Steven Knight's This Town has been canceled by the BBC. This Town failed to hit the viewership figures the BBC desired. Knight will also work on the next James Bond movie with Denis Villeneuve and other industry heavyweights.
Peaky Blinderscreator Steven Knight is one of the UK's most prestigious and prolific writers. From the highly-rated Sas: Rogue Heroesto the Hulu series A Thousand Blows starring Stephen Graham, Knight has a wonderful track record of producing critically acclaimed and popular series for the small screen. However, it seems one of his most recent projects, the music-themed historical seriesThis Town, hasn't quite lived up to Knight's normal standards and now faces the chopping block.
According to new reports,This Town has now been officially axed by the BBC following its debut season, despite receiving some positive reception, with a decent 67% critics' score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, joined by an impressive 83% rating from audience members.

The next era of James Bond has officially found its storyteller — and it’s a big one. Steven Knight, the acclaimed writer and creator of Peaky Blinders, has been tapped to pen the screenplay for the next 007 installment, with Denis Villeneuve set to direct. Speaking for the first time since the news broke, Knight joined BBC Radio this morning to share his excitement and promise fans something new.
“It has always been on my bucket list, and it’s fantastic to be invited to do it,” Knight said. “I can’t wait to get started.”
And while he remained tight-lipped on who will be stepping into the shoes of Bond himself — “That is a very, very good question, and one I can’t give you the answer to,” he laughed — the screenwriter made one thing clear: this isn’t going to be just another 007 film. “I’m hoping that,...

“It has always been on my bucket list, and it’s fantastic to be invited to do it. I can’t wait to get started,” Knight said.
“I’m hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it will be imbued into me and I will be able to produce something that’s the same but different, and better, stronger and bolder.”
Knight will be writing the screenplay for Denis Villeneuve to direct; however, the writer would not be drawn on who might star as 007.

Steven Knight is the latest bold faced name to join the James Bond creative team.
Knight will write the script for filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, who is directing the next 007 film for Amazon MGM Studios and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman.
Knight’s hiring marks an end of an era for the Bond franchise, at least in terms of its writers. Actor Daniel Craig said goodbye to the character with 2021’s No Time To Die, which also was the last Bond movie to be shaped by longtime scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who worked on the franchise beginning with 1999’s The World Is Not Enough.
Knight is a respected scribe, who is working on a Peaky Blinders film and whose past work includes the 2002, feature Dirty Pretty Things, for which he earned an original screenplay Oscar nomination, Eastern Promises and Spencer, as well as creating the Jason Momoa Apple series See.

The Voice Season 27 continued on Monday with the fourth batch of Blind Audition performances. Adam Levine maxed out his advantages during Episode 3, blocking one artist from picking Kelsea Ballerini and then using his Coach Replay to scoop up another. He also won his fourth four-chair turn of the season. Going into day four, John Legend was the only one with a Coach Replay still to use. Returning champion Michael Bublé came into the night ready to fight hard for artists he liked, but Kelsea was not going to let him get away with any of them too easily. By the end of the night, they went head-to-head in competition for four different artists.
The first one Michael was keen on pulling on to his team was 19-year-old Texan Hailey Wright representing her Choctaw heritage with pride. Michael and Kelsea were the only coaches that turned for her performance of Freddy Fender...

The BBC and Netflix have garnered the most nods at the upcoming Royal Television Society (Rts) Craft & Design Awards with 31 and 16 nominations respectively.
BBC series “Lost Boys & Fairies” led the way with four nominations while Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer” garnered three.
Other Netflix shows to be nominated including the recently-canceled mythological series “Kaos” and the adaptation of David Nicholls’ “One Day.”
The ceremony will take place on Dec. 2 at the London Hilton.
“On joining this year as chair of the awards I was extremely confident that the calibre of entries would be high,” said Emma Gormley, chair of the Rts Craft & Design Awards. “However, the submissions we subsequently received have exceeded all expectations, further demonstrating how U.K. creatives are global leaders in the television and streaming space. The nominations we have announced today highlight the incredible range of diverse, genre-defining content that is being created by U.K.

Backed by Mediaset España and Movistar Plus+, Cadiz’s South International Series Festival made an inaugural splash last year, showcasing some of Spain’s biggest series of the season.
In 2024, the Andalusia-based event has moved to a post-Mipcom stop-over berth, and with France as the guest country, attendance could well scale up.
Spain has hosted major TV markets for years now, including Conecta Fiction each summer and Iberseries & Platino Industria, which unspooled in Madrid last week. South sets itself apart by being a true festival in the vein of Canneseries or the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in France. While there will be plenty of roundtables, networking, and B2B get-togethers at South, the event’s main objective is to showcase some of the best new and new-ish series from around the world.

A Discovery of Witches immediately gained popularity once the AMC show was added to Netflix, and I can tell you that I'm definitely not surprised. The fantasy series has all the elements to make it a success, and it's just so great to see. There's also only three seasons and they're not particularly long, so it's easy to get through quickly.
If you've reached season 3, then you might have noticed a different actor playing Baldwin Montclair, aka Matthew Clairmont's vampire brother. So why did Trystan Gravelle leave A Discovery of Witches (Adow) and why isn't he in the third season? Well, it all came down to scheduling conflicts during filming.

By order of Netflix, Steven Knight's long-awaited Peaky Blinders movie is officially happening! The Peaky Blinders movie is in final stages, with shooting scheduled to start in September. Cillian Murphy is eager to return as Thomas Shelby. Fans can expect a film that will leave them "shocked and delighted," promises Steven Knight.
The eagerly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie is just undergoing "final polishes", confirms series creator Steven Knight. First debuting in 2013, the British drama told the story of the Shelby family, who run various legal and illegal enterprises across Birmingham following the First World War. The whole concept of art triumphing over every worldly problem sounds novel on paper, but it’s really hard to execute on screen. There’s a huge risk of things turning into a gimmicky mess. But that’s not the case with Steven Knight’s latest show, This Town, which is truly magnificent in every possible sense. It drops you in a world of chaos that is filled with genuinely likable characters worthy enough to root for. Engaging from the spectacular opening sequence of a riot breaking out to the final scene of a maddeningly beautiful concert, This Town is an ingenious piece of work. The 80s’ set Irish drama is a heady mix of many genres, from crime noir to coming of age to dysfunctional family drama to musical. Imagine if Sons of Anarchy was made by John Carney, and you get the idea!

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is taking audiences back to Birmingham with his new BBC series This Town. Set in the West Midlands in the 1980s, at a time of great political unrest, the show follows the formation of a band against such a backdrop of terror and violence and sparked a revolutionary chapter in the history of modern music. Knight’s iconic crime drama Peaky Blinders was also set primarily in Birmingham, but This Town is a more personal project for the British screenwriter, director, and producer, as it’s set during a time that he lived through and experienced first-hand. The music-themed series recounts the explosion of ska and two-tone that united youths and artists of all races and ages from the late 70s through the 80s in Coventry and Birmingham.

Pop music’s resident lover boys Niall Horan and Shawn Mendes charmed London on Friday night with a surprise performance of “Treat You Better.” Horan welcomed Mendes to the stage halfway through the latest stop on The Show: Live on Tour, sliding the appearance in between the tender ballads “Flicker” and “This Town.”
Both singers played guitar as they led the arena in a singalong of Mendes’ hit single from 2016’s Illuminate. “That’s my boy!” Horan exclaimed as his guest exited the stage. The appearances marks Mendes’ first live performance in almost a year.
