Save the secret circle because its amazing :)

The Secret Circle is an amazing television show and myself and many people enjoy it ! Worst thing is it has been canceled and so much was opened up on the finale of season 1 which will now never be complete :( not to mention the books were only a slight guide so they wont answer the questions of what happens either. SIGN THIS PETITION TO RENEW TSC FOR A SEASON 2 :) The petition can be found on change.org, just search the secret circle in the search bar and it is the first petition to appear. Don't let this amazing show that actually has a great plot and great characters go to waste leaving behind shows which actually have not good content. The secret circle is one of a kind, so save it !

THIS needed to be renewed.

It had everything to be part of the Vampire Diaries mythology/franchise. And the season/series finale left me completely hooked. Just like Melrose Place reboot, and Ringer, it needed time to improve. And showed it could in a big way, at the very last minute. I'm sure if the show aired a year later, it would've lasted at least three or four more seasons. Considering how awful ratings standards got afterwards, it's not such a stretch to imagine that. It's crazy how the 2009-2012 era of the CW network, is filled with rushed decisions or good projects nipped in the bud. To think they've decided to renew Hart of Dixie over this, is beyond me. And now we have bad PC reboots shoved down our throats. I'm not even hoping for a revival, because it's just too late for that...

BRING IT BACK

I'm still waiting for the 2 season, i mean come one you can't live it at that it was so exiting at the and and I was so disappointed when it got canceled! It truly was one of the greatest witch shows I've ever watched it's up there with charmed, Buffy the vampire slayer and the originals.

You have to bring it back especially with Britt Robertson, Phoebe Tonkin and Shelley Henning.

But just make it so I can get some answers about the season finale :( <3

Doesn't deserve full 8

I'll just put this in pros and cons since there's no really point writing 1000 words review for the show that barely started.

+ 1. Plot seems interesting 2. Chicks are hot 3. I love places of shooting (whole town really) 4. I love dark breeze of it 5. Acting is quite a good but it could be improved 6. Solid character development - 1. Lines are sometimes cheesy and really stupid 2. Sometimes nothing makes sense at all 3. Special effects seems really bad made 4. Whole concept of witchcraft is messed up and pretty much old story

Show has potential but it really needs to work up if it wants to achieve anything. They need to create something new, to write better lines, to actually create better chemistry between characters, to remove stupid 10s looks and a lots of other small things. So far the show is good; the rating does justice to it. Solid 7.5/6 show that has potential to rise to 8 if played well.

A bright series cruelly cancelled...

The Secret Circle is one of those series where you find good acting, beautiful people, interesting script and plot with intelligent and bright situations packed nicely in one shiny box.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, lived with it in its short-term season 1 and highly recommend it to every viewer interested in witchcraft performed by young and talented people with an interesting story in the background.

Unfortunately, as it usually happens, the sword of Damocles fell on this promising series, cutting its life short and hindering it from developing its full potential in the span of several seasons.

Why not?

Is it bad? No. Is it obsession worthy? No. Do i want to want another season? Yes please. If you like supernatural/fantasy give it a go. The script/characters lacked depth for me which is why this is a 7 but still an enjoyable watch.

Too good to have been cancelled.

Why did they have to cancel this show. I cannot honestly believe it had anything to do with low ratings as it is just too good. There are plenty of other CW shows that couldn't hold a candle to this one but they gave them a second season order. I am completely unimpressed that another great show will be finished up on a cliffhanger.

It's kind of like The Craft but with a few subtle differences. Overall though I am glad that I have finally watched this show. There are no typical vampires and werewolves in this one like many other shows and movies at the moment. It focuses on a new supernatural being. They have also setup the storyline really well so there are plenty of directions they can take and it keeps you guessing. Unfortunately I guess we will never really get to see how good it could have been.

Great start, but drags on

I liked this series when it started airing this fall, the story was good, and the actors did a good job. But as the show went on it got boring and just over complicated. I watched the first half of the series when it was airing on TV, but after the short winter break, I really had to put myself to watching it again, and after a few weeks I stopped watching it entirely. Still I wanted to find out how it was going to end and I put myself to watching the last ten episodes or so in more or less one sitting. The problems started rising just before the short winter break, when it began it was a show about witches, but like True Blood they made the mistake of throwing more mythical beings in the mix. And it somehow felt like they forgot certain plot lines, for a few episodes and then picking them back up later, making the continuity feel weird. So all things considered it was good at the start, but it lost momentum later on.

Pretty good and has potential

The show started off quite simple and the story line was obviously just getting started, but after the first few episodes it's developed and now i can see that the show is going to get a lot better in time. I haven't read the books, but i know some things have changed (kind of like they did with The Vampire Diaries, making elena's character the opposite of who she is, bringing in new- non-existent character's and getting rid of some and changing loads of aspects of the story), but i can't help thinking they do this to make it more TV friendly. They do it to stretch it out and make it last longer, put their own twists and spins, making you're more eager to see the next episode to see if what you know should happen, does. I can say that The Secret Circle is a good show, it needs work, some of the actors aren't that great and are obviously just starting out. The thing that drew me to TSC was Phoebe Tonkins, the Australian actor from H2O: Just add water, and she is a brilliant part of the show. I love her character, she's full of surprises and she's a brilliant actor too. Cassie also shines a light on the show as well, i had seen her in 'life unexpected' and thought she was great in that. But anyway, the story line is developing so their's no point in shunning it until it's a good way into the series, and i just overall think it's pretty good.

What secret? Everybody knows!

So this was an okay show. It had some good moments. It also had a lot of dumb moments. It's described as a drama, fantasy and horror, and I agree with that.

Let's start with 'fantasy', that's the most obvious one. They're witches, there are also some demons and all the 'normal' kids have fun at school dances. So 'fantasy' checks out.

There is also a lot of horror. But that doesn't really come from the expected part. Yes, there are some deaths, there are special effects on the demon posessed people, which a child may find scary and there is some mediocre CGI that allmost works because the cast knows how to scream and cry and look distraught. The scariest horror thought comes mostly from the close up shots of wannabe teens awkwardly kissing.

Then the drama. At first the show seemed to present itself more like a mystery. And don't get me wrong, on some parts it handled mystery pretty well. But on some other parts they showed the audience things that would have had way more impact had we found out together with the protagonists.

So try this drinking game.

Every time a character is about to give some very useful information, but they get interrrupted or the other character 'has to be somewhere', is not listening because he/she has something else to say, or 'just can't handle all this right now', take a shot. You will quickly discover where 'drama' wins it from 'mystery' in this show.

Anyway, it's not really good, but I did like it.

It kept me interested until the ending and the conclusion was solid as well (except for the little teasers for the following season that never came).

I never want to see this show again, but it was entertaining enough to watch once.

Interest turn complicated turn convoluted

Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson) has just returned to Chance Harbor after the murder of her mother to stay with her grandmother. She had tried to shield Cassie from her town. Little did she know that she was the last missing piece to form a coven. Adam Conant (Thomas Dekker), Faye Chamberlain (Phoebe Tonkin), Diana Meade (Shelley Hennig), Melissa Glaser (Jessica Parker Kennedy), and Charles Meade (Gale Harold) form the rest of the group.

It's a great premise, and had all the potential in the world. The second episode was especially great. Then it weakened as more and more convoluted ideas get added in. Instead of setting it up and letting it run, they couldn't let it settle and kept adding more story lines.

Please bring this show back

The fact that this excellent show got cancelled after only 1 season is an absolute crime in television. There was so much potential and the show ended on a major cliffhanger. I just don't understand why the CW network does not care about the fans of their tv shows. I hope that one day this show will come back. It would be great if the original cast came back but I would still watch if they recast.

A Midly-Interesting Teenage Witch Soap Drama

I think most people know what they are signing up for when they read the description of this show, but those male viewers out there should know this isn't half bad. It's what you would come to expect from a teenage drama, with plenty of soapy romance, who's sleeping with who, and of course an emo guy who probably wears eyeliner (Adam). But if you can get over the soapiness, you just might find this isn't half bad.

The show focuses on the classic teenage drama one might come to expect from any show based on sorcery. Think Twilight drama, minus the sadomasochism. We follow the life of Cassy, a young 16-year- old, who moves back in with her grandmother because her mom dies. She soon learns she is a witch, and we follow her her journey of self- discovery.

Luckily for Cassy, she finds 5 of her schoolmates, somehow in the same school, are ALSO witches, and so begins the monotonous drama of every episode: Cassy goes to school, discusses witchcraft with said fellow witches, ditches school because she and her friends are too "cool for school", engages in some risky activity, usually involving demon-chasing, and talks about the drama with said witches. Early antics focus on the "team effort" of these witches who somehow found themselves together in Chance Harbor, as they bind themselves and their magic together.

If you are confused by the use of the term "witch" for male characters, you would be right. Probably for feminist reasons, the writers decided to call "wizards" witches.

Obviously, the star of the show here is Britt Robertson, who does a great job. While the writing is bland, the actors do a tremendous job of opening us up to their characters. Near the end of the season, you start to really see Britt's character and ask yourself how she can be so stupid, but therein lies the ingenuity. Most characters seem to display a limited amount of depth, but probably just enough to keep you interested.

The sound is just average. I watched in a surround configuration and found the rear speakers to be mostly unutilized.

The show feels drawn out, and very slow-paced. Not much happens in the first couple episodes, and it felt like the writers were short on ideas at times. With the amount of secret-keeping in witches' families, I found myself wondering how these parents and their kids could keep so many secrets and not find out more. You know the writers are short on ideas when they only hold their scenes in 1 of 5 places: the school, the diner, the abandoned house, and the forest. Probably a budgeting thing, but I would have liked more creativity here.

Overall, if you can get over the soapiness and the slow pace, you might find you enjoy this season 1. I think male viewers like myself will find it hard to watch the whole thing due to its slow pace, but for those who can tolerate it, The Secret Circle makes for some entertaining late-night TV.

SO GOOD!!!

This show was amazing the plot and storylines kept you wrapped up in them always wanting to know what happened next. It had me hooked the whole time! There was plot twist I did not see coming and the actors did so well in this film. Maybe one or two sub par actors but the rest clearly made up for it! If you like supernatural stuff, witches, magic, and drama. This show is 100% for you. The worst part is a show that had so much potential and chance of being a hit never got past its first season which is just cruel. I'm not one for remakes but they need to look into doing something with this show because it was so so so good.

Not specially good, but maybe it's getting better?

I thought this was going to be a good show, especially after reading the plot summary and hearing all nice things people say about it. But i simply don't get it.. sorry. After the pilot I was quite disappointed, The plot summary did not match the show as it was suppose to, and neither did the reviews. The actors wasn't that good, I liked Britt Robertson (Cassie) in Life unexpected (Wonderful show!) but in Secret Circle she didn't feel convincing at all, and neither did the other actors. Faye take the price as the most annoying girl i the show. I saw the first 8 episodes and maybe in the end I kind of liked it a little bit, it got a bit more interesting and mysterious, but it is not specially convincing that you have to go through 8 episodes to start to like it. So, I am not that convinced, but I am going to keep watching and hopefully I start to see what everybody else sees. But until then, I'm not that convinced.

Minor entertainment value

I haven't read the books and was searching deliberately for some light teenie supernatural series.

Even with my low expectations, this series falls short. It's boring and clichéd. Cliché can be done well, but this isn't it.

Rarely do the cookie cutter Hollywood-pretty characters stand out or feel real.

The plot is your standard "orphaned teenie moves into town, discovers superpowers, needs to unravel mysteries with a group of other supernatural teenies" variety. The group is flavourless (except for Faye, the only one with a more 3D personality), the love triangle makes me yawn and the mysteries deliver only half of the time.

The adults are more interesting than the kids.

Well... stick to Gossip Girl or Vampire Diaries if you really need some teenie fluff series, or look up some lists on IMDb if you want something better fleshed out.
