The final trailer for Tommi Lepola and Tero Molin's upcoming snuff film based slasher Skeleton Crew went live today for your black-hearted enjoyment!

"In the early 1970's, a remote mental institution next to the Russian border was shut down by the police. Before it was closed, Dr. Andersson made a series of snuff films using his patients. The doctor filmed all the murders in 8mm, and started to call himself 'The Auteur.' Thirty years later, an American film crew arrives in Finland to shoot a horror movie about the massacre, and are unaware that they are about to become the stars of their director’s real life snuff film. Instead of making a horror film, they are in one.

Lightning Media Entertainment unveiled the final trailer for Skeleton Crew which is coming to DVD July 21st. Synopsis: In the early 1970's, a remote mental institution next to the Russian border was shut down by the police. Before it was closed, Dr. Andersson made a series of snuff films using his patients. The doctor filmed all the murders in 8mm, and started to call himself 'The Auteur.' Thirty years later, an American film crew arrives in Finland to shoot a horror movie about the massacre, and are unaware that they are about to become the stars of their director.s real life snuff film. Instead of making a horror film, they are in one. The Auteur is slaying the Skeleton Crew one by one... Crew is directed by Tommi Lepola and Tero Molin.

Lightning Media has announced that it will release the Finnish gorefest Skeleton Crew on U.S. DVD, and gave Fango the first look at some grisly pics and the cover art; check ’em out below. The disc hits on July 21.

Directed by Tommi Lepola and Tero Molin (who previously helmed the fantasy/actioner The Book Of Fate and were attached to a Brian Yuzna production called Everdark) from a script by Tero and Teemu Molin, Skeleton Crew was shot in an actual operational mental institution. The story takes place in an asylum near the Finland/Russia border, where an evil doctor used the patients as victims in snuff movies three decades ago. In the present day, an American film crew decides to shoot a movie about the doctor’s nefarious deeds in the facility, and fall victim to a new slaughter scenario.

Director Tommi Lepola has given the first trailer and movie poster a green light for "Skeleton Crew." A snuff film plot device is sure to generate some excitement as this low budget film moves towards a release date. Starring several first time actors and actresses "Skeleton Crew," is announcing a mid 2009, straight-to-dvd release as shooting just began late in 2008.
