The Kickstarter campaign for this film reached its initial funding goal of $250,000 within 24 hours. The initial stretchgoals (up to $600,000) were reached with 1,5 weeks of the campaign remaining, which prompted in the addition of further stretchgoals (up to $1,000,000) - which were also reached before the end of the campaign. When the campaign finished after one month, a total sum of $1,390,845 was pledged by 14,720 supporters - making it the most funded horror film on Kickstarter.
About 8 months after NEON acquired the film, they set up 3 days worth of additional reshoots for over $1m after reading the original script and wanting to give Stuckmann the opportunity to film particularly bloody scenes that they couldn't shoot with the initial budget. They also brought in Brett W. Bachman to give the finished film a "fresh and polished" edit.
In his Youtube video discussing his personal best films of 2020, Chris Stuckmann gave an honorable mention to the film Hunter Hunter (2020) and to it's lead star Camille Sullivan's performance. Years later in a full circle moment, he would cast Sullivan as the lead in this film, his feature directioral debut.
