Alona Saar stars as an officer in an Israeli military training camp who isn't sufficiently self-confident and authoritative to handle the job smoothly. She's in charge of a mixed bag of soldiers who provide sufficient material for the first season's episodes, and it's easy to sympathize with her plight . After the first season, the show keeps going by adding new characters, but they're not as strongly differentiable and not as interesting as the original characters and the difficulties that the lead character has in asserting her position are an overfamiliar theme. The show focuses somewhat less on her, but no one else seems quite right to carry an episode. After all, the show is called (in Hebrew at least) "The Commander."
