Watching this film for the first time captured my attention on key details about the story and with the character Shane Lucas that makes it so interesting. Visualizing his enemies before it actually happened is what made it so good! Especially how there is a message being sent here about overcoming your fears, staying focused on the task at hand, and not letting your past control you, that you have a choice in the present moment to take control of your life. The way the cinematography was shot with the superb acting done with Jon Paul, Christofer Aguero, and the rest of the cast made this short film a masterpiece.

In this short file Dojo Jon Paul a retired Nationally and International judo competitor with excellent tactical and technical ability in Judo and Self Defense demonstrate and applies throughout the film outstanding Judo and self defense moves and techniques that leaves you breathtaking.

As Judo Teacher for many years I was very impressed by the way the short film director was able to captured step by step all of the moves of the judo and self defense techniques in such a way that makes you feel as if you were next to the action in the dojo.

I highly recommend all Martial Art students to see.

I've seen Dojo many times and I consider it a little masterpiece! It is a project realized in a professional way, with an amazing cinematography. In our Wild Filmmaker Festival circuit we have awarded Dojo several times because it's a perfect example of an indie action movie. I hope to see a feature version of Dojo!

It is not easy to produce an action movie, we all know that important budgets are needed, but a team of artists with the right idea and the right skills can realize any enterprise. I am convinced that Dojo is the first great step of a fantastic journey.

Dojo is a powerful gem of martial arts cinema! If you know about story and film and what it takes to make a good one, you'll enjoy this film! It's as perfect as a martial arts film can be! Jon Paul's performance as the lead actor is excellent and so is martial arts choreography which is as real as it gets! The actors are real martial artists doing what they do best and then some! Because the acting is spot on, natural and believable. The story takes precedence which is something that really made me happy! Character, theme and plot are synchronized! This story is very well written!

The film's cinematography superb! The film in general is very engaging from start to finish and I enjoyed every single minute of it! Dojo is an absolute stunning masterpiece of martial arts cinema! I highly recommend it to everyone! Especially to martial artist and martial arts enthusiasts!

The production and quality of film is next level and I am happy to find out that this short film has won so many awards worldwide. It definitely deserves it! This is the new talent that should be paid attention to!

Difficult to write what makes this short film remarkable. The martial art scenes, no doubts. Like the traces of story , as a smart crafted drawing. The flash backs , in same measure . Not the last, the nice performances.

A man before a martial arts competition in dojo of his father. Five guys entering inn and remembering the bitter consequences of leave of Yakuza against the status of favorit of leader. So, the fights . The tensioned moment, when all seems lost, especially the life of Shane Lucas. And the turn of situation.

Not great, not remarkable, easy to define it as simplistic. But correct in high measure , some touching, some motivational. And it is enough, I suppose, not only for action films fans.

DOJO was an extraordinary experience from start to finish! You can feel the thrill of the music, cinematography, cool fighting moves and talented acting cast and what they were able to do with a limited environment and resources! I felt enjoyment of witnessing the unpredictability of the storyline and how it is open to multiple interpretations which could be a possible dream sequence, a vision, a projection based on one's confidence, or even maybe Alfonso Lucas secretly being Shane Lucas from the future guiding his past self what to do. This movie cures boredom and deserves multiple sequels! 😎🔥

DOJO is a Great Short Action Film that should be a full length Feature Film! Jon Paul has made the old school martial arts film current and exciting again. I appreciate the authentic technique and level of mastery. The beautiful cinematography and edits drive the story forward. It will be interesting to see the characters and story developed for a broader audience. In film, every element counts, the lighting, sound and camera angles all matter. It's also refreshing to see well trained martial artists as the characters. I highly recommend DOJO to a regular audience and especially to martial arts students who want to learn how it's really done!

Bravo!!!

This was a breathtaking action/drama/thriller short film that kept you motivated to the very end. It is a great story and excellent acting by Jon Paul who portrays Shane Lucas. The rest of the actors contributed their amazing skills to make this film a great work of art or better said a "Chef D'oeuvre" I highly recommend this film. Also the story and/or theme has a lot of life lessons to be learned. The martial arts were impressive from beginning to the end and kept you at the edge of your seat. The awards this film received were well deserved for the magnificent martial arts played by everyone.

DOJO (2024), is a bold independent martial arts movie project that is really making waves in the independent film industry.

This short film propels us into the world a traditional artist, played adeptly by Jon Paul, in 1985, as he prepares to do battle with, what appears to be, more than just competitive opponents in the martial arts arena. This conflict is the basis of the film.

As the story unfolds we learn that there is much more going on here than a dispute between neighboring martial arts studios. The film, in very efficient and effective ways, paints a picture of a back story that is far more complex and nefarious than meets the eye. I applaud the filmmakers, and the cast, in being able to provide such rich background and context in such a tight package.

The highlight of the film for martial arts and action fans is the fight choreography. The fight choreography is extremely well done. It is realistic. It is gritty and it is entertaining. Christofer Aguero, as the head of the oppressive Yakuza gang seeking retribution, is very compelling and menacing. These fight scenes rival any big budget martial arts film.

This is a low budget film; however, it does not have the trappings of other low budget films. The filmmaking here is top quality-from script to editing, and in between. This short film could easily be the foray into a full length feature based upon the same subject matter; one where we get filled in on the details of the backstory that we are only teased with in this truncated version.

The film has won more than 485 awards for filmmaking and content and these accolades are well deserved.

The film is highly engaging and well done.

We recommend it. The martial arts community, in particular, should support this passion project.
