Reviewing for time travel lovers

Wow I love these type of time travels, especially the one which you will be given a knot to release one by one, exploring episodes, character and finally getting a chance to reveal the last knot with full of surprises. I binged this series in a day and loved the way it moves with time travel and love. It's magic. Do watch it if you are an time travel fan.

Watch for the writing, stay for the scenery

Nicely written, with a group of actors I've never seen any of them before, and hours of breathtaking scenery. Is this the Rhône river? Is that the Ardeche Gorge? I don't know there's no credits anywhere as to where it was filmed, but it's utterly fantastic. The music is good- a series of flash backs to 30 years ago that was handled well.

You will not regret watching this, it's very entertaining!

A true gem! you will be hooked !

Its been a long time since i binge watched a tv series, but i gotta say this series got me hooked from the start to the end, i watched the entire show in one weekend and i still have a taste for more. Its well written, actors are also very good and the storyline is completely interesting as well as the soundtrack. Made me miss the 90s and also miss france. I hope they will make another season with another story like this.

this show is so good

Just finished the show, I loved it so much that it took me almost a week before I saw the last episode cos I was so afraid for Lea but it ended well, the cast were phenomenal, the plot was so intriguing and it kept you guessing till the end.. I don't see it getting a second season, but if it does, I will be over the moon.

A nice surprise

I loved this show. Some of the sex stuff was a bit too much, but hey, they're French. It also could be a little juvenile at times, but the story is still charming and original, it will still draw you in. Time travel is one of my favorite genres, I'll watch almost any show that revolves around it. So if you love time travel, you may love this show.

The characters are likable and relatable, the cinematography is breathtaking, and the pace kept me engaged the entire time. It even has a perfect ending. All the actors are good, not to mention gorgeous. They each did a convincing job as the confused Lea transferred into a different body, and with the perfect amount of humor too. The scenery is also a character of the show. What a beautiful landscape.

I was surprised I liked it this much. I hope more people give it a chance so it's picked up for a second season. Many of us need to see what happens to all these great characters, especially Lea. I do wish they had explored why and how Lea was able to time travel. Maybe next season we will get more answers.

An absolutely riveting twist on the archetypal love story

This show manages to be enthralling both in its premise and its execution. The character development is strong and the world building is fascinating. The mystery builds in a way that feels natural, and the tension built as the consequences of Leas reality become apparent is excellent.

As for the conclusion of the season, I find it difficult to imagine a more devastating, intriguing, and satisfying end to Lea's journey of 7 lives.

not really great but not terrible

The idea is interesting, I was able to watch whole series in just few days, I enjoyed some acting and it wasn't boring like other shows on Netflix, however all the political things were turn off to me.

Girl from the future

I just started watching this and already it's playing to my science fiction fantasy, time travel vibe. I think I'm hooked on it. Sort of a crazy teenager mixed up world has started. As the synopsis said she found a dead body and she doing time travel.

She found the book/journal she had buried 30 years before. Now she knows that she wasn't dreaming. This is so good.

It get kind of crazy as she go each time and gets to live one day of their life back as a different person. They never remember what happened when she was them.

She is trying to save the guy she found dead from dying because she has fallen in love with him.

Then school life is so weird compared to our countries school.

So much sex in it though. She is just a mixed up little girl but an interesting one. It, the story keeps you mesmerised. Are a viewer you just can't let it go. You just must keep watching. It is really fascinating. It will just hook you in.

The thing that makes it so believable is the strong theme of drug taking and that alone takes you into the realms unknown.

The scenery and cinematolgy is so good. You want to just stop and suck it all up. Bit too much sex but maybe important for the detail of the story.

Interesting but too much drugs

It has an interesting premise of time loop where the main character wakes up in a different person's body every day and returns back to her own the next day. And in between she is trying to save an Arabic high schooler from getting killed about 30 years ago.

Some episodes seem to be just there for her making out with someone. She practically sleeps with someone in every one of her body swaps.

I don't understand why does every character say they wont finish High School. And surprisingly coming from ones who are poor and finishing school ,may actually create a better life for them.

Also they never show any of the kids ever studying. Maybe its a French cultural thing which as a Asian I don't understand ,as High Schoolers are practically chained by the system to books in Asian countries. It's do or die years for them.

Netflix normalising school kids taking so much drugs without warning is not healthy. I stopped watching first episode of Russian doll season 2 for the casual drug taking and here we have High School kids bingeing on drugs. No Netflix don't set bad examples for kids or even adults, drug habit is self-destructive.

Lame

This is one of those tv serieses where the first episode really make an impact on you and you become impressed by how unique the main idea is and how much more it will give down the road. However, even with such an outstanding idea the implementation of it slowly becoming ridiculous as it turns to be a childish teenager relationship story where every episode focuses on one character and his/her sufferings instead of developing our main character as well as uncovering the science behind what is happening.

Even though the mystery is not bad here, most of the scenes of this show can be skipped without losing details about the main story. This shows that the show focuses on side stories which is not everyone favorite, at least not my favorite.

After the first episode, I was expecting a decent show but unfortunately this wasn't rewarded.

Slightly recommended but not the best french tv out there for sure !

Rollercoaster of emotions

What an unexpected netflix gem! I like time travel/time loop movies and series so the theme was already intriguing. I did not, however, expect it to be this good. The story unfolds in tiny bits and it keeps you hooked for the 7 episodes.

The scenery is amazing and I really like the way they managed to capture the essence of early 90's theme.

I felt joy, anger, fear, sorrow and had few moments of goosebumps and tears. It's just amazing story and a rollercoaster of emotions!

One of the best recent TV series

I couldn't help just saying that this is an amazing TV series... In the end I just couldn't help my tears falling, that's how much it touched me. This is one of the best recent TV productions, just give it a try, if you have a heart it will touch you just as much as it touched me. It's one of those rare art works that stay with you even when the lights are on and the story reached its end.

One of this year's best surprises (so far)

A thoroughly enjoyable time traveling/body swap / thriller story with stunning South of France sceneries and a killer soundtrack. Another foreign Netflix gem.

Good atmosphere.

A series that can be watched with pleasure, nothing exceptional but an atmosphere that works and the beautiful Verdon Gorge. A black point on the choice of filmmaking, many scenes with an unpleasant vignetting to the eye. Part of the story takes place in 1991 but we can see the father with a t-shirt tribute to the film Forrest Gump yet released in 1994.

It's a fun ride that works

Like the adolescents at its center, the series is a bit all over the place. But if you indulge, it totally works. Bonus for the France based 90s références, which surprise and delight - even if buttered a little thick.

The cast is engaging, the story moves along and there's some cool ideas explored here and there. Worth it!

Worth your time

Based on the short young adult novel "The 7 lives of Leo Belami" this Netflix series adaption tells the story of Lea; a 17 year old aimless and depressed girl too scared to try at life, yet unsure why she should exist without really living. When Lea finds a dead body whilst attempting to take her own life outdoors, she confronts her parents youth and the other players in their orbit.

Whilst attempting to unravel the mystery of how the man she found came to die, Lea finds strength within herself to try at life and become whole. What at first glance by some may appear to be just more Netflix woke themes, quickly unveil themselves to be a master class in the anti-woke. To pull this off Lea's character grows and sheds her fear, depression and malaise through struggle, slapstick hyperbole, and a hard dose of reality.

As Lea grows aware of the feelings of others, she is able to let go of her insecurities and unrealistic expectations to just live.

The 7 lives of Lea is a true coming of age story for anyone born after 1990, that just might change your world view for the better.

Fast-paced entertainment that makes it worthwhile to suspend belief

I've always had a tough time taking time-travel movies and series seriously, as science has firmly established that actual time travel is one of the most far-fetched theories around. Time travel is probably impossible, and if it could EVER happen, we'd probably be pretty aware of it by now since a lot of people would be visiting the past already and the entire world would be upended. Can you imagine if someone went back in time and killed Hitler when he was in his 20s and just a nobody? You can bet that if time travel was possible in the future, say in 100 or 200 years, someone would've already gone back and killed Hitler. Multiply that scenario by several million and you can see that time travel is the LAST thing we would ever want to happen.

Even so, since "Back to the Future" some 40 years ago, we've all been enamored with time-travel movies, and "The 7 Lives of Lea" managed to snare me in for the full run.

The series is terrific and an easy watch, and I never felt it was too long or moved too slowly. Raïka Hazanavicius is our protagonist, Léa, and helps get us on her side with an accomplished performance. Khalil Ben Gharbia, as Ismaël, also delivers a compelling character and we're rooting for him to survive all the way. The rest of the cast provides effective support for a fairly complex story that has a different twist on the time-travel theme.

I share some critics' viewpoint that some of the characters -- including some that we're supposed to root for -- weren't exactly nice people and their selfishness made it a little tougher to like them.

And a couple reviewers mentioned the butterfly effect, but they don't have a full grasp of the concept. The butterfly effect, as it applies to time-travel movies, essentially means that a small change in the past can be the cause of much larger consequences. In "The 7 Lives of Lea," the volume of changes initiated by Léa 30 years in the past would have enormous effects that would change hundreds of people's lives, if not thousands. (And killing Hitler in his 20s would've affected hundreds of millions of people.)

It's part of why I have a tough time with time-travel films and series. But like so much of the entertainment we consume, I just suspend disbelief and buy into the show. And with my beliefs judiciously set aside, I found "The 7 Lives of Lea" thoroughly entertaining and look forward to the second season, which is apparently going to happen this year (2024).

Cliche underdeveloped characters ruin good idea

While partying in a gorge along the river bank Lea who was about to swallow a handful of pills (to terminate her life?) discovers a skeleton burried in the river bank. This starts a time travel chain of events to 20 years earlier, each time Lea waking up in a different body of those involved with the death of this man. Has he been murdered or was it an accidental death?

The concept is a very good take on time travel concepts. Alas the script is not. The characters are as shallow, undeveloped and interchangeable as a pack of cards. The dialogue is abysmal and trite. The teenagers sole motive whether at or outside school is to get laid. This becomes repetitive and boring. Infact everyone seems to be bored or acting bored to various levels whether adults or youngsters in any time period The scenery is very nice and the acting is generally good despite the characters having little material to work on A wasted concept.

Don't mind the high ratings given on social media. This must have been the work of bots.

The best show I've watched on Netflix

This is actually my first review on IMDB. I decided to join because I felt the need to praise this show immensely.

The plot is truly original and the execution of the character development is fresh and intriguing.

This show deserves all the awards it deserves: original screenplay, cinematography, best actress, actor, supporting actors, director, soundtrack, the list goes on.

Real, romantic, sad, heroic, intriguing, mysterious and mesmerizing. 10/10!!!
