The 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival has selected actor Lee Byung-hun as the featured guest for this year’s Actor in Focus, titled The Master: Lee Byung-Hun.

A true master of his craft, Lee has demonstrated exceptional range across genres both on screen and off, earning recognition as a global artist and one of Korea’s most iconic actors—hence the title The Master: Lee Byung-hun for this year’s Actor in Focus.
This year’s Actor in Focus will present ten films spanning Lee Byung-hun’s remarkable 30-year acting career: Joint Security Area (2000), Bungee Jumping of Their Own (2001), A Bittersweet Life (2005), Once in a Summer (2006), I Saw the Devil (2010), Masquerade (2012), Inside Men (2015), The Fortress (2017), The Man Standing Next (2019), and Concrete Utopia (2023).

Composer Jung Jaeil needed a translator for his session of Sound & Screen Television but he knew exactly what to say in English when he was asked for teasers about the third and final season of Squid Game.
“I’m not allowed,” he declared.
But Jung did admit he “poured my heart and soul into the score for Season 3” to help realize the vision of director Hwang Dong-hyuk. In fact, it was his respect for Hwang’s work on the Korean series The Fortress that first persuaded him to create the music for the hit Netflix show.

Netflix is ready to horrify you with another season of its survival thriller series, Squid Game. Emmy-winning actor Lee Jung-jae is returning as Seong Gi-hun in the second season. The climax of the first season showed Player 456 deciding to go back to the bloody games, determined to go after whoever runs the games.

Copenhagen-based TrustNordisk has picked up international rights on “My Brother,” a four-part mystery thriller produced by Banijay Group’s Swedish banner Filmlance International, credited for the crime hits “The Bridge”, “Fallen”, and family epic “Ronja the Robber’s Daughter.” Filming on the Svt series is due to begin in February 2025 in Norrbotten, Sweden’s northernmost county, with a delivery date set for the winter 2025.
Billed as a northern Western, “My Brother” is based on bestselling author Karin Smirnoff’s debut novel, part of the Jana Kippo book trilogy sold to several countries including the U.K., Italy and Germany. Smirnoff has also authored the new Millennium novel “The Cry of the Sea Eagle.”

Finland’s Fireframe Studios has boarded upcoming Arctic thriller “The Ice.”
Developed in collaboration with Nordisk Film Production, it’s based on the successful novel by Norwegian writer John Kåre Raake, also behind movies “The Wave” and “The Quake,” and series “The Fortress.”
Filming is scheduled for next year.
The story plays out at one of Earth’s most inhospitable places, the North Pole, with the team teasing “The Ice” as a “highlight for thrill-seeking audience, combining high concept with tense political conflicts.” As well as “ice-cold thrills and warm human drama.”
