I really pushed myself to finish this film as I am a huge supporter of indie film productions. The entirety of the film was dragging and the acting/casting was decent enough. Costume design was kind of off but I didn't really expect much from that department. Story was okay, not stellar but not bad at all. From a cinematography standpoint: the lighting was not impressive (I understand; indie studios are on a budget as always) but that's to be expected. Furthermore, The girl's boyfriend's story somehow lacked in depth though. I wish that there was something more to what he was portraying. Overall, great job and well done with this work. I'd like to see more from this studio.

This is a mix of US movies.
Ex SAS with PTSD, has nothing to live for, until his daughter overdoses smoking heroin.
Then, he has a reason to get up and do what he's trained to do.
After all, these hardened warriors feel more comfortable with a gun, and somebody to shoot at.
This is just a derivative of John Wick and a few other movies.
Get the team back together.
Take care of business.
Get hardware!
Use saud hardware to go to town... in the UK.
Taken was the other movie, but 1 man took on a gang, empty handed!
I do prefer "getting the team back together!" It makes half decent viewing, but it feels so derived! It feels like we've already seen this exact movie, countless times!
So don't get too excited at the idea of this movie. Because it's somebody else's! It's just a mish-mash of John Wick and Taken. Only with a team of 4.
Small, unimpressive "twist" at the end to make it slightly different?
No... it's the same. John Wick is full of bullets in all of those movies.
Sorry. British rip off of American movies.
And I hate to break the 4th wall, but this is England! If a bunch of people had been executed, shot in the head! It'd be front page news. There'd be police everywhere.
Especially if there had been a Paslode first fix nail gun incident, that would also be front page news.
But, suspension of blah blah blah...
Whatever.
Watch it, you'll probably think the same thing.

Well at least the biased reviews by ex soldiers and those involved with this film, didn't manage to change the general public's opinion.. it was absolutely dire and 4.3 out of 10 is still overgenerous for the appalling acting, schoolboy level scriptwriting, amateur directing and shaky camerawork.
What potentially good films didn't get green light funded because this one did? Guess we'll never know..
What it does show is the real and desperate need for veterans mental healthcare, who are discharged onto our streets as walking disasters waiting to happen. Many like those shown here (and even in the reviews) cannot tell the difference between lawful and unlawful behaviour..

This clumsy, ugly little project reeks of amateur, low budget cringe. Replete with flash backs to the band of boys back when they were in the military on a fateful "Op".
So many plot holes that they doesn't bare mention. At one point, the protagonist is hiding out in a field, living out of his truck but the "bad guys" still find him somehow? How? They'd got his location from an ex-wife?! So, he described where he was to his ex-wife ?! How? " I'm living just past the old oak tree, near the pile of old tires? Why would he have told her anyway?
Its just so childish and awful!
The director thought it would lend the film gravitas if there was a didactic message: As he discusses life with an other aging gangster (the antagonist) the concept is teased out that " War changes men, whether as a criminal fighting or the military.
Give this stinker a miss! 1/10 stars.

If you like a bit of action, mixed with a lot of confusion and a tight little twist tied in a little bow this movie is for you. I don't like generic action movies. I felt like this would be something made for TV or made for VHS rental before I saw it. I was dead wrong. I couldn't sleep and wanted to watch something different. This was scratching an itch I didn't know I had. I was not expecting it to flow as well as it did. I don't know any of these actors and I don't care. They played their roles well and they delivered on an excellent written movie. The twist in this, which I was not expecting it to have at all, was one of the best I've seen. Never saw it coming.

The film is really not bad at all! I went into expecting to want to turn off after reading some of the reviews! Ridiculous. What these guys have done is nothing short of fantastic. Its a debut feature, with a solid story and believable characters with fun and organic action. Yes things could be better. But I have watched multimillion pound films that lack even the most basic of intrigued... these industry giants chuck everything at these films with no integrity and truth and yet the Sunray team have had to fight against all the nepotisms, exclusivity and exteme cost to produce something they so rightly should be proud of. Sunray is definitely worth a watch. Excited for the future!

Considering as one reviewer has written this was filmed on a shoe string, through public funding via Kickstarter and none of of the guys involved really had experience in writing, directing or editing (to my knowledge), it's still a great small budget movie... Jesus if you want bad acting and inaccurate details, watch Dirty Angels and that had a far, far bigger budget..!
Honestly a great film, enjoyed the story, the characters and the mental health and PTSD sub-story which tied up the Fallen Soldier angle so well.
Considering these lads are Bootnecks and not Hollywood A listers with million $ budgets, I think they did a bang up job with what they had, and to think this TV Series come Film nearly never happened, I believe this is a true grit and adversity film on all fronts.
Showed British Soldiering well and told a story which is undoubtedly spoken, or should be spoken, by soldiers from all walks of life who have been through battle and come home lost...
Hoofin' geezers, well done.!

CC1. This is an absolute must watch. Slick as you'd expect from former Royal Marines. Dark, sinister, powerful and thought provoking. Exciting and reflective. The struggles with PTSD, the lack of understanding someone's standards in civi street. The loneliness some lads may feel. Not many movies can have you in the edge of your seat with a lump in one's throat at the same time.
Chad tashes, slick drills, and Bootneck humour. Some belting one liners. Some will quiz the meaning of a "bag off" and "browners". Good, go and find out what they mean. It's an awesome movie, it's not Hollywood but it doesn't pretend to be. It's gritty, sinister, and at times has a ruthless reality to it. Go and see it or get it on Amazon TV. Worth every penny. Thanks Tip Cullen and the team. PMPT.

Went into this film expecting a degree of low budget film-isms, and finished it very impressed with how the film as a whole turned out. Great cinematography, very authentic feeling military persons interactions (unlike most high budget films), well portrayed characters (as far as I'm aware some of the actors are quite fresh in the acting world), and a very strong sound track, all put together, directed and edited very well.
The film does lack a little in some of the effects departments (due to what I assume is a very small budget), but makes up for it with the camera work.
In the end the story was great and enjoyably unpredictable.

Plot summary - father let's drug dealer boyfriend live after his daughter dies due to dealer's drug dealing. Drug dealer boyfriend then easily kills hardened professionals who wiped out every experienced criminal and professional military team sent after them.
Bad guys win. Good guys get wiped out by an amateur.
Genuinely stupid.

A tough violent movie that is hard to watch at times. It certainly does not glamorise military life, but shows the after effects of deployment in conflict zones, that lives on in their lives on discharge. The comradery no longer there, and as a result the fall into a life of loneliness, anger with their thoughts playing on their minds and no outlet except in many cases drifting into crime. However, when the comradery returns and an outlet and counselling is there, well it just might help. But the built up anger over years of combat in theatres of conflict can have devastating consequences for veterans as displayed in this film.

A great first film. Great innovating - great story - loved the weapons drills and fight scenes and bootneck slang.
Well done lads - you got in there and did the work and you should be proud of it!
Loved the stunts and interesting twist at the end!
Huge respect and shout out to our forces - thanks for everything you do!
Watch and support this film and offer constructive feedback or just don't comment - it's pretty epic to see it get made and with limited budget to getting picked up and released by apple tv!
An entertaining watch and a phenomenal first effort!
Go check it out for yourselves!

Nice piece of work showing how the mind of ex-services persons can lead down a rabbit hole so to speak
Some of the conflict scenes very well shot and not a lot of this just run at the enemy nonsense you get from hollywood you can tell the team are ex services and have experienced combat.
Considering the budget and early stages of the teams career a very well put together film.
Some of the plot and supporting acting is a bit patchy but at least a 6 out of 10 but given a 7 as indy
Hoping the film does well, definitely worth a watch
Looking forward to the next works and future films with Tip.

After seeing the 4.5 rating on IMDb, I thought this may just be another low budget action flick without the goods. Wow, was I wrong!
Lower budget it may be but this film hits with everything it tries to do. Way better than the majority of much larger budget films of a similar nature. The main character and his story are above what you get with much higher rated films on IMDb. Is this movie the equivalent of John Wick? Not quite. But it's certainly still an enjoyable film with decent acting and heart.
If you were like me and questioning whether or not to skip this one, give it a shot. You likely won't regret it.

Sunray: Fallen Soldier hits hard-really hard. As a former Royal Marine, I went into this film with a mix of curiosity and cautious optimism, knowing some of the lads involved in making it. What they've pulled off on such a tight budget is nothing short of remarkable.
The action sequences stand out immediately. There's no Hollywood gloss here-just raw, gritty, and brutally efficient combat scenes that scream authenticity. Every punch, every shot, every tactical movement feels like it comes from people who've been there and done it. There's a real weight to the violence, and it's refreshing to see fights that aren't over-choreographed or stylized beyond recognition. It's straight-up, no-nonsense, and for those of us who've lived it, it resonates.
But beyond the action, Sunray has heart. It's a revenge story at its core, sure, but it digs deep into the emotional scars that come with a life in the military. The camaraderie, the guilt, the struggle to do what's right when the lines are blurred-this film doesn't shy away from any of it. There's a scene between Andy and Smudge that really hits home, showing the weight of duty versus personal moral codes. It's in those moments that the film transcends the usual action fare and delivers something truly meaningful.
Steven Blade's character, in particular, brings a raw and unfiltered look at the psychological toll of combat. His monologue when Echo Team reunites is a gut punch-an honest, no-frills portrayal of the guilt and regret that can haunt even the toughest among us. It's these emotional beats that give Sunray real depth and make it more than just another shoot-'em-up.
Of course, the film isn't without its rough edges. The budget constraints show in places, especially with some of the CGI-those fire effects in the opening scene could have done with a bit more polish. A few of the transitions feel abrupt, and there are moments where the pacing stumbles slightly. But honestly, considering what they had to work with, these are minor gripes in the grand scheme of things and this is a Stirling first effort. As always, improvise, adapt and overcome.
What makes Sunray truly special is the fact that it's a product of the Royal Marines community-written, acted, directed, and produced by those who've served. That authenticity bleeds through in every frame. It's a testament to what can be achieved with grit, passion, and a relentless drive to tell a story that matters.
If you're after a film with heart, action, and a healthy dose of realism, Sunray: Fallen Soldier delivers. It's not just a great effort for an indie film-it's a damn good film, full stop. Hats off to the team; they've done us proud.

Given that this was an indie film created by veterans I knew it would be tactically accurate and low(er) budget. After watching the film the action is solid and no instances of tactical suspension of disbelief to be found but there are the inevitable low budget production traces (but surprisingly not many at all!).
It's a mix of Liam Neeson in 'Taken' mixed with De Niro in 'Deer Hunter' with a Royal Marine flavour. The story is actually pretty original to be honest and a good few plot twists and turns. The veteran actors were pretty believable and given that they are mostly playing ex military types, obviously look the part.
It's not a Hollywood film and viewers shouldn't expect it to be. Overall it's a decent film and certainly above its budget class as well as telling a less stereotypical PTSD sub plot which was nice to see.

Not all films have the luxury of a Hollywood budget, but that doesn't mean they can't make a significant impact. Such is the case with this particular project, which marks an impressive first attempt at both writing and production.
It's especially exciting to see a good friend of mine, Tip Cullen, fulfil his dreams and ambitions in the world of film. Shifting career direction from the military to filmmaking was never going to be easy, but watching Tip navigate this transition is inspiring. His success in making this film is not only a personal triumph but also a positive message to others who have big dreams-no matter how challenging the journey may seem.
Hats off to Tip and the entire Sunray Productions team for overcoming constraints and producing a movie that resonates deeply.
For a debut, the film does a commendable job of establishing its voice. The writing, while not flawless, manages to capture a genuine sense of character development and storytelling. The plot may feel familiar to some, but it's delivered with a raw sincerity that suggests a deep understanding of the material.
One of the standout aspects of the film is its ability to create emotional resonance despite a lack of high-budget sets or special effects. Tip and his team have clearly made the most of their limited resources, focusing on what truly matters: the heart of the story.
Most notably, the film tackles heavy, real-world themes-such as PTSD and the bond of comradeship-that are handled with sensitivity, honesty and depth. It's a thoughtful exploration of the challenges faced by those who serve, and the importance of connection in the healing process. The film serves as a conversation starter, getting audiences to reflect on the emotional scars of war and the strength it takes to move forward.
It's a great first attempt, one that shows potential for future success.
A solid start for a first-time filmmaker, showing promise in both storytelling and production. Hats off to Tip Cullen and the Sunray Productions team for delivering a film that sparks important conversations about PTSD, comradeship, and the power of perseverance.
All the best for whatever you create next.

What they have done here is nothing short of remarkable considering the budget. There's multi million pound Hollywood films that I've turned off after 10 minutes. This isn't a Blair witch project shot in a woods on a camcorder, this has had to have multiple costumes, locations and effects. Hats off to everyone involved for pulling this off. I hope you all go on to do amazing things.
As an aside, whoever sold this 'idea' needs a pat on the back. Selling a product is hard but selling an idea is even harder. To get people to back this film from a script or an idea means that whoever did it deserves the highest accolade. Well done to all involved for taking a risk, it will pay off I'm sure!

Loved this film, I've been looking forward to it coming out for a few years, and it was worth the wait. Everyone involved deserves a huge chuck up, and I'll look forward to seeing where this film takes all involved next. Accurate portrayal of military learned skills and brilliant to watch! Great effort - I'll watch it again! You can see how everyone involved has put 100% into this film - and every character had a great story to add value to this original and intriguing plot. It's clear to see the dedication and professionalism of each and everyone involved in this project, and the shared ethos.
