Just watched this movie today (25th Nov,2022) on hotstar. Mind blowing acting by prakash raj and every characters in the movie almost lived in the role.
Everyone will fully connected with the movie right from beginning. Too emotional scenes that tells the success of this movie. Big salute to the director.
Nowadays it is very hard to get these type of movies.
This movie explains the struggle faced by the weavers, and the love of a humble father to his daughter.
No one will able to control the tears during the final 20 mins of the movie.
Without doubt everyone can watch this movie and I guantee you will be engaged till the end.

Prakash Raj's performance is mind blowing in this movie, especially that helpless laugh at the end of the movie. I remember watching it for the first time and crying my eyes out. To this day, thinking of that scene gives me goosebumps. The movie is made brilliantly and the screenplay explores such a sensitive topic of oppression in a beautiful manner.
Its a classic film by priyadarshan showing the life of a father and his love towards his daughter. The story is happening in kanchivaram which is famous for there silk sarees. When it comes to the movie this will hit your emotions. Prakash raj was not acting he was just living this character. Other actor's also had done a fabulous work. Story, direction, cinematography, art, music comes to the top notch level. Music done by mg sreekumar uplifts the bond between the father and the daughter. And the final conclusion of this review is the movie Kanchivaram is should watch classy film if you like the journal. 🌟
I would like to warn you that this was the first Tamil movie I have ever watched, but it was indeed a real treat. The movie is presented mostly in terms of flashbacks, which have been artistically done. The story revolves over a silk weaver in Kanchivaram and his family, during the advent of communism in South India.
Prakash Raj (the protagonist) has played his role fantastically and the viewer is bound to condone his faults and his crimes, as the director weaves a strong emotional bond with the protagonist. Shriya Reddy plays the role of a house-wife to the best. All other performances (save a few) were top notch, especially the daughter.
The movie is extremely emotional and one would get deeply saddened at the end. But, Priyadarshan has brought out a few morals very well in this movie and has depicted brilliantly how communism infused vigor & courage in the minds of the weavers of Kanchivaram. Although Communism has been shown in a positive light, the essence of the movie doesn't revolve over the Red Brigade and is much more universal.
All in all it is one of the best pieces of cinema from India and definitely one of the best I have seen coming from the South. So do watch it if you can!!!
