Liam Neeson was forced to turn down the role of Father Reitel, due to his commitment to Retribution (2023), with the production unable to move dates due to ongoing Covid restrictions.
Shane Robinson replaces Jason Gerard as the character of the Strap from Requiem for a Fighter (2018), as it was thought he would make a more convincing Guardian character in the dual role and would be a better match as partner of Jaime Winstone. Not wanting to miss out on working with Jason Gerard again, Jason was cast in the role of Andy McCauley.
Although set in Portrush, it was shot on multiple locations in Northern Ireland, including exterior scenes on the Portrush Peninsula. School scenes in City of Derry and Buncrana for the fun fair scenes.
For scenes set in Ancient Middle East, they shot at White Sands - Portrush, located a few miles from City of Derry the directors Home town. Those scenes are easy to identify because the sky is particularly bright and clear, and the beach sand exceptionally white and fine.
