Ray and Angela have just broken up. They've just got one last thing to do: divvy up their prized record collection. One album, The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, proves to be non-negotiable, leading the couple to unearth the pain and bitterness that drove them apart.

Angela spends Christmas with her niece Madison, who is desperate to meet her forever crush, pop star Johnny Orlando. But cynical Angela is hellbent on teaching this tween that love is a lie. By taking her niece on a city-wide tour of where Angela got her heart broken, she makes an effective case, until Johnny Orlando shows up to prove her wrong.

Over a dinner of traditional oxtail stew cooked by the "woke" Ray, he tries to impress her father, a professor of African American literature. A battle royal develops between them over cultural and musical appropriation when Ray's progressive tastes get the best of him.

Stefan is a charismatic pastor and marriage counselor. He's also a handsome, eligible bachelor. He meets a new parishioner - the alluring, but married Lily - and goes through a crisis of conscience when they engage in a passionate affair. As he wrestles with his immoral actions, his problems reach a fever pitch as Lily discovers Stefan can only achieve climax with the help of a particular song.

Recent widow Joy meets Fiona and they strike up an unlikely friendship. Joy is gripped by her first queer relationship, but her concerned daughter is determined to stop the eccentric techie from corrupting her delicate mother.

Rain is attending her annual EDM Festival pilgrimage. She's also 8 months pregnant. Don't judge. An ugly spat drives her off the concert grounds and into the Florida Everglades - when her water breaks. As she goes into labour, there's only one person there to assist: Ray, who having escaped from a recent breakup of his own is itching to get back together with his first love, Angela.
