It could be better if it was not dubbed but subtitled would add that french cultural flavor. Lots of passive aggressive bi polar characters. I didnt find it funny just odd.

Lazyness and self-indulgence are the key elements to french audiovisual productions.

They benefit from the bias of those who think of themselves as among the elite who understand what it really is about, as in contemporary art.

I am Fench, and this is among the usual crap produced by the Astier family, cherished by most of those who express themselves on french social media... Until Alexandre Astier made a movie out of his crapstacular "Kaamelot", and almost no one could deny the abysmal reality anymore.

This series is based on the unnumerous american Z pictures from the 80s, and includes some unfunny private jokes to famous blockbusters of the same era like Predator.

Unlike Full moon productions or others, It does not even benefit from the short length of most low budget movies from the 50s to the 90s. It is unrelenting emptiness and boredom.

Not as advertised. Has nothing to do with extraterrestrials. It's a wannabe Edgar Wright la Hot Fuzz but totally unfunny and boring and dull. Really disappointed in HBO Max for presenting this. Makes Netflix start to look better all the time. At least they try to curate entertainment. This is just pathetic filler.

I don't understand all these bad reviews. It must have something to do with not liking the French language, or not understanding the humor. If you've watched it dubbed in English, it is probably not good either.

I thought it was a great show. Low budge, with short episodes of aprox 24 minutes. So, easy to sit trough. I was so pleasantly surprised. I watched the entire show in one night! It is fun. It is light. It is truely a feel good scifi show. It's not an outstanding show, hence the 7, but the humor and the feels were great!

French humor is always a bit weird. French movies are always a bit weird (mostly). Thats what so great about them. If you understand that, you'll like the show.

In the beginning, the series seems to have a fairly original theme, but over time, after about two episodes, you realize that it is a story that has already been seen in many series and movies with some minor aesthetic changes. Throughout the series, they visibly "try" to emphasize interpersonal relationships, but in that part it's a total failure, it's all very poorly acted, kind of stiff, all the characters are equally uninteresting, here it's so poorly acted that it's terrible, the actors simply didn't enjoy themselves that whole science fiction story. I regret the case, this is a below average TV series!

I dont care if its because I am not a french speaker or not. This show is terrible. While watching I could not figure out if this was a serious show or not the "writing," or the translated script, is just awful. The ADR voice actors are unusually stiff and flat on delivery, and the choice of words at time is awkward. Is this really supposed to be a comedy? It does not present that way, but even if it is, it's done very poorly to the point of being unwatchable. I could not make it past the 3rd episode and only that far because I wanted to try and figure out what the hell I was watching.

To all non French viewers, this series will be difficult to understand and enjoy for you!!

This is a low budget comedy, leaning heavily on parody and absurd/cringy comedy. Half of the scenes won't make sense to you and are pointless, they're just there for comedy purpose.

Astier made another show (Hero corp) and this has the same kind of humor.

There's also tons of references and most of the actors are from the standup/comedy circle, and you probably have never heard of them.

I barely managed one episode of Visitors before I could endure no more.

I get what its trying to do, its a comedic parody, of cheesy sci fi series. The problem is, I found it profoundly unfunny. Its not as if something is lost in translation either. Jokes, for example, about "snot" are childish and not amusing to adults.

Sadly, this over the top nonsense doesn't get better as it goes along. It simply stumbles from one bad joke to another.

I can't recommend this on any level. I generally like French series but this ones a stinker, there's no pretending otherwise.

This series is difficult to watch as it doesn't really do anything well. First of all, you should know this movie is in French. There is dubbed English audio and although the actors dubbing the English weren't awful, the sounds they made when they they weren't speaking felt forced/weird at times. However, the dubbing was probably the best thing they did in this series.

To make it easy for some to understand I'll break it down my rating like this...

English dubbing: 7/10 Plot: 2/10 Dialog: 2/10 Sci-Fi: 3/10 Special Effects: 3/10 Comedy: 4/10 Drama: 2/10 Thriller: 3/10 Romance: 2/10

That said, this movie is so quirky and bad, some might find it enjoyable. Think along the lines of the 1984 movie "Repo Man" with Emilio Estevez, only stretching out the movie to be 3-1/2 hours long and cut into 8 episodes.

If you do not like french humor, do not waste you time on it. The french think that comedy is acting a bit odd"(like looking around suprised like: huh" and create some illogical situations. The french beat the germans in at least one thing and that is in having absolutely no idea of what humor is. But hey, maybe you're into that kind of "humor", then probably you will enjoy it.

This whole series is full of moments where you think "I guess it is supposed to be funny but where is the funny thing. Then it seems to be more serious again but you're never sure: "was this supposed to be serious or funny".

Definitely had Cornetto trilogy vibes from the get go. Honestly laughed out loud several times and really enjoyed the story. Watched on subtitles so that I wouldnt have to deal with a dubbed version, as the original language is always the way to go. With that being said can't wait to see if we get a season 2.

The humor is great. Sure, its not your typical alien show, but the humor keeps me in. I hope there us a second season. The acting is better than the ratings suggest. Good job!

I went in knowing it was French and with no expectations. I love it. I loved the take on the French version of an invasion. Plus watching dubbed in English and watching the subtitles almost tell two different versions. It's not no 30 coins but it's not meant to be. I think that was in Spain. 10 stars if you get a chance to watch. But I thought this show would be great with a season 2.

Really enjoyed it ! A great mix of comedy, sci fi and drama ! And a tribute to a lot of movies and tv series. I would recommend it.

Hope for a season 2 !

I thought it was captivating yet funny and an excellent storyline. Really, really good. I hope for another season.

I was a bit nervous at first that the flow of the show would not make sense to me, being I am an American viewer. However that was not the case at all. It was well done and kept me wanting for more the whole time. Yes there were some scenes that were "necessary to the storyline" but those scenes are what made the show great.

The back stories and different story telling methods used were excellent. The graphics and CGI were good too. You could maybe tell a little that it was low budget, and that really made the show all that better.

Please have another season!

Great series. Anyone know the song in season 1 episode 7 about 8:30 seconds in? Beyond that a great show that is very out there but the subtitles and acknowledgment of being different gives it an embracing feeling and is like a grown up/foreign stranger things.

After a couple of episodes installing the plot with a weird relationship between some characters than can feel awkward, this first season really grows into something quite epic, very funny, well directed. There are lots of references but they're well digested and displayed in something quite cohesive in the end. As if all the X-Files were as quirky as the quirkiest episodes (there are a few examples of almost entirely goofy episodes). That's the vibe, here.

The actors really do well. I might be biased but I really to defend that kid of productions when they're produced out of Hollywood with the habitual we're used to see (of course there are tropes here, but it's different and worth the patience).

I can't believe I almost didn't watch this due to it being a foreign language, but I had it dubbed in English and the dog wasn't bad. I didn't find it very humorous, but the sci-fi was storyline incredibly refreshing as a little information on "the Visitors "possible with small clues where the viewer itself had to kind of guess the way through what was actually going on, which was exciting! Definitely when it comes down to the alien visitors invaders, kind of narrative where you normally find out all about this invading race and what the Rafter he was nothing just small little bit throughout and I loved it. Can you make up a season two as soon as possible, please. ! As an English reader, definitely no comedy in it but if you like a good sci-fi, it's a definite 10 out of 10 watch.
