- William Harper: This is geopolitics. It's not couples therapy.
- Viktor Cherevin: You Americans like to think of yourselves as direct, but I wonder if perhaps you are just rude.
- Jack Ryan: You Russians think of yourselves as poets but perhaps you're just touchy.
- Jack Ryan: [collapsing on his crutches] I don't like you very much, doctor.
- Cathy Muller: I'm not a doctor. I'm a 3rd-year med student who is four credits short in P.T. until you decide to walk.
- Viktor Cherevin: [In Russian] It was always for Russia.
- The Minister Sorokin: So is this.

- William Harper: [waiting to see the president] Any way you can get that boy-scout-on-a-field-trip look off your face?
- Jack Ryan: [big smile] Not a chance.

- Viktor Cherevin: No. But I'll take you. And I insist my driver pick you up from your hotel. Moscow can be very dangerous.

- Jack Ryan: Jesus. How do you get over something like that?

- Jack Ryan: That's not the same thing.

- Cathy Muller: I love Lermontov. That Russian romanticism is so achingly desperate.

- Jack Ryan: Oh, no.
- CIA Operator: 15 to minutes. Maintain the room. Wait for two rings, then exit. Go quiet until 21:30 local and surface at location Gamma.
- Jack Ryan: I, uh...
- CIA Operator: Contact bench at the base of the stairs.
- Jack Ryan: I don't remember where that is.
- CIA Operator: Confirm.
- Jack Ryan: I heard you, I just don't remember the address, okay? I'm just analyst. I only did three weeks at the farm.
- CIA Operator: You're breaking protocol, Cornerback.
- Jack Ryan: I'm out of my goddamn element, is what I am. I just need the address.
- CIA Operator: Go back to your room and stay there until the phone rings twice. Then leave quickly and quietly. Keep out of sight until 9:30 local time. Then go Staraya Square, the steps.
- Jack Ryan: Okay.
- CIA Operator: Your contact will be on the bench. Cornerback?
- Jack Ryan: Yeah.
