In Canada, the title of each of the four movies in this series is the lead character's given name (in order): "Nicole"; "Sydney"; "Lauren"; and "Tara".
With the exception of the inn and the spa in Nicole's story, the cities in which the stories take place, such where the college is located or where the four woman live, are never mentioned. The interscenes used, even within an individual story, are of many different cities, and thus are meant to be somewhat nondescript.
Each of the four movies opens with scenes from the New Years Eve party where the four club members met. The first half of each opening is from the perspective of the primary character, leading to the exact same latter half of the four women officially meeting on the front porch, each talking about their present heartache, and they forming the love club, concluding with the selfie taken by Tara of the four of them.
