Nicolas Cage is a huge fan of Neon Flesh (2010), Paco Cabezas's second movie and the one that caught the attention of Hollywood. According to Cabezas, Cage specially loved the performance of Macarena Gómez, and even tried to have her on Tokarev for a role, but Gómez's schedule didn't allow it.
The Mustang Nicolas Cage drives is the same paint scheme (gun-metal gray with black racing stripes) as Eleanor, the 1967 Mustang GT500 from Nur noch 60 Sekunden (2000), which also stars Cage.
Filmed in Mobile, Alabama.
Nicolas Cage and Peter Stormare previously co-starred in 8mm: Acht Millimeter (1999) and Windtalkers (2002).
