Radio has faced myriad challenges as a century-old medium, but a new report from Westwood One makes the case for its potency with the NFL, saying it reached nearly 64 million unique listeners last season.
That broad reach was one element of the research, which was released as the 2024-25 season gets set for kickoff on Thursday. Citing data from Nielsen’s Personal People Meter collected during the 2023-24 regular season and playoffs, the radio firm outlined key findings Tuesday in a blog post. The radio audience built from 8 million in Week 1 to 53.5 million by the final week of the regular season, with the postseason adding an additional 10.1 million listeners for a total of 63.6 million.
For advertisers, that large radio audience provides a key supplement to TV, according to the study. Adding Westwood One to TV ad buys increased reach by 16% among high-income, employed men between the ages of 18 and 49 and...

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

The abrupt cancellation of “Westworld” in late 2022 marked an unceremonious ending for what was once one of HBO’s buzziest series. Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan’s adaptation of Michael Crichton’s sci-fi novel followed the employees and customers of a futuristic theme park that allowed visitors to immerse themselves in the Wild West, taking out their most violent urges on realistic androids built to resemble humans. But while its debut season was a cultural phenomenon, declining viewership and critical reception prompted HBO to part ways with the show after Season 4.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “Westwood” star Evan Rachel Wood reflected on the show’s cancellation. She revealed that the most painful part of the process was being left in the dark about how the story would have ultimately ended.
“It was devastating in a lot of ways because, first of all, they don’t tell...

Lorna Tucker’s documentary about homelessness and ways to help end it will be heading to UK cinemas in February.
Director Lorna Tucker has turned her own experiences of homelessness into a touching, rousing documentary. Someone’s Daughter, Someone’s Son is heading to UK screens 16 February 2024 and arguably, it’s exactly the film we need right now as we face an unprecedented housing crisis. The film is narrated by Colin Firth.
But the future didn’t always look too bright for Someone’s Daughter, Someone’s Son. The team had to crowdfund in order to secure a theatrical release and they’ve now hit that milestone. Their Kickstarter campaign met the £30 000 goal just recently and Sam Fender, Adam Buxton and Bryan Adams, who wrote a song for the film, are among some of the project’s supporters.

Being announced on the first day of New York Comic Con by executive producer Akio Iyoku along with some of the voice cast from Dragon Ball Super, a teaser trailer was shown to the audience regarding the newest work by Akira Toriyama, which would help to celebrate forty years of the iconic franchise. At first, viewers were met with images of a fiery castle with two ominous figures standing inside. Surrounded by rotating prisms of purple light, these formidable aliens seemed to be concentrating on footage of Babidi and Dabura, two other iconic antagonists from Dragon Ball Z. After a dazzling spectacle from Shenron the Dragon, a puzzling scene took place which saw Goku and Vegeta turn into children. Not only that, but it seems like all the familiar names were also caught in this sudden peril, as Chi-Chi, Bulma, Krillin, Android 18, Piccolo, Master Roshi, and many others were...
