I always used to have some soft corner for Josh Hartnett and was sad that over the years he didn't get a proper script to showcase his skills. The last good movie of his that I watched was Lucky Number Slevin and may be you can count 30 Days of Night too and since then I was expecting something good but didn't get any. Thanks to Guy Ritchie for bringing him back in Wrath of Man which somehow brought him into the limelight and he got to work with good directors from there on (sort of like KEANU REEVES who by the way is one of my favourites).
Fight or Flight is simply John wick on a plane but added a bit of humour to it so that the audiences won't find it to be boring and repetitive and added to that the surprise ending by the director made it more interesting. I never knew Josh could perform such slick moves and I hope he had fun filming them. Just for Josh and his never before stunts you could give this a try.

This film was better than I expected. Is it a masterpiece, definitely not, is it the worst thing I've ever seen definitely not.
It's very 90s esq cheesy action film based around a group of assasins trying to kill someone on a plane while a drunk former secret service operative tries to save her. Do not watch this film expecting to see an Oscar worthy great.
However, Josh Hartnett is really good and carries the film well. It's the first thing I've seen Charithra Chandran in and thought she was really good to. The action is over the top and stupid but at the same time entertaining.
The worst thing about the movie is the ending where the film is left unfinished and set up for a sequel, which is a huge pet hate of mine.

Fight or Flight is a perfect example of a fun movie. So, what makes a fun action flick? Let's explore.
First, you have to have good pacing. Things need to move, plot points need to happen frequently, slow parts/character moments need to be relatively short. This movie succeeds.
Second, the action needs to be on the crazy side, a bit over-the-top. No holding back, no cowardly PG-13 rating. Blood and gore are a plus. And a cherry on top would be if the action is filmed clearly, easy for the viewer to see. This movie succeeds.
Third, add some humor, preferably organic to the premise as opposed to inserting random jokes. If the tone of the movie is bloody, then use the bloodiness for humor. Make me laugh at the extent of the carnage. This movie succeeds.
Josh Hartnett does a great job in this role, especially with the humor. I had an awesome time with this movie and would watch it again.

Flight or Fight is ridiculous. Properly stupid film. Well over the top in every way.
Acting is so bad but funny and this is a darn decent watch.
The story is nothing not seen before.
Josh Hartnett is another in a long line of movie super spies with ridiculous skills in fighting etc.
But I'll put all that to the side because to be fair this film has some absolutely hilarious fight scenes and plenty of blood and creative kills.
It's colorful to an almost cartoonesque degree, bright and bold and at least you can see what's happening! So that's a huge bonus.
The humour mostly hits.
It takes about 5 minutes to work out who the 'baddie' is but this ain't Agatha Christie so probably best to forget that.
Just watch for the absolutely mental fight scenes. Because that's all this is.

Finally someone who made a smart decision with casting Josh in an action/comedy movie (again). Not sure if people in charge where sleeping or simply missed 'lucky number sleven' BUT this is Hartnett Deluxe!
Extremely funny, violent and charming!
As I didn't had this movie on the radar at all, I was even more excited while watching. Don't overthink the storyline, just let it happen!
The movie is currently available via amazon prime (Germany only), so we had to create an account in order to watch it. Not sure why the movie release differs from the US/ UK. On a side note, pretty sure the movie would have been successful as a theatrical release, considered by the trash that ends up on the big screen. Anyway enjoy, or not.
Excited for more!

Wow what to say about fight or flight? Well for starters it's absolutely bonkers! The action certainly never lets up a la crank. Unfortunately Josh hartnett is no Jason Statham but does a adequate job as the rogue FBI agent sent on one last job to redeem himself from the worldiness. Katie sackhoff play's his straight laced permanently scowling boss. The action mostly takes place aboard a aircraft en route to San Francisco full of assassins baying for hartnetts blood and one Very demure air hostess who isn't all she appears to be. The action set pieces are excellently choreographed especially the absolutely bonkers chainsaw sequence at the end I kid you not! But it's all in good fun and played out purely tongue in cheek! Leave your brain at the door, Go and enjoy!!

It's immediately obvious that this is the work of a first-time director. The staging feels forced, and every scene carries the unmistakable sense that the producers drastically cut the budget. Or there never was one to begin with. But confident first timer, eager to make his first film, was convinced he could deliver regardless. The airport scenes in Thailand, for example, feel oddly empty-like they could only afford about 20 extras. The supposed secret service command center is laughably unconvincing, resembling a dark studio with a giant screen, making the small set painfully obvious.
The cinematography does the film no favors either, often emphasizing the production's limitations rather than concealing them. Even the plane, a central location, feels strangely empty-another clear result of cost-cutting measures.
On top of that, the film feels oddly miscast. None of the actors seem believable in their roles, which only adds to the amateurish feel. The comedic performances fall flat, and the writing is painfully on the nose-you can see every joke coming from miles away, making the failed humor even harder to endure.
In the end, Fight or Flight is a textbook example of how poor planning, budget constraints, miscasting, and uninspired writing can crash a film before it ever takes off. A case of wasted potential.

First off this movie was way better than I ever anticipated. The wife and I just happened to stumble across it, and we're both in for the ride from the start. Josh Hartnett and Charithra Chandran were both great in this picture; especially the ruthless fight scenes.
Hats off to the "Runaway Bride of Bridgerton"; like seriously who knew she had action movie skills!
The movie was very humorous as well, with some similarities to comedic moments in Bullet Train; however, they didn't go out the way trying to explain characters throughout the movie which was a huge plus.
Can't wait to see what they do next!

Josh Hartnett rarely disappoints and this is no exception. Yes, it is a bit silly but it is a little funny, action packed and there was even a good bit of gore also which was a pleasant surprise. The only question that really ever matters is of course... Was it entertaining? And that is definitely a yes for Fight or Flight. I give this a solid 7.5 out of 10. It is one of those movies you just have to shut your brain off for. Do that and sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
Acting was fine, effects good, sound good, not really much to complain about. It's not going to win any awards but it will definitely entertain!

Seriously? People liked this? Are you all ok? Do you need some help or support?
Ok now, as of 2025 I have long gave up seeing a decent movie, good characters, nice acting etc.. but this? Unfortunately after John Wick we see repeatedly same brutal fights, gore, mindless violence etc. Etc. In movies. This movie decreases the bar even more below, no characters, no back story, no story telling but more violence, more blood.. oh, and it even disguises itself as "comedy-action"!!
I am really bored of these mindless "action" flicks and I felt bad for Josh Hartnett - who I used to like before. But the real shocker for me in this movie is Katee Suckhoff - who was our beloved Starbuck once. She has turned into a kind of zombie. Yes I guess the zombie apocalyopse is upon us and it began with the movie industry..

Fight or Flight is an unashamed genre mash-up that doesn't so much blend action and comedy as throw them into the overhead lockers and take off at full speed. Josh Hartnett leans into the absurdity with the same gusto Bruce Campbell brought to Evil Dead. All flailing limbs, deadpan one-liners, and a face that says, "I did not sign up for this." The film knows exactly what it is and, more importantly, what it isn't. It's not trying to be clever. It's trying to be fun, and it is.
There's a clear nod to Campbell's Ash in the way Hartnett navigates chaos. He somehow manages to be both the straight man and the punchline. At times, the film flirts with the ridiculousness of Snakes on a Plane. Just when you think it can't get more over-the-top, it throws in a set piece straight out of the John Wick playbook; if Wick were running on fumes and duct tape.
The violence is cartoonish. The humour lands more often than not. The pacing is tight enough to keep you buckled in. It's the kind of film that winks at the audience without smugness and invites you to enjoy the ride. You will.
It's a solid 7.5 out of 10. Not because it redefines the genre, but because it remembers what so many films forget. If you're going to be ridiculous, be really good at it.

I stumbled upon the 2025 movie "Fight or Flight" and opted to watch it on account of it being a movie that I hadn't already seen. In fact, I had never even heard about the movie prior to watching it, so I didn't know what I was in for. But usually the movies that Josh Hartnett shows up in tend to be watchable.
And color me impressed here. Writers Brooks McLaren and D. J. Cotrona put together a rather enjoyable storyline. Sure, it was a somewhat simplistic storyline, but there was so much action and violence crammed into the narrative that it was just well-worth taking 97 minutes to sit through. I was genuinely and wholeheartedly enjoying this action-packed thrill ride that is "Fight or Flight".
Josh Hartnett was phenomenally cast for this movie and he carried it so nicely. It was a pleasure to watch him back on the screen and in top form, nonetheless. He alone made it well-worth watching "Fight or Flight". Aside from Josh Hartnett, then there was only one other familiar face on the screen for me, and that was Katee Sackhoff. But they had a great cast ensemble, whom put on good acting performances throughout the course of the movie.
There is a lot of action and violence throughout the course of the 97 minutes that the movie runs for. And it was phenomenal to watch. It was choreographed nicely and executed equally nicely on the screen, just heightening the overall enjoyment of watching the movie. Much like "John Wick", the action and violence is almost a constant throughout the entire movie.
"Fight or Flight" is laced with some light comedy, which definitely helps to top off the violence and action. It was a nice combination and I had some good chuckles throughout the course of the movie.
It has been quite some time since I've been this entertained by an action movie. So thumbs up to director James Madigan and writers Brooks McLaren and D. J. Cotrona for that accomplishment.
This is definitely a movie that I will warmly recommend you to watch.
However, I will say that the ending of the movie certainly left much to be desired. The ending of the movie was like a slap to the face with a cold, dead fish, especially after having sat through 97 minutes of nearly non-stop entertaining action and violence. Now, the ending of the movie didn't ruin the viewing experience for me, not at all, but it just was a way too abrupt and out-of-nowhere type of ending.
My rating of "Fight or Flight" lands on a most well-deserved seven out of ten stars.

The plane scenes are great. There's a bit of humour, really good fight scenes and Josh Hartnett is really good as the lead. He's a good actor. Based on that 8.5 stars. But the American side of it was not good. I'm not sure why. The main lady boss is good and the sets are good but something on that side of the story didn't feel right. And that's weird for me. I don't see things as this part of the story and that part. It's just the story. Something was wrong with the American part that made it seem like a different story. It just didn't quite fit. Having said that the American side is relatively small. It's mainly Josh kicking butt on the plane. And I love it.
I was really impressed with Josh's Peter Lorresque turn in last year's underrated Trap. However after a long lay-off to raise a family his choices have been kind of sketchy, and something about his essential midwestern idealism doesn't read as a jaded former operative called out of his drunken stupor in Thailand to find a spy on a transcontinental flight back to the states. There's kind of an interesting Agatha Christie quality to his queries of whom on the flight it could be between the usual "when are they adding stunt work as an Oscars category?" over-choreographed fight scenes, but the film of course feels cobbled together from familiar sources (the expletive-filled lazy dialogue in the agency with a strangely Jessica Chastainesque Katee Sackoff made one miss the subtleties of Black Book). The film offered intriguing questions ("Is there really a full shower offered in Malaysian Business Class?"), but it'd be neat if say the BBC did a series about the flight crew of one of these snazzy flights alone rather than having Liam, Brad or Josh beating up people around them; they seem like an interesting, fun bunch. Oh well, caught my favorite two minutes of Pugh and Harbour in Thunderbolts again and Gene Hackman marathon on TCM tonight. Good enough for me. Cheers!
Josh Hartnett! It's so great to see him in such a cool movie. He's one of the best actors and really deserves more roles like this! Fight or Flight delivers on every level. It shares a lot with the fantastic Bullet Train, but this one feels like a grittier, edgier version.
The martial arts scenes are solid and believable, the dark humor lands well, and the main character is all about doing things in the most perfect way possible. It's definitely over-the-top, but in the best possible way.
What I really love is the independent look of the film. It's not polished and shiny like a typical big Hollywood production - it feels much more real.
To keep it short: Fight or Flight has that great late '90s/early 2000s movie vibe, with Josh Hartnett delivering a full-on, in-your-face performance. This guy needs more roles like this! Just watch it and you'll see what I mean.
I really believe this movie proves that you don't need a multimillion-dollar budget every time. Keep the story grounded, pick the right actor, and you can make something amazing like this!
Cheers!

Listen you know that feeling when you watch something on TV or in front of you like a play and you are completely aware that people are acting in front of you and that feeling takes you out of the experience, knowing that this all is make believe but still takes you out. That's what I felt about Fight or Flight. The opening, the excessive bad assery, the lady boss over the top scenes with her drinking from the serum bottle. Josh Harnett trying his best to be a badass. I do not like the movie at all and I think people don't like it either. The script is terrible and does not hold and sheer overacting of it is just terrible. I didn't even know Sky had a streaming service. Avoid!!!!

...but I'll restrain myself (something this film never does for a moment) and offer a conservative nine stars.
Fight or Flight makes no pretense of being anything other than a low-budget action film, cranked way, WAY up over the top. But it's executed with such impeccable wit and panache that it borders on (lunatic) genius.
The dialog is razor sharp. The acting, especially by the three leads - Hartnett, Chandran and Sackhof - is suitably exaggerated yet tightly focused, never spoiling the delicious balance between credibility and caricature. Hartnett is particularly endearing, as he traverses an extravagant range of mental states.
Direction is brilliant, from the slam-bang opening through to the forward-looking denouement. Fight scenes are expertly choreographed using every cinematic trick in the book, while running the gamut of just about every type of mayhem that could possibly occur on an airliner (and just a few that probably couldn't).
The story, such as it is, hangs together well, and manages to include a few legitimate jabs at unrestrained corporatism and the excessive power of tech companies.
Fight or Flight reminded me, in the best way possible, of such 'B' classics as Snakes on a Plane, Big Trouble in Little China and Deep Rising - movies that keep you in the precarious position of laughing hysterically while sitting on the edge of your seat.
Believe it: this is non-stop cinematic pandemonium at its finest - an absolute must-see for fans of slightly demented action films.

Fight or Flight is basically Bullet Train but on a plane. More specifically the plot is about Josh Hartnett playing an exiled spec ops who is called for one last mission to retrieve a wanted criminal from an airplane full of assassins. If you like Bullet Train then you will like this movie. I really enjoy Josh Hartnett in general and he does a great job as the leading man. Charithra Chandran is also great as a reluctant flight attendant who helps Josh's character. Overall the cast is good and the story is fun but wacky. There is a subplot revolving around the company who hired Josh that honestly the reveal is super head scratching. I kinda get with what they are going for but it feels totally unnecessary. The movie does gives you the gruesome fights and deaths it advertises. My biggest complaint though is I wish it went further with its baddies like Bullet Train did. You remembered all of the weird gimmicky assassins and added to the charm of the movie. For Fight or Flight, other than 1 or 2 gimmicky assassins, the rest are just some nameless boring stand ins. The movie also ends in a cliffhanger, hinting at a sequel which is really head scratching. But I still enjoyed it for the wacky story and kills.
'Fight Or Flight (2025)' is an action-comedy about an on-the-run ex-secret service agent who is offered a chance at freedom if he can locate, secure and deliver a high-value target who is somewhere aboard a busy flight from Bangkok to San Francisco. The only trouble is that he isn't the only one looking for them, but he is the only one that wants to take them alive. Set mostly within the confines of an admittedly spacious but still claustrophobic luxury airliner, the film is quite a bit of fun for its brisk duration. Its story is simple but effective, even if some of its attempts at subversion (particularly when it comes to the reasons behind its protagonist's task and the true nature of his employers) are somewhat trite, and it provides as good an excuse as any for the near-relentless carnage that serves as the bulk of the experience. Carried by an effortlessly charismatic and physically convincing Josh Hartnett, the affair is basically an exercise in controlled chaos. Its action is frequently exciting, remaining tightly choreographed and efficiently shot for its duration, and there are a handful of gore gags that act as apt punctuation to the fast-paced ferocity on display. While some of the comedy is a bit too laboured for my liking (an extended drug trip doesn't quite hit the spot), a lot of the affair is fairly funny and it manages to keep things relatively light no matter how much blood its set-pieces splatter across the screen. It isn't amazing, but it's enjoyable pretty much for its entire duration. It's exactly what it needs to be, surprisingly confident cliffhanger ending and all.
