It's weird that this seems to be a story in recent times, lets say between 2010 and 2014, which would be the period when the couple missed out on their love, because of her authoritarian, controlling and manipulative parents.

I would have assumed that that was a reality in the 1950s and 1960s, but surely American parents aren't this terrible in this century...?

We have seen this so many times in movies and media but this story is getting old and boring and definitely irrelevant today.

And I think that the lead actors, although both very beautiful/handsome, unfortunately act rather unemotionally and deadpan - I don't know why this is the case, but I blame the director more than the actors.

I'ts a cute romance movie. Typical in most respects. I was disappointed that the wedding ring prop was used in the wrong scene however, makes me not understand why it was even there. I also don't understand why Julian Shaw got tenth billing, he practically carries the movie along with his love interest.

The main reason I'm leaving a review is because of this Johnny-come-lately actor Julian Shaw. He definitely has charisma, he's young, viral, attractive and his personality plays well on-screen. I believe that this actor has that something special worth looking at. Keep your eye out for him in future endeavors. If he can get to the place in his career where he can choose his roles, I'd advise him to choose wisely. Don't become another ditsy sexy guy on camera taking everything you can get. Once you've established yourself, get picky. Choose the image you want the world to perceive of you.

Find a few classic actors, study how they managed their careers and their public lives and emulate that. Surpass them.

I liked the movie. I'm a sucker for rom-com's to whittle some evenings away. This one has enough unique elements to make it interesting. The musical aspect was light and a nice touch. It also played into the radio background theme. I dug that smiling ukulele! 🙂 A pleasant movie.

Jenny is a hairdresser and owns her business. She is recently divorced and has a young son of maybe 8 or 9. While her ex-husband is a nice guy it seems she never really loved him, she probably married him because her opinionated mother urged her to.

Liam is a radio DJ who plays mostly older music and he goes by the radio name "Dr. Love." Jenny is a fan, she listens to his program regularly but has no idea what his real identity is, and frankly doesn't care. Her son thinks he is an old fat man broadcasting from a basement somewhere.

Then one day on a whim, during a book promotional Jenny calls the station and wins, as the 7th caller. She goes to the station and there she meets Dr. Love, only to find out she knows him. She and he met in college then became sweethearts but their romance was interrupted when Liam joined the Marines. He vowed to return to her but she never heard from him again. The "why" is an important part of the whole story.

The story gets more complicated from that point, in many ways. It is not a Hallmark movie but follows the template, there is no bad language or sex, after they start to get close some big relationship wedge interferes, they have to find a way to overcome it.

This movie contains pretty much all the tropes we have seen in many similar movies, there really isn't anything new but the actors are pleasant and attractive and that makes for a pleasant viewing.

Shot mostly in and around Stillwater and Oklahoma City. The rating is skewed a bit on the high side because almost 30% of the ratings are "10" and this definitely is not a "10" movie, compared to all the others. The median rating is "6" and that is just about right for this movie. Pleasant but not outstanding.
