Sabina (Alba Fontecha) is a very artistic young woman and is convinced that one day she will succeed as a designer, actress, scriptwriter or film director because she is destined, as she delusionally believes, to success. Meanwhile, like almost all of her generation, she ekes out a living freeloading at her parents' (Juan Carlos Martín, Luchi López) house, until one night she has, unfortunately for others, a luxury opportunity... and she will not hesitate to take advantage of it no matter what the cost and without thinking about it too much.
Norberto Ramos del Val, director and scriptwriter, tells us the story of a not-so-young girl of about thirty-something years old who still lives with her parents and who is unemployed, facing an uncertain future.
A bittersweet comedy set in Madrid to which the director pays tribute by showing some images of the neighborhoods and the center of the capital, but showing them at the beginning of the film with lots of construction work to be done.
An uneven comedy in low budget dealing with the modern relationships, the current situation of young people, who are mostly unemployed or working in arduous jobs, and taking advantage of any event, no matter how horribly circumstantial, to make a living. Direction, a script full of old jokes and clichés, it is not credible, not humor at all, and a mediocre narrative.
The most sympathetic and ironic scenes are those referring to the council of a production to make a film, in which our starring, impersonating an identity, is going to participate. There, all its members earnestly beg request their participation quota belonging to LGTBIQ+ (it is made up of the initials of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Transvestite, Intersexual, Queer and other identities not included in the previous ones), since they represent different identities and gender expressions, and sexual orientations.
The performances of the mostly unknown actors are merely natural and functional, acting in direct sound, so that it is often difficult to understand what they say. The main actress Alba Fontecha who usually works for Norberto Del Val is passable, but perhaps the only one who stands out among the mediocre cast is the somewhat well-known supporting actor Juan Carlos Martín who has a long career in both film and television. And in the room where the production council meets, two posters from previous films by director Norberto del Val can be seen hanging on the wall: ¡Ni teme acerques! And Faraday.
For its freshness, ingenuity, and spontaneous scenes, the film is reminiscent of those directed by Pedro Almodovar in his early days, such as Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del montón (1980) and Labyrinth of Passion (1982).
The motion picture was original but mediocrely directed by Norberto Ramos del Val, though he tries -at times- to extract agile jokes Ramos del Val does not seek to trivialize or, on the contrary, demand anything, the film simply manages to relax the atmosphere. Norberto is a craftsman who has written/produced/directed various films, shorts , documentary in low budget , such as : Codón es una maquina (2023), Atando el tiempo (2022) , ¡Ni te me acerques ! (2020), Lucero (2019) , Call TV (2017) , El cielo en el infierno (2016), Amor tóxico (2015), Faraday (2013), Pepón es guay (2013) , Summertime (2012), Obi (2011), El último fin de semana (2011). Soy una buena persona, rating : 4.5/10.
