Just in time for the holiday season, the enchanting holiday tale THE SWAN PRINCESS CHRISTMAS leaps onto DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Nest Entertainment. Using CG-animation for the first time, this fun-for-the-whole-family film features new music by Anna Graceman (TVÂ’s "American's Got Talent").

The all-new festive musical follows the return of Princess Odette, Prince Derek, and their trusted woodland friends as they celebrate their first Christmas together, and face the villainous and evil sorcerer, Rothbart.

The DVD also comes with the Â“Season of LoveÂ” music video by Anna Graceman, as well as a look at the making of the song and music video.

This sucks big time

The cgi animation is so pitiful it is painful to watch and Odette's eyes come off as really creepy. The songs are OK but don't mesh well with the medieval setting since they are more hip hop and R&B styled. It was barely tolerable as background noise but if I tried to watch it I quickly wanted to go do something else. I really can't find anything to recommend about it other than to skip it.

I watched it on The Movie Network in Canada for free which was the only reason I tortured myself with this dreck. For a 2012 movie, the animation was like a really bad video game from several years ago. I doubt even small children would enjoy this pitiful money grab.

It was originally rated PG for "some scary moments", but the filmmakers trimmed it down to a PG-rating, this time for "mild perilous action", so that it wouldn't be frightening to children as it did to director Richard Rich's "The Black Cauldron" in 1985.

This film shows Odette and Derek celebrating their first Christmas together, whereas in Die Schwanenprinzessin und das Geheimnis des Schlosses (1997), they have been married for one year, so one Christmas must have gone by between the first two films.
