Three Chords and the Truth

What really makes this a heartbreaking and heartwarming film is the outstandingly authentic performance by Jackie Marshall, who also exhibits extraordinary bravery by giving completely powerful musical performances in character, and appears nude, showing her mastectomy. Gripping throughout, it will be difficult for anyone with any experience of trauma to make it through the film without tears. The songs are simply stunning, with such impact and nuance, full of subtle allusions, combining directness with sophistication, and showing Jackie Marshall as truly one of the most vital singer-songwriters of our time.

This film has everything in it to be a hit but unfortunately it's not the case.

Yes the actress is great and her story is unreal but the unfortunately the production lets it down. It never hooked me. I was distracted and I felt like I was watching a project that didn't have the right team behind it. I feel this should have been a proof of concept to raise proper funding and then made properly.

It's unfair for the actors and those who worked on it but that's the territory of films on this scale.

Remember we're watching a movie (not reading a book or listening to a podcast) so make sure it's nice to watch, make it worth while, reward the viewer with a cinematic experience.

This Australian film had a lot of hype behind it but in my opinion is a very poor production.

The quality is just shocking.

They done a great job with the sound mix, but the direction and feel of this just feels horribly low budget and poor quality. I feel sorry for those who worked on it as it is not a good film to be attached to. Especially Bonsai Films. I am used to them doing better quality stuff. This is definitely a step down. I actually heard that Claire wasn't the director on this, which is a shame because we need to practice ethical filmmaking (not the case here).

Embarrassing to see this even be selected at the Sydney Film Festival.

It's not very often I say don't watch a movie but this might just be it. The production quality of this film is horrible. I would have been better filming off my mobile phone.

The story is okay. I did feel like I connected with the lead actress but wow was it hard to watch. Such a poorly paced film. I was checking the time throughout, the Director should have made this a short film. Bad decision making this a feature length and surprised to find out that the Sydney Film Festival wanted it, surly they arnt that in need of films. Kind of embarrassing to be honest, Australian film is just going down the drain.

This movie feels heaps longer than it actually is. I'm not sure if that's an editing problem or a story problem but nevertheless.

At times it feels like the crew have just walked around and filmed random scenes with no direction, it doesn't feel intentional or planned and to be honest it comes off really tacky. Not sure what budget was but I'm expecting they didn't even have one, putting this quality of work out is not a good look. The lead actress seems to have played a good role, she is a great actor but the production has let her down which is such a shame.

If you're planning on watching a decent film this is not it. Hate to be harsh but the truth is the truth.
