Molossia is an actual micronation and minor tourist attraction. Kevin Baugh allowed the 20 person crew to film in his home.
Expanding on his character's worship of the Nostalgia Critic, Mathew Buck had the idea for Film Brain's costume to be based off of the Critic's usual black jacket and white shirt.
According to Brad Jones and Phelan Porteous in their commentary, many of the continuity errors in the film were done intentionally to establish the lack of seriousness and annoy nitpickers.
The biggest fight that Doug Walker and Rob Walker had over the film was the scene of Film Brain (Mathew Buck) capturing The Cinema Snob (Brad Jones) for the trial. Rob had felt that music should have been played over the scene (he told Matthew Buck to make the weird sounds for this reason). On the other hand, Doug felt that the music was playing in Film Brain's head and didn't feel that music was necessary. Doug and Rob didn't talk to each other for a week because of this.
Many injuries were sustained over the course of production. Notably, Jason Pullara twisted both ankles, Brad Jones sliced his finger open on the metal insignia on the Nostalgia Critic's hat and cinematographer and camera operator Rob Walker gashed his knee on a rock while filming the charge in Part 2.
