As a Miami native, I thoroughly enjoyed "Meeting Juan Jones," which beautifully captures the city's essence with its vibrant cinematography and familiar locations. The film's depiction of Miami adds an extra layer of enjoyment, making it feel like a genuine reflection of the city's character.

Despite being a lower-budget film, "Meeting Juan Jones" is a commendable achievement with its engaging storyline and unexpected plot twist. While the protagonist's character can be a bit of a debbie downer and the gunshot sound effects are a bit cheesy, the film's strong character development and intriguing narrative make it worth the watch. It stands out as a refreshing change from the usual recycled plots found in many new releases, offering a unique and satisfying viewing experience.

So there is potential with this film. For an independent production on a presumably shoestring budget, the talent does what they can. It's basiaclly a TV movie on any of those Soap Opera channels. The main issue I have here is honestly the lead performances. The actor playing Juan Jones is putting on this god awful accent. And I assume he's Cuban, so I don't see why he put on this enhanced bad accent. It completely takes me out of the movie. I also feel he plays the character very one note. I don't see why people would want to be him or with him as is stated when he is introduced. And as for the actor playing Tim, I mean just find some kind of back bone to the character. I understand he's depressed at life, but there's no will to live there. He also plays it very one note and thus I don't have a reason to root for him at all. Honestly, a lot of the side characters were a lot more charismatic than the two leads, which is honestly sad. That's it, bye.
