An overlooked Bill Skarsgård thriller is climbing the streaming charts months after its quiet theatrical run. The younger brother of True Blood star Alexander Skarsgård and the son of Emmy nominee Stellan Skarsgård, Bill Skarsgård is best known for portraying the antagonist Pennywise in the 2017 Stephen King horror movie It, in addition to its sequel and an upcoming spinoff.

While the It movies were financially successful, as were his later movies John Wick: Chapter 4 and Nosferatu, several recent Bill Skarsgård movies have had underwhelming performances at the box office.

This includes the 2023 action-comedy Boy Kills World, which only grossed $3.3 million by the end of its theatrical run in 2024. That movie was followed by the 2024 adaptation of The Crow, which grossed just $24.1 million against its reported $50 million budget after debuting at No. 8 at the domestic box office.

Andrew Koji, best known for “Bullet Train” and the Max series “Warrior,” will next star in the cast of an indie action and heist film called “High Stakes Holiday.”

The film is in the vein of “Ocean’s 11” meets “Home Alone” and follows a jaded ex-MI6 agent turned security guard (Koji) who teams up with two sharp-witted sisters on vacation in Las Vegas after they get caught in the middle of a high-stakes heist. The trio must tag team to outsmart a cunning international thief and save a priceless diamond gauntlet — just in time for Christmas.

“High Stakes Holiday” also stars actual sisters Madeleine McGraw, best known for “The Black Phone,” and Violet McGraw, best known for “M3GAN,” as the two on-screen sisters who must team up with Koji’s character. Azizi Donnelly, Jack Griffo, Struggler Jennings, and Brynne Kurland also co-star.

Hideo Kojima is bringing his signature storytelling to the big screen. Following the recent announcement of Death Stranding 2 at The Game Awards, Kojima Productions has officially partnered with Hammerstone Studios to develop and produce a film adaptation of Death Stranding.

Per Deadline, Hammerstone, led by Alex Lebovici, will fully finance the film, with Kojima himself producing alongside Lebovici. Additional production support will come from Kojima Productions US, with Allan Ungar serving as an executive producer. While details on the plot remain under wraps, the film promises to expand on the Death Stranding universe, introducing new elements and characters rather than directly adapting the game’s storyline.

While video game adaptations have historically been hit-or-miss, Kojima and Lebovici are setting out to redefine the genre. Unlike the typical blockbuster-style adaptations, they promise something more intimate and grounded.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences aren't taking any prisoners this year, as they've just announced that, of the 323 films eligible for Oscar nominations this year, a whopping 116 of those have already been excluded from the Best Picture category. There are 323 feature films eligible for the upcoming Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Monday, though a whopping 36% of those – 116 feature films – are not eligible for consideration in the Best Picture category.

The discrepancy between films that have qualified for the top category and films that are eligible in other categories comes either because the filmmakers did not attempt to qualify – likely the case for several documentary, animated or international films. Or because of new eligibility rules that require Best Picture candidates to meet additional benchmarks for diversity and inclusion. This is the second year that Representation and Inclusion Standards (Raise) have been enforced, though they did not appear to disqualify any serious contenders in the category.

During the newest season of Virgin River, one episode serves as a backdoor pilot to the first-ever spinoff set within the Virgin River universe. Since its 2019 debut, Virgin River has gained a significant fanbase, leading to six seasons, with season 7 already on the way. The show follows Mel, a nurse practitioner, who moves to the titular town and falls in love with Jack Sheridan, a marine turned bar owner.

Virgin River had the potential for different lead characters, considering the books by Robyn Carr switch main characters, but Netflix has chosen to focus instead on Mel and Jack. Following the success of the animated film ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,’ Paramount Pictures is bringing the iconic franchise to life with a new live-action project. However, this adaptation is set to take a darker, more mature approach, exploring a world of an R-rated storyline.

The studio is reportedly developing ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin,’ a live-action film based on the popular Idw comic series. Tyler Burton Smith, known for his work on the upcoming R-rated action film ‘Boy Kills World’ and the 2019 ‘Child’s Play’ reboot, will write the script for this intense story.

According to scooper Mttsh, Aquaman director James Wan is being eyed to helm the movie.

In addition to both Aquaman movies, Wan is known for directing a number of horror films such as The Conjuring, Saw, Insidious and Malignant.

Gus Van Sant hasn’t directed a film in several years now, with the American filmmaker most recently having made several episodes of Feud: Capote Vs The Swans for the small screens.

A few months ago, we heard that the director of My Own Private Idaho and Good Will Hunting would be reuniting with the stars of the latter film, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, to make Killing Gawker, an adaptation of Ryan Holiday’s book, Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, And The Anatomy of Intrigue.

That project will chart the real-life tale of how billionaire libertarian Peter Thiel used Hulk Hogan as his proxy to sue gossip website Gawker out of existence after it released a sex tape of the legendary wrestler.

Bill Skarsgård's string of disappointing movies on Rotten Tomatoes is being rectified by his upcoming acclaimed horror movie - Nosferatu. The upcoming story of Nosferatu is a remake of the horror classic from 1922 and directed by Robert Eggers. Robert Eggers' highly-ranked movies of the 2010s and 2020s have seen him become one of the more acclaimed horror directors working in Hollywood today, causing many to highly anticipate Nosferatu.

One of the big reasons for this anticipation is the actor portraying the titular character, Bill Skarsgård. Skarsgård's many horror movies and shows have made him somewhat of a modern veteran in the genre, with the actor capable of committing himself entirely to dark roles in a way man cannot. If you were an Internet 1.0 denizen, and/or you count yourself among the fans of geek culture, then 2015's "Kung Fury" is probably a favorite of yours. The short film written, directed by, and starring Swedish filmmaker David Sandberg, is a clever and vibrant homage to '80s action movies. A sort of collision between a meme, an Adult Swim special, a parody film, and a fan film (complete with its own underdog Kickstarter crowdfunding origin story) that beat the odds, "Kung Fury" features the involvement of celebrities like Jorma Taccone (of The Lonely Island) and David Hasselhoff, lending a bit of legitimate star power to what otherwise may have been seen as a curious goof. All this is to say that "Kung Fury" is thoroughly delightful, and its short length only helps make the prospect of a sequel more interesting.

The reviews for the new Prime Video series, Cross, are now in, with both critics and audiences building their cases and establishing whether the crime thriller series folds under investigation...or if it's the new Reacher. Based on James Paterson's bestselling "Alex Cross" novels, the main character uses forensic psychology to delve into the psyches of killers, identify the culprits, and bring murderers to justice. Cross stars Aldis Hodge and Isaiah Mustafa, and premiered on Thursday, November 14.

The series has now garnered a 70% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and 69% on the Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviews seem evenly mixed, with many praising the story and the central performance. MovieWeb's Greg Archer wrote viewers, "be prepared for fun."

Prime Video's Cross might be named after Alex Cross, but the man who plays him doesn't see the show that way. Black Adam star Aldis Hodge has stepped into the role created by novelist James Patterson and originated on the screen by the iconic Morgan Freeman. Filming on Retreat is now underway, which has set Tim Evans to direct. The Carpenter stars Kameron Krebs as “an adopted Viking orphan who becomes a carpenter’s apprentice to Jesus. The orphan, Oren, fights as a side hustle. James Patterson's iconic Washington D.C. detective and forensic psychologist is back in a big way with Cross. The upcoming Prime Video show serves as the fourth adaptation of Patterson's character, with Morgan Freeman having played him twice in the psychological thrillers Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, before being surpassed by Tyler Perry in the 2012 franchise reboot, Alex Cross.
