The game was developed by Rebellion, who made the original 1999 game and the trailers and screen shots of shown it to be much more like the original AvP game. In an interview, the developers said there would be online co-op mode. In the original AvP game, co-op mode was online skirmish where players could either be Predators or Marines fighting endless onslaughts of aliens.
This version will be called "Survival Mode" where up to 4 players can play as Marines surviving waves of Aliens. Similar to Nazi Zombies for Call of Duty: World At War, but stemming from the original idea of AvP.

Rebellion developed the original 1999 game. Sierra developed the second game and kept very few elements from the first game the same. Rebellion is developing this game again and said they are trying to stick close to the original as it was good at capturing the atmosphere of the films. So this could be seen as a re-boot of the original.
The stories interlace at certain points but the Alien story takes place first, the Predator's second and the Marine's third.
