional depth and the performances made up for it. Azaad deserved way more appreciation than it got! I would love to see more movies with Rasha and Aaman because they make such a good on-screen pair, and I'm sure they have a bright future ahead.

This is 100% my honest review, and I truly enjoyed every bit of Azaad!

Excellent wrt Bollywood

I have no idea who rated this 4.8 stars-maybe it's a paid negative propaganda. This movie easily deserves at least 8 stars! It completely defies the usual Bollywood formula and stands out with its refreshing storytelling. Yes, it has nepo kids, but surprisingly, their performances are commendable, showing depth and sincerity. The story is inspiring, filled with emotions, and keeps you engaged throughout. It reminds me of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron in its uplifting message of perseverance and courage. A must-watch for those who appreciate heartfelt cinema !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paisa Vasool

The movie was brilliant! Acting for both the debutant was on point. Story was good.

Overall loved the movie. As it was a story from a time where India was struggling for independence. This story might help the Gen Z to understand the pain that our ancestors had to go through. To connect the Morden generation to the history these kinds of movie are important. It was pure cinema bliss to see such an amazing story and performance.

Each and everyone should watch it. It will definitely make you fall in love with the animals loyalty and this movie 2qs based on a house and it's loyalty towards it's master.

Breathtaking cinematography

Amazing debut. Thankgod it didn't turn out like the other nepo kids' debut like naadaniyan etc. I don't see the unnecessary hate here, movie kept me engaged throughout. I agree it was a little slow in the middle but the cutesy romance and the final showdown and ajay devgans incredible perfomance make this def worth watching. It is a strong 8/10 for me but people are unnecessarily hating so I'm giving a 10 just to raise the average :) watch on tv or a bigger screen btw bec phone or smaller devices won't cater to the best experience designated for the film. Uii amma felt kind of forced but it's okay the other soundtracks were definitely way better than nowadays bollywood. This movie made me v charismatic towards horses and I love it. It was incredibly well performed and the bond between ajays son (sorry I forgot his name)and the horse azaad was incredibly well displayed. Do watch it!

The performances are deeply moving, drawing the viewer into every scene with authenticity and power. The pacing is perfect, never dragging, always engaging. The direction is visionary, with each moment building toward an unforgettable climax. It's a cinematic triumph that lingers long after the credits roll, stirring the soul and sparking reflection. A truly unforgettable journey that defines the magic of storytelling at its finest.🔥🔥🔥 ✅✅🔥

"Azaad" (2025): A Must-Watch Epic with Stellar Performances and Unforgettable Bonding

Azaad (2025) is a visually stunning epic that not only showcases the incredible acting of the horse, whose expressions and movements bring a deep emotional connection to the story, but also features outstanding set and costume designs that beautifully capture the historical setting. Rasha Thadani, in her debut role, impresses with her remarkable acting skills, delivering a performance that rivals those of her contemporaries, and showing a depth of talent reminiscent of her mother's exceptional work. However, it is Aaman Devgan, Ajay Devgn's nephew, who truly steals the show with his extraordinary performance. His portrayal of Govind, alongside his bond with the horse Azaad, is nothing short of captivating-his nuanced acting and emotional depth elevate the film to another level. Bollywood needs more films like Azaad that focus on such heartfelt connections and explore themes of loyalty and resilience in such a powerful way.
