Director and writer David Hayter came up with the idea of the film after turning down similar projects. His script was originally titled "Slaughter's Road."
In one scene a license plate reads "VICBOSS" in reference to Big Boss from the Metal Gear Solid series who was voiced by Director David Hayter.
An unfinished private screening was held in June of 2013, in Los Angeles.
Wolves (2014) is a Canadian action horror film written and directed by David Hayter, and starring Lucas Till, Stephen McHattie, John Pyper-Ferguson, Merritt Patterson and Jason Momoa. The film received a negative critical response.
