As much as I love what he's doing, trying to showcase his culture and all, the show, although there were a few laughs here and there, overall was pretty dull. Could have been much much better.

Disappointing and average . Get rid of the guest comedians who were not very funny . All of the guest artists were average. The singer at the end , what a waste of time . The whole thing could have been better and longer if Jo koy had a lot more stage time and If bringing or showing artists then have only local talent not people flown in from USA . More visuals with out and about in the Philippines with his family or on his own . The USA guests and boy band singer at the end made most of it a waste of time . I was looking forward to seeing more of the Philippines and more of his comedy both of which would have made a better show .

Jo joy is one of the funniest stand ups in the world right now, I can see what he was trying to do by introducing philipino comics and dancers to try and give them publicity, however it didn't really work. They weren't that good.

Jokoy is in the special, but he's mostly emceeing. He told jokes that I've heard from him before, but they're still funny. For me, it was too short and I felt like they could have shown other aspects of Filipino culture-maybe showcase top Filipino chefs in North America, fashion designers, singers, etc, but they only had 55 mins, so they did what they could. I think he also tried to be as current as possible with the people he featured, but some of the jokes went over the audience's heads, I felt, and the green jokes didn't get the reactions that they probably would have with a more westernized audience. The second comedian was very funny, though. I'm giving this special a 7 for the milestone it achieved and for pushing the diversity and cultural envelope and still being a fun watch.

Twas like a variety show. I think they overcharged filipinos expecting a show from jokoy only to get disappointed.

The first thing that you've got to realize about this special is that it isn't really a stand-up. Its Jo trying to showcase his culture. It was entertaining enough. Though I would have definitely rated it higher if he had done more stand-up than the few bits he did.

I have thoroughly been enjoying the previous stand-up comedy specials from Pinoy comedian Jo Koy, so when I happened to stumble upon this 2020 special on Netflix, of course I immediately sat down to watch it.

Well, first of all, this was something of a disappointment. Why? Well, because most of the show was by showcasing dancers, a DJ, other comedies and showing off Philipine culture and cuisine. I didn't sit down to watch that, so it was somewhat of a swing and a miss for me.

Sure, Jo Koy was on the stage, but not for a very long time, which was disappointment, to say the least. And sure, it was nice to hear about Philippine culture, but then at least it should be done in a documentary, and not in something wrapped up as a comedy special.

"Jo Koy: In His Elements" scores a mere three out of ten stars from me. It wasn't an impressive special, not even by a longshot. And I doubt that I will be returning to watch it ever again, simply because it failed as a comedy special.

But thumbs up to Joseph for managing to being Netflix to make this special in Manila. I am sure that is some accomplishment in itself.

It's not your typical comedy special. It's more than that. I appreciate the objective and the heart Jo Koy put in this project and enjoyed it at the same time. Certainly not his best special, but he was able to showcase great talents. It's not for all -- it's for Filipinos and for those who are interested in learning the culture. So, with that, I think it did its job.

He may have had too many guests, though. Either he could have had lesser guests or talents in the show or could have had a longer set. Though he had a purpose on this show, I hope he had more exposure as his fans were expecting more from him.

I am looking forward to seeing more specials from Jo Koy. He is very talented.

Terrible to be honest. Should of just done a documentary. Maybe next time he will showcase the Philippines abit better. Only funny part was when the comedian asked if there was any nurses in the audience (tumbleweed moment) the audience members were all part of the elite. Jo Koy had the right idea but the execution was poor. He seemed uncomfortable when the B boy told him he sleeps in a Jeepney. Still love you Jo Koy maybe next time bro!!

All these people saying it was a swing and a miss didn't get what the show was about. It's about giving others an opportunity a chance at their dreams and I loved watching it. Jo Koy never gave up on his dreams and he went to where he was born and let others showcase theirs.

I was expecting a stand up comedy with just him, that's why it's called "jo koy" but he was mostly promoting these other guests the entire 55 minutes. In my opinion, I understand that he was trying to teach us their culture, however, these people already know their own culture because that is where they're from! I did have a few laughs here and there, however I've heard some of these jokes already, I love jo koy, but this was very disappointing.

I was looking forward to watch this one since his first 2 stand ups were really good. Got disappointed when his guests got more airtime than him doing the actual show. If you are hoping for a stand up show like the first 2, then skip this one.

And a dull Justin Bieber wannabe at the end of the show.

Not the Jo Koy Special we've loved and expect. Sadly disappointing since he mostly emcee'd instead of doing his usual comedy show where it's just Jo Koy. Hopefully, next time he'll go back to the way it was with just him in his raw form.

I wanted to see a stand up comedy from Jokoy because there's so many clips about his past shows... but end up watching Lonely Planet... Never seen a stand up comedy where there's dancing and intermission... good thing it's only on Netflix. If this is the same as what they saw on the live show then I feel sorry for those who wasted their money. He must have mistaken that Filipinos doesnt like Variety shows anymore. It should've been titled variety show hosted by Jokoy...

While Jokoy himself is an awesome comedian, this latest special was a big disappointment. Whoever put this together did so half-assed. There were wasted opportunities to showcase the country and culture - more creatively, but no idea why he didn't use the local comedians and brought lackluster guests - from America instead. The comedy style is way different and you could tell the audience was looking bored as hell. It felt rushed and the DJ acts, breakdancing, and the singer were definitely fillers. Jokoy should have run the show by himself and could have added more quality work into it. It was such a let down at the end and I hope he rebounds in a big way soon.

You'd probably enjoy this show more if you were Filipino.

His intention was good but the show turns out average; when I open a comedy standup title featuring a standup comedian on the cover, I expect a standup comedy, instead, I get a Philippine's Got Talent. The performers are not that exceptional, just regular guys from the street. I respect their talent, but really didn't make any sparkle for this show.

The message itself was awesome. It's good to see people being proud of their heritage and promoting it to the world. HOWEVER.... The tear-jerky "I wish the world loved the Phillipines as much as I do" layout of the special was understandable but extremely boring. The 5-10min clips of recycled Nurse/Accent jokes mixed with the 30mins of Lonely Planet Phillipines/Behind the Music, I could have just watched as sporatic YouTube videos and been just as entertained or not entertained as the case may be. Unfortunately the calibre of comedy from the in-between acts wasn't great either, very much the same self depricating Filipino humour that really didn't really land.

Disclaimer: I saw Jo Koy and Andrew Lopez in Wellington last year and Jo came up with some seriously funny stuff. Andrew Lopez obviously wrote one tight 5 and committed it to memory. It wasn't funny the first time let alone the second. Word for damn word.

Was expecting to watch a good stand-up comedy show not a variety show. It was a huge letdown for me and my family who sat down and watch. Stick to making great stand up shows with maybe 1 or 2 guests at most but not with 6 who will eat up most of the time.

I'm not a Phillipino, and I loved this program. I expected a stand-up comedy show and it turned out to be so much more. I loved every minute of it, so much interesting!!!

I shouldn't review this since I couldn't get through it all however what I did see was an insult to everything Filipino. Jo Koy said the F word and the MF word several times in the first half of the show. The first ten minutes were about Filipino hip hop dancers?! Is that even still a thing? The first comedian was an American of Filipino descent, I guess they didn't know any Filipino comedians. When this comedian started talking about black dick size I gave up. It was like American born Filipinos going back to the islands and spreading American filth. Very disappointing.

So disappointed. Same recycled Nurse/Accent Jokes when there was comedy. This Lonely Planet Phillipines/Budget Live at the Apollo/Behind the Music as hosted by Jo Koy is easily the worst Netflix special I have ever seen. I appreciate this as a passion project for Jo and I'm sure it means a lot him but he shouldn't have advertised it as a brand new stand up special because it wasn't. It was a pretentious plug for Filipino artists and tourism. I want that hour back Jo.

I have seen Jo Koy before.. But never this boring. He only rant about Philippines whole show. Boring for non-philippines.. But also for filipinos I think, the audience didnt laugh much. And understandably
