just as good as MLP: FIM, as long as you are more concerned about the canon than the audience

This series is just as good, if not better, than the previous generation! But why are they cancelling it I hear?

The cast may be different completely (I don't know why they had to recast it, but I enjoy hearing Robert Tinkler's vocal effects), but they still carry the characters' personalities well. The animation may not be as realistic as the movie and not as in-this-world as the previous series, but it's colourful and vivid, and shows that it's the same world but just evolved. The songs are AMAZING and honestly hard to stop listening to (especially those by AJ Bridel and Sofia Wylie), those enthusiastic vocal chords and electronic sound mixing is rev-olu-tionay (as Pipp Petals would say)! Some stuff is pretty questionable (especially one episode where a character's mother forces her children to annually sit still for hours, risking heart disease and cancer, so just be aware), but viewing overall it is a just-as-good-as-ever installment of the franchise.

So, what the issue with the show's history? It's the upcoming CANCELLATION, that's right, cancellation! And why is this? It's all because of a spin-off series "Tell Your Tale", which happens to be more popular with the targeted younger audience. What all wrong with this decision? Well, "Tell Your Tale" is actually set in the MLP Calarts universe (the same setting as the "Pony Life" series) rather than Canon Equestria, which means that the animation style is much worse (as well as bad messages, bad logic, ect.) and that they are at risk of abandoning the universe of "Friendship is Magic". If anything, they should cancel "Tell Your Tale", so that "Make Your Mark" can have the popularity it deserves. Although TYT was better than I expected (not complete rubbish, it was a funny comparison sometimes), it was nowhere near as good as MYM (the worst installment of the franchise I've seen, I'd even go as far as to say it was bad for kids) and is irrelevent since it is not canon!

What they should do, is make this series go for 9 seasons (just like FIM did), and then make a trilogy of movies (theatrical, I do not want Netflix to take over) that can explain the overall timeline of all canon MLP generations and reveal the MLP multiverse (which has at least 3 or 4 worlds at this point).

Great Netflix show about magical rainbow-colored ponies.

-THE ANIMATION-

MYM is considerably less polished than the MLP:ANG movie (therefore I rated it 8/10 instead of 9/10 stars). However, the animation and plot are great considering this is a show produced for Netflix! It is superior in terms of animation quality and voice acting compared to many of the 3D kid's shows out there.

-THE PLOT-

The ponies have to figure out how to live in a world with magic. But it is not all fun and rainbows for the ponies, because change can be hard... Even if the change is for the better.

Moreover, not everypony has good intentions...

(*coughs* BAD pony alert!)

I was NOT ready for how much the quality dropped off between the movie and the series.

Hard to watch

I reluctantly came to really enjoy the movie after my daughter became obsessed with it and was so excited there would be more to the story...

This is bad. The animation falls flat. The characters move unnaturally (even for animated ponies) and are bad caricatures of the movie characters. Even my daughter can't watch more than 5-10 minutes at a time... there could be some interesting plot points but they're not well handled and it's so hard to watch to even get to them.

No just no...

I liked the movie so much. But what the hell is this? The characters are not what they used to be. The animation is bad. Let's hope this gets better...

My DAUGHTER loves it!

Not sure why the reviews are so bad. But it could be because a bunch of adults are rating a show catered to kids. My 9 year old daughter loves the show, the graphics, and especially all the color combos of the ponies. She watches it and keep pausing it to show me certain scenes. She noticed all the characters from the movie that was released and their stories. The story lines were well thought out from the scenes she had me watch, let alone there were a lot of funny scenes. Again, it's a perfect show for kids. So it's a 8/10 from my daughter. Good job Netflix for creating yet another good show for KIDS to enjoy!

So Far, So Good

I'm only a few episodes into the first season, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far. The movie that started this was kind of "meh," in my opinion, but the show is much better. Is it as good as FIM? No, not really, but it's not awful, either. The first episode took a while to take off, but when it did, I was hooked. I'm hoping that this will become even better as time goes on, as some series get much better after the first season (or, if you're a Trekkie, grows its beard). Anyway, if you haven't gotten past the first half of the first episode, like I didn't, you really should. I'm certainly glad I did.

Disgustingly bad

Title says it all, everything about this is terrible... they've reused the high quality models from the film but the animation is shockingly bad, the story is rubbish and the characters don't even act like the originals.

My thoughts aside, my children were confused and walked away from it shortly after it started and they've watched the film around 100 times .

Cute new twist on My Little Pony.

It's got a lot to uphold being the successor to Friendship is Magic. The animation for the series was never going to be as pretty as the movie, it's not the best but it's also not terrible.

There are a few aspects of the series which bother me, particularly the over-use of mobile phones by Pipp. (I feel like this will be a part of her character development however). A few of the songs have felt a forced/unnecessary and there have been moments where it has felt very childish.

However, it IS a kids show. The characters are cute and likable. I'm curious to see where the story goes and there have been a few moments that have given me that warm fuzzy feeling. So far, I have really enjoyed the new series. I'm excited to see what the future holds for My Little Pony.

a slap in the face for all friendship is magic fans

I've been waiting to see this show ever since the movie came out. I was very positively surprised with the great new characters, new designs, the story and overall the brand new era for ponies. However, this show has caused nothing but disappointment and longing for more friendship is magic to be created instead. Lauren Faust has redesigned ponies in a way that no one ever thought would be possible and we cannot thank her enough for this. It would seem that any story created after this would at least try to follow into her footsteps. But no.

The story leaves much to be desired but it's really the animation that hurts the most. There is nothing natural about the movement of the characters and the whole thing lacks flow. It resembles old 2004 shrek movies rather then the modern animation. To top it all of the backgrounds? The first few scenes gave me stein teletubbies vibes with the slopes and occasional singular bush or a tree. It looks plastic and unfinished.

As a person who spent their teen years in awe of Friendship is magic and as an animator myself I am so extremely saddened by this show and the fact that anyone who has ever had the pleasure to work on Frienship is magic has to see this become their "legacy".

I like that the five ponies' friendship is so strong it's the only thing needed to keep the power of the crystal from fading. They don't do it individually-they do it together

My Little Pony: Make Your Mark is an entertaining, full-length episode that will have audiences counting the days until the release of the upcoming series. This show doesn't really require you to watch the My Little Pony movie beforehand, and that is a good thing. You'll be entertained watching this show either way.

This show focuses on the new characters that were first presented in the previous movie, My Little Pony: A New Generation. In Maritime Bay, it's now normal for Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi to interact with each other and to be friends. But lately things have been tense between some of the ponies, and their friendship has been off. Zipp Storm (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) has noticed this tension has caused the unity crystal's power to fade. Now Zipp and her friends have to figure out a way to stop it before it gets out of hand.

In My Little Pony: Mark Your Mark I like that the five ponies' friendship is so strong it's the only thing needed to keep the power of the crystal from fading. They don't do it individually-they do it together. My favorite characters in this show are Sunny (Jenna Warren) and Izzy (Ana Sani). I like Sunny and Izzy because they both have positive attitudes no matter the situation, and they are nice, genuine ponies. I think that was one of the key factors in saving Maritime Bay. I also like Zipp because she is funny and confident. Another thing I like about this show is that it includes everyone's differences, which sends the message that even if you are different, you can still be friends and work together.

The message of My Little Pony: Mark Your Mark is that you have to do what is right and good for you and not what's good for other people. Throughout the show, this is shown through Zipp's character. She doesn't know whether she wants to go back home and become a princess, or stay in Maritime Bay with her friends. In the end, she does what is right for her. My Little Pony: Mark Your Mark is family friendly and has a really good message that everyone, no matter who they are, will take away

I give My Little Pony: Make Your Mark 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 4 to 8. You can watch this show on Netflix starting May 26, 2022. Be sure to check it out!

Like a cheap kids cartoon

It really looks cheap in every aspect. The world looks boring and empty. The dialogue is what a kid would play with their toys. The story spits out so many ideas which all just seem to try to beat eachother in "coolness". The movie is really loud at times. Like having to scream or sing out lines just to make the kids look at the screen again.

It is definitely back to its roots: My little pony is for kids.

Deserves a chance

Really enjoyable adorable series! I absolutely love the characters and the character designs, the songs are really catchy, and the vibes are just so good. My only issues are that the pacing of the story is a little slow and has a few plot holes due to it being a continuation of FiM instead of its own thing. Despite that, I seriously recommend watching it before review bombing it with bad reviews just for being a new generation. Fans of the fourth generation of My Little Pony (FiM) are too quick to judge this new generation and should seriously give it a chance before immediately dismissing it and review bombing.

just remove all of the G4 elements and say is just another universe

Just remove twilight sparkle and delete everything that says is a "continuation of G4 " this show obviously was meant to leave the G4 universe completely it frustrated me so much how the marketing is focus on saying "oh G4 lore " when it isn't and is quiet clearly that the people who give it a 10/10 are people who never seen G4. There was even one who said IS NOT G4 and they are RIGHT!!!!

REMOVE TWILIGH SPARKLE AND ANY OTHER PLANS OF INTRODUCING THE MANE 6 i know that is what they want to do for clickbait and if this is a farm hating for views look at velma show everyone talk about the few episodes and then it gets ignore completely REMOVE G4 FROM THE SHOW.

Just say no to bad toy commercials

This is so bad, G5 started out pretty good, but the main TV series is poorly executed and riddled with blaring bad management decision including what is obviously nothing more than huge promos for specific toys.

The villains for flat and uninspired, the main cast especially Hitch took a personality down grade, the writing staff between TYT and MYM are clearly not communicating very well.

The current batch of episodes have some good moments but are far and few between.

The animation is good enough, but there are some strange choices, like replacing the drink cups with weird tiny ones, and making the hooves bend to act like hands.

Thankfully my children found the series even less tolerable than I did. They stopped watching after the third episode, as for me I watched the full eight simply out of curiosity to see if they would improve.

Give it a chance, it's getting better

Chapter 1: 7/10 Chapter 2: 8/10 Chapter 3: 8/10 Chapter 4: 9/10

That's my ranking for the show thus far.

With each chapter, it improves and I'm confident this will continue.

Most of the fandom who've watched this either like or love it. Those that don't probably can't stand the fact the show hasn't been Friendship is Magic all over again. The criticism comes from the simple approach to the storytelling, while this is valid, remember who the core audience is. Hasbro haven't. Of course, their main concern is parting parents from their pocketbooks.

The show for what it is is good. Give it a try.

Don't listen to the other reviews...

Honestly. This is a different show entirely, the animation is different, the characters are different, the show is different. Because it's not G4. Plain and simple. All these other reviews are complaining how it's not Frindship is Magic. Well of course it's not because it's not supposed to be. For those complaining on the animation, in my opinion it's better than the animation they used in G4, at least now the characters have more depth and characteristics than just what they had on The Hub/Discovery Family.

I will agree in saying that the story was a bit hard to follow but you get that with any pilot episode. Hasbro will take the feedback, make adjustments where they need to and move forward.

I for one can't wait till more episodes drop! Keep up the good work!
