The lead characters are very unlikeable at the beginning. Ryan is horribly rude at the flower shop and then doubles down by embarrassing Brooke at her presentation. He lies back on her couch with his shoes on it while they talk through the coming test run. She is the cliche of a PhD who believes that science trumps feelings and that love can be measured with biometric devices.
And then like most of the other movies in this genre, they instantly drop all the animosity and warm up to each other and completely forget the horrible start. Even the acting, which starts out as poor, gets better and the two seem almost natural. Some of the supporting cast, like Brooke's boss, are poor throughout.
Predictably, the audience knows where this is going. The conflict or bump in the road was pretty tame. Along the way there were plenty of the usual tropes. Some of the dialogue was a little catchy.
Despite some rough spots, I found myself enjoying the movie once it got past the ridiculously overplayed animosity. (The personalities displayed there were not true to the real characters.)

7.8 stars.
I know why people didn't like it - the lead male is a tool. He's a tool and not the most attractive lead male. He starts off really sarcastic and rude, and it's very unbecoming and so I was put off immediately. The lead female is adorable and it's fun to see her act as a love scientist. She tests her students and some friends with her health meters, wrist watches that they wear that take readings of heart rate and other various factors to see if they are in love. Each partner wears one while on several dates with the other partner and then she tabulates the information to see if they are a perfect match. She must then use her own system on herself, because that's what the people want.
I really enjoyed 'The Attraction Test' as time went on. The first several minutes were painful, but as I got to know the lead male a bit better, he's not so bad. Yes, he still has some attributes that rub you the wrong way, and like I said, I think the ladies in the audience didn't like him so much - thus the lack of votes and the negative votes. The dialogue is excellent, the actors are great, this is a smooth production from top to bottom, but maybe a different guy next time. But he's alright. I really like her though, so it's a thumbs up.

A wasted effort.
Technically is competent, but full of tropes and cliches, the leads (the characters, not the actors), unlikeable, with the male character rude, condescending, immature, idiotic, with the actual and emotional intelligence of a houseplant and the female character a caricature of the cold, technical, professional, unlovable career oriented woman.
It's pity, because the basic idea is good for a romantic film.
The script though, is either lacking, needed several rewrites, or incomplete.
There's nothing endearing or romantic in this.
Better than watching wet paint dry, but not by much.
The only redeeming quality is the performances.

Sentimental and had me in some tears - first part amusing and reflective in exploring dates, a little predictable but still a nice film, where love has the ultimate kiss. Love is real and so if falling in love. Amusing story which came together in boy meets girl on ultimate roller coaster. Well-acted and good dates that were creative. While all of us may look for love, the presenter found it in her emotions with a predictive watch app. Story fitted together well and gripped audience. If you are searching for the magic of love, you can certainly go away with this dream. Do have a look inside and take the next st...
Honestly, we all know these types of movie are produced conveyor belt fashion. They aren't usually going to surprise with twists or deep insights, and we don't mind that. It's the execution that matters - is the writing good, are the characters well rounded, and so on.
As such, in reviewing such a film, it's probably not necessary to get into the plot, which, sure, is a bit contrived, but charming enough in its premise.
But what impressed me was the genuinely decent performances and chemistry between the leads. It felt believable, was endearing, and was solid enough to carry though the plot and get you invested in the characters. That alone makes it stand out and be worth the time compared to many others of this genre.

- WissenswertesBrooke talks about a weird, annoying kid named "Ken Friss" who went to her high school. Ken Friss is the director of this movie.
- PatzerAt approximately 34 minutes into the movie, when Brooke and Ryan go bowling, and after Ryan gives Brooke a quick lesson on proper bowling technique, Brooke then rolls a strike. In their excitement, Ryan picks Brooke up and twirls her round in a circle. When the camera pans down the lane where Brooke just knocked down all the pins and the pinsetter should be going through its cycle, you can see the pins are already set in an upright position.
