The overproduced - Hunter whining and being entitled stuff - should not be the focus of season 2. Fans of these gold rush shows want to see underdog stories, tech, machines, fixes, animated gfx on how this stuff works, techniques and a small dash of the relationships of the people that work so hard. I can feel the producers behind the camera pushing narratives with this one. I like rooting for the fam, but don't need the Season 2 episodes 1&2 stuff with Hunter.
Season 1 was great, got me excited for season 2 and conquering this new territory. But so far season 2 I had to change my rating from a 9 to a 6 for the show.

Who is the worst? This mine owner Jason could well be a dumber miner then Todd. He had a crew there that had now cleaned any gold. Trucks and wash plants that are falling apart. Water lines patched with duct tape what a laugh.
Todd Hoffman, is a bit of a narcissist. He know just enough to think he knows it all, and in reality he is a completely clueless when it comes to mining. He insists on running the equipment when ever anything crucial is about to take place, and he is simply a terrible operator. He has no clue how to lean on the expertise of his crew, he keeps doing the most basic mistakes. He does not know the basics of running machines, maintenance, capabilities, risk factors. He does exactly the wrong things, at precisely the wrong times. This makes him really entertaining to watch though, since he keeps doing the same insanely stupid things over and over.
If he fails at something, he is always blaming the equipment, and the persons standing closest to him.
He has this weird idea, that the only thing that held him back in the past was the quality of the equipment.
But no, It was the naivety of a toddler, falling for scams, and going on wild goose chases without realizing his own limitations.
Luck, will only get you this far. IF he'd hired actual miners to RUN his mine, he would be a success.
But yeah, to sum it up, it's hilarious to see him elaborate and go on about things completely unrelated to the problems he is facing, as if he knows what he's talking about. He has the audacity of talking down the people who actually has half a clue.

Hunter at age 22 if you want Todd's respect then earn it. You basically demanded that you get your own washplant and Todd pay for it. You walking around demanding stuff go your way while you wear a cowboy hard hat with a damn toothpick out your mouth make you look stupid. Grow up and act like a man right now you come across as a rich spoiled brat and for that action you get no respect. You want to make your own calls then get out from under your dad's checkbook and earn it by working. Look at the gold miners that have successful gold mines like Tony Beets, Parker to name a couple. Their success hasn't come easy but what they have they worked hard and earned it. I'd love to see you work for Tony Beets a couple months or Parker for a couple months. Well that is if you made it that long without whining and getting yourself fired.
I'm getting tired of hearing that this is Jacks final year when everyone knows that he will decide to come back. Jack has a nerve to blame Andy for the run off problem when he has been nothing but a screw up himself!! Last time I checked Andy never knocked over a wash plant like Jack did in South America!!
Jack needs to get over himself and just wash gold, that is the simplest job you can have! Jack is a grandpa and he should just concentrate on being that and nothing more because his contributions to the Hoffman effort has been minimal at best!
Thurber needs to man up and stop crying all the freaking time, that is also getting old!!
