I myself as a young high school student of the 21st century Australian society was so captivated by this series. Although I was quite bewildered with the story line at first and even at some point resented the fact that the crew did not acknowledge Mr Van's family emotions before documenting this series as it could be quite traumatizing to relive what a mother's worst nightmare, their child's death. I also found that there was quite a fair amount of swearing involved but i surpassed that factor. However, the more time i invested into to watching this series the more i received a thorough understanding of the drug addictions within the Asian culture and how dominant it can be to the extent that a family can become unified to solve this predicament. "Better man" has it share of agony, sentiments, drama and all of those themes that would compel any person into watching and analyzing how determination of a brother's will to help another would lead to his own tragedy. Overall, this series was well portrayed and presented and I was pleased to watch this dramatically heart-felt series.

The portrayal of Singaporean accent was done so badly. They sounded like they were from Philippines. It was a very gripping miniseries but better research was needed with the representation of Singapore.

What a waste of time this production was. Firstly to idolise a convicted crimes in a series and making heroes out of drug traffickers is a sad excuse for a show. The casting is also off putting, with the usual Australian faces and lead actors who are worlds apart from being Vietnamese. Are there no Vietnamese actors out there? Absolute waste of time.
