It's hard to impress this (almost) 7 year old. We decided to give this a shot and we were hooked! With only 8 episodes, they wasted no time getting into the action. It kept a great pace, and it wasn't too fast where we couldn't follow or had to pause, back up, and play again. There were just a couple of plot holes here and there, but again, 8 short episodes are hard to condense so much story into. Netflix has really jumped into animation, I just hope when they pick up stories from book series or previous works, that they give it the proper time to work it well. We look forward for a season 2!!
"Prepare to be utterly swept away by Wolf King 2025! This isn't just a movie; it's a heart-pounding, visually stunning epic that will leave you breathless. The story, a raw and powerful tale of a wolf pack's struggle for survival, is brought to life with gorgeous animation that transcends anything you've seen before. Every whisker, every snow-covered peak, every piercing wolf gaze is rendered with astonishing detail, immersing you completely in their world. You won't just watch this film, you'll feel it - the raw power of the wilderness, the fierce loyalty of the pack, and the sheer, breathtaking beauty of their journey. Wolf King 2025 isn't just a film; it's a visceral experience that will leave you howling for more!"
The art is beautiful, and that beauty is what carried me through to the end of the season.
The plot, at a very high level has all the basics, and an interesting premise. But when going through the scenes, *all* of the main characters are unbelievably stupid. Worse, they're just sketches of characters. We don't get to actually know or really understand anyone. We don't even find out a key "were" aspect of one of them until the 2nd to last episode... and we don't find out why some that should have powers don't..
There are hints of intrigue that stop early and go nowhere, or mean absolutely nothing.
If the writing was an attempt to make it accessible to younger audiences... what we got was a jumble of half-starts and shallow excuses for random hand-to-hand fight scenes. I don't know if it was the writers or the producers that screwed this up; but I'm left with naught but disappointment and sadness for the animators.
My family won't be getting exposed to season 2, just in case the stupid is catching.

A really solid story and great animation offering from Netflix. I have not read the books and have no idea how the show compares, but it makes me curious to read them.
I see a few complaints about the animation style and the story development! I understand both complaints but I have to disagree... you can't always have every detail in a story. Though I would have like to have seen a little more relationship development between the lead character and his group of friends. The time period of the show seems as if it takes place over a couple of weeks but there is a couple statements that makes you think it is a much longer period. Those inconsistencies could have been avoided. But I don't need every detail of his origins.
I completely disagree with the complaints about animation. It was a choice and it works. The target audience is young people. Like early teens maybe... so the animation style is almost nostalgic for children's books and shows, yet of a quality lending itself to quality art.
Bottom line is, it's worth the watch whether you are 12 or 52!

To start Netflix has shown us that they are perfectly capable of making entertaining, and high-quality kids television shows. I stumbled across Wolf King because every now and then I do like to check the coming to Netflix page. After watching a trailer I began to feel excited. Similar to the cadets show of 2023 It's always the under advertise shows that Netflix produces that are always the best.
I decided to start episode one as something to put on in the background. I was quickly drawn in by the very colorful, storytelling and beautiful animation. The story also adds to the wow factor of the show we've seen fantasy over and over again But I think that the wolf king does it right, especially for the main audience. It is supposed to be targeting, which is children. Parents can trust this show not to throw anything in their child's face that they wouldn't otherwise want their children, seeing unlike the dragon prince which was a phenomenal show, regardless of intended audience.
Needless to say, I ended up finishing The show completely in one sitting, and I would recommend this show for both audiences and adult audiences.
